Last week, the Nintendo Switch Online app got a little bit more attention than usual when the latest update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released on the Nintendo Switch.
The mobile application also received an update, allowing users to view shared custom-made stages and then download them directly to their game. While it's not much, the iOS version of this Nintendo app has now apparently received an update. As with a lot of Nintendo software updates, the details are incredibly vague. Version 1.5.1 makes a number of bug fixes, but nothing else is mentioned beyond this. The Android version of this update is expected to roll out soon.
Have you been using this smartphone application since the Stage Builder mode arrived in Ultimate? Were you using it prior to this for voice chat and to access extra data and content in games like Splatoon 2? What else would you like to see added to it?
Leave your thoughts below.

And there was much rejoicing.
Oh yeah this still exists..
This was the update this app was needing!
I’m starting to suspect Nintendolife expects every update to anything to be something major instead of bug fixes.
Incredible Minor, LOL 😆
I thought it will be Incredible Major updates.
Absolutely nothing wrong with bug fix updates. While I think we all would like to see actual improvements toward this largely useless app, I have no issue with, and no reason to complain about bug fixes.
Yay..... Just kidding I don't care.
@ReaderRagfish This iPhone app update added so much stability I can use my phone outside of town!
@Heavyarms55 I think the Smash World is a great function for it. Would love to see more of that.
Stability: The Musical
I can't even use the Nintendo app on my phone right now since I updated to Android Q (Pixel 2 XL). Initial loading screen comes up, then it immediately crashes every time.
Guess I have to settle for browsing custom stages and stuff in the actual game. :/
@Indielink The Splatoon 2 features are decent too. But overall the app has very little functionality.
If it were my design, it would show your friend list, who is online and what they are playing. It would allow direct messaging to people on your friend list via text as well. You would be able to send game invites to people not actively playing said game and be able to host a lobby for friends to join or be able to join other friend's lobbies. And you would be able to browse the eshop and order games to be downloaded to your Switch remotely - like you can with the PC website. And all of these features would be limitable or blockable by the parental control app.
@Anri02 I suspect they just want to make clicks based on the negativity surrounding this app, so they take every chance making an article about it.
@Heavyarms55 We basically have the same vision for what it could be. Maybe some day.
An update to remove it from being a thing?
I hope the bug fix in the iOS version is the ability to keep my AirPods connected to voice chat even if I get a text message on my phone. It seems now when I get a text message and I respond to it directly from the push notification while still inside the Nintendo Switch app, my voice chat through my AirPods gets disconnected and re-routed to my phone's speakerphone. It's so annoying. The only way currently to get the voice chat back on to my AirPods is to shut down the NSO app and restart it and then reconnect to the voice chat (such an annoyance especially during intense pro-level Salmon Runs on Splatoon 2). This wasn't an issue before Nintendo pushed an update to the app a few week ago so it's definitely a Nintendo problem, not an Apple one.
