I would get this physically because that’s how I prefer to buy my games but I haven’t found anywhere that’s taking preorders other than the official Bandai store which always costs more. I love Digimon so I guess I’ll just get digitally.
Definitely buying this game. I can set the works and lore aside from the real world issues. But I’ll be waiting for this game to go on sale and definitely waiting for Switch gameplay footage to be shown before I make my purchasing decision. Otherwise if the Switch version is unplayable then I’ll get it on PS4 because it’s still impossible to get a PS5. Really hoping the extra time for a switch means that game is LA Noire/Witcher 3 level of playable at least.
@Sinton I “get this idea” by living in Canada and seeing article after article after article on sites like Nintendo Life and Twitter about special editions coming to Switch that are Japanese and Europe exclusive. We may have gotten a great BOTW Special Edition in North America back in 2017 (which 6 people on the entire continent were able to preorder…that’s another matter) but games like Triangle Strategy and other third party games got special editions in Europe only. We are constantly overlooked in North America. Nintendo of America (which is responsible for all 3 countries…..I don’t care what people say, Nintendo of Canada is literally a closet for tax purposes that do nothing) repeatedly refuse to issue any special editions in this region.
@Friendly Europe already gets all of the special physical editions. It's North America that needs to play catch-up at this point. We get no steelbooks for series like Pokemon and our My Nintendo Store here is an absolute joke (unless you happen to live in New York City and have access to Nintendo NY). Nintendo treats Europe far better than North America at this point, or maybe they just throw all their love at the U.K. and from an outsider's perspective it seems Europe gets everything. But I can't begin to tell you how many times I've had to import from various European Amazon sites because a special edition was never released in North America (Canada specifically but even the U.S. doesn't get them).
@Jhena I just found it to be very boring and didn't run well on Switch, despite it being developed for the system. I'm sure it has its fans and that's great but for me, I found myself going back to Stardew Valley (a game I'd completed a year prior) because I found it more engaging and didn't stutter on Switch. I am enjoying Rune Factory 5 on Switch but it too suffers a lot of performance issues on the system, but I do find it more engaging.
Starfox Adventures is one of my favourite GameCube games ever, and I really hope it gets a remaster or a remake for Switch. I remember absolutely LOVING it back in the day and I didn't care that it strayed so far away from the Starfox gameplay we all knew and loved. It was a great game in its own right and I love seeing it finally getting the recognition it deserved!
I was interested in this game but I have so many farming sims on my Switch already and frankly Dreamlight Valley is occupying most of my time along with Splatoon 3 that I likely won't get Harvestella. I also don't really care for the main hero character design. I'm male and I like to play games like these using characters I can customize to look as close to me as possible. I'm also gay and I like to marry same-sex partners in games like these. So far I don't see a difference between the female presenting and male presenting character models and while I am sure some appreciate that, not everyone does so it would have been nice for a very personal game like farming SIMs are to have had greater diversity in the character model fully controllable for the player. Even with skin tones and hairstyles, more diversity is never a bad thing. Hopefully the developers add greater character customization in the future and then maybe I'll consider it. For nw, I'll stick with Stardew, Rune Factory, the aforementioned Dreamlight Valley and maybe the new SoS game (although Pioneers of Olive Town was not enjoyable at all).
Luckily I was able to preorder the Divine Edition pet easily through GameStop Canada yesterday morning. However I just checked and it’s sold out today. Glad I got the preorder when I did. Can never rely on NintendoLife to post any Canadian links.
If Nintendo couldn't get this done right on DAY 1 after all of the connection problems we had with Splatoon 2, then why bother make a new game? I feel like we're back at the early days of Splatoon 2 all over again. I've been booted out of so many Salmon Runs and lost so much rank that it's not even worth it to play anymore simply because Nintendo can't do a basic 21st Century gaming practice. It's incredibly frustrating and I don't hold any hope this will be fixed for the upcoming Sept Splatfest. Disney Dreamlight Valley is also a comm error mess on Switch but at least that developer can use the excuse it's a Early Access game. Nintendo with Splatoon has absolutely NO excuses for the online to be this abysmal.
There were absolutely no decent preorder bonuses for the game in Canada so I just downloaded off the eShop to use up Gold Coins to make it cheaper (and get the bonus Gold Coins for ordering early). I'm kind of glad I'm going digital because I did buy the Splatoon 3 OLED (my first OLED model) and I have to say, Nintendo made the game card flap on these models way more difficult to open than the standard Switch to the point where swapping game cards is becoming quite the pain. I'm a typical guy with no nails and there's no groove so I have to grab a paperclip every time or just kind of leave the flap off (which defeats the purpose because I'm sure it's meant to prevent dust). I miss the good ol' days of N64/SNES/NES cartridge slots. Or the PSP disc system.
Saw Nintendo has uploaded a new commercial for the game on their YouTube channel. Rather curious how they use the standard OLED model in the ad and not the Splatoon 3 OLED variant. This makes me think that given we only have 1 week until the system's launch, Nintendo has decided to give a big ol' middle finger to North America by blocking the ability to pre-order. Instead it'll be a Black Friday free-for-all battle Royale bloodbath trying to get our hands on the 5 systems that will be made available for the entire continent because Europe/UK/Japan got all of the pre-order units produced. Really disappointed with how Nintendo no longer cares about its biggest market outside Japan nowadays in the post-Iwata/Reggie years.
Meanwhile I AM looking for that Splatoon Switch OLED model but nowhere in North America (Canada or the US) has it gone up for preorder. And we're just a few short weeks away from its release. I really can't understand why Nintendo prioritizes Europe for everything nowadays. I get that they're a large market but by a numbers game, North America IS the largest market for them outside Japan and yet we are constantly shafted. I don't think any one region should be prioritized over the other. North America should get the steelbook love & the pre-order love that Europe is showered with.
Hope this deal falls through. Last thing we want is the Chinese Communist Party spying on us through Mario & Rabbids. The less China involvement in western companies and life, the better off we all will be.
I think it's incredible that a game that's visually way more advanced like this is getting early access on Nintendo Switch (where it'll likely "sell" more copies than anywhere else) and a pixel art style farm simulator like Sun Haven can't even bother. Definitely looking forward to Dreamlight Valley and I think I'm just going to write-off Sun Haven as "never gonna happen" or "too late" if its developer ever decides to finally make good on their constant use of the hashtag and actually bring the game over to Switch.
Nintendo should take this opportunity to actually make a difference for those suffering in Ukraine by releasing the game and giving ALL proceeds to Ukrainian humanitarian aid organizations. Nintendo earns positive PR while doing something that ACTUALLY helps people. It reframes the game completely in the public’s view.
I guess this is why Nintendo couldn't be bothered to film a 1st party Direct or Treehouse. Their global video production capability was re-directed for a commercial.
Glad I’m getting this game physically on cartridge. From everything I’ve seen, this is going to be one large game and I don’t think my microSD would be able to handle it and all the screenshots I’m gonna want to take! This game looks like it’s gonna be amazing!
Well 3hrs later and multiple site crashes and ill-fated attempts to add the Special Edition to my cart, I was FINALLY able to confirm checkout. I really really REALLY hope Nintendo NEVER forces us to use their site ever again unless some serious investments are made in their online infrastructure (couldn't even get through typing that with a straight face). Good luck to everyone else still trying.
This won't go well. If there's one thing Nintendo has never done is how to learn their lesson on how to effectively manage an online store. Really not enjoying spending an entire day in front of my computer clicking refresh & I'm sure by the time it does go live, the site will crash again.
I keep thinking I want to buy an OLED Switch (I have the ACNH Switch) but I don't know if I should given that we're closer to a next-gen system from Nintendo now than not.
Nintendo never ceases to disappoint on disappointing their fans. Nobody wanted a 3rd Party Partner Showcase in lieu of a big “E3” Direct. With the state of the world as it is right now, Nintendo could have just given the fans what they wanted for once & just done a big ol’ traditional Direct complete with soon to be released & far-off titles just to give people something to look forward to. These 3rd party games are mostly gonna be old games we’ve played years ago ported over. While those have a place & YAY for them coming to Switch….it’s the Nintendo 1st Party titles we’ve all come here for. It’s Game Boy/GBA coming to NSO, it’s the new MK8D courses incoming we want to see….it’s the possible teases of BOTW2. Sometimes it’s a real kick in the arse when Nintendo does it’s own thing….sometimes it would be nice if they just put their fans first and did what was expected and wanted of them.
I'm just glad the controller lag when using a wireless controller while docked seems to have been corrected. I played both Mario Golf and Starfox 64 using the N64 NSO controller while docked and my button presses were exact, no more lag issues.
Nintendo should honour their history while looking to the future for the Switch successor. Call it the Super Nintendo Switch. It's nostalgic & it effectively communicates it's a next-gen Switch.
@jowe_gw Oversaturated in that I have been playing FE games since the GameCube era and in comparison IntelligentSystem's other gem, Advance Wars has gotten remarkably less love. I'm a huge fan of Fire Emblem, I love the games, but ever since Days of Ruin I have been hoping the Advance Wars series would get new games just as frequently. And every time they get close, something happens to derail it. All I'm saying is I would like to see Advance Wars get a little more love before we move on to yet another Fire Emblem game, which I'll still enjoy once that releases too.
While I'm interested in this because I love the FE series, it is way too oversaturated. I want Nintendo to just release the already finished Advance wars remake on Switch BEFORE a new Fire Emblem game. It made sense to delay back in March but I'm sorry, it no longer makes sense at this point. We are past symbolism now and it is more effective to pull all Nintendo's business permanently out of Russia now than it is to delay a finished game's launch in other parts of the world. And we as consumers can do more by donating to aid organizations and lobbying our own politicians to do more to help Ukraine and that would be more effective than delaying Advance Wars any further.
@DrDoctor That's not what I meant. Right now Nintendo has however many they're going to make in the pipeline already. I'm saying don't actually make them until the pre-order period closes and then make based on the number of ordwers received. Still limit people to only ordering 1-2 but run the preorder for days/weeks before closing. Nintendo never does that but it would have been a better experience instead of the nightmare we're currently experiencing. I want someone at Nintendo to get fired for their continued incompetence. It's 2022, there's no more excuses if they want to be the exclusive home of these special editions from now on.
Might want to remove the Canadian and US MY Nintendo store since SURPRISE (said no one ever who can rationally think), the store is down and nobody was able to get a preorder in because Nintendo can't even manage a website let alone a special edition launch catered to die-hard fans.
So I was logged in for an hour beforehand, waited 30min in the online queue, finally was able to add to cart and then I had to login AGAIN and at that point my cart gets deleted, the login fails, the My Nintendo store crashes, all hell breaks loose, and the store goes down for maintenance. On Twitter I see a lot of angry people have the same problem & the whole time I'm thinking anyone with half a brain cvould foresee this would happen. Someone at Nintendo should be fired because this happens every single time. Nintendo should adopt the Limited Run Games approach of limit 1-2 per account and run the preorder for X number of weeks and then after produce the amount needed. Yeah it'll take a while longer but anything is better than the absolute terrible customer experience these Rhode Scholar Treehouse employees seem to push time and time again that keeps failing. If anybody at Nintendo doubted how popular this would be and not recognize their online store couldn't handle the traffic, they should get FIRED.
Ok I was going to get Scarlet for myself & Violet for my husband but I think I need to have Professor DADDY in my game now. WOAH!!! Might have to switch.
I love their design. I want a steelbook for these games but I just know Nintendo will screw over North Americans yet again & only produce them for Europe.
I'll be picking up the dual pack since I'm playing Scarlet & my husband will be playing Violet. I just wish our dual packs in Canada came with your European-only steelbooks, we always get so screwed in Canada on extras. I'm hoping the open world feels more "lived-in" and "alive" because Sword & Shield was a huge letdown in that area (I'm not knocking Arceus on that because it's set in the distant past and there weren't many people there to fit the game's narrative).
I'm worried given preorders are limited the My Nintendo Online Store also in North America that Nintendo has made even less of these special editions then they normally do and the site won't be able to handle the traffic making securing a preorder impossible. Nintendo doesn't have a great track record.
So this is interesting, Fragrant Story isn't available on the 3DS eShop digitally in Canada. I just tried searching for it and it's not appearing in the search. And it's nowhere on the main page either. Very weird as there's usually not a difference (other than currency) that separates the American and Canadian eShops. UGH. I don't want to pay to import, it's way too expensive for what this game is. I would have been fine paying $4-8 digitally for this but it seems they're not giving me the chance to do that.
I own all the games for PS4 on disc. If I can't play on Switch without being forced to be online to play, it defeats the purpose of having these games on a hybrid device like Switch.
@Pillowpants I was just about to ask that? Yoshi absolutely does NOT belong on Team Bowser. Sucks because he's my favourite character to race as...but I hardly play Tour anyway. I'll stick with MK8D.
I like the Expansion Pack because I grew up in the N64 era, it was the first console I bought with my own allowance money, I had inherited my older sister's SNES. That said, the lag on NSO N64 games makes these games unplayable. Especially Mario Golf which is all timing based. I've tried every controller including the wireless N64 one avail. to NSO subscribers and nothing worked. Neither did changing tv settings. The only way I can get N64 games to not have lag is by playing in handheld mode with joy-cons attached. It seems to be (by process of elimination) that the issue stems from the Dock. And this seems to be the same for others on Reddit and other forums I've looked at. I love the service but at these prices I hope Nintendo figures out how to fix this.
I like the genre and thought why not I'll pick up the physical because it's the last cartridge ever. But it doesn't seem to be available on any Canadian retailers' website. Guess I'll just grab the $4 digital then....at least I'll get some more Gold Coins to put towards Splatoon 3 when it launches (totally buying that digitally).
I ended up getting the gold decal one from Rise, but never bought the game. I might get this since my Smash Bros pro controller sticks now have joy con drift (I haven't even used the gold MH Rise controller yet). I enjoyed the MH Rise NSO Game Trial that I ended up pre-ordering the Sunbreak Collector's Edition with the amiibo thinking it came with the base game and a download code for Sunbreak only to find out later it doesn't. Feel like Capcom should have offered a version of the Sunbreak Collector's Edition for those of us like me who are just beginning their MH journey and need the base game but don't have it yet. Guess I'll have to cancel it.
Loving Triangle Strategy!! I really hope Nintendo can work out a deal to get Ogre Battles SNES & Ogre Battles 64 on to Nintendo Switch Online for game preservation purposes, & to introduce them to a whole new generation of players & those looking for nostalgia!
@Erigen I'm so glad I preordered the Fire Emblem Fates special edition back in the day. Its just convenient to have all 3 games on cartridge & sure enough now it's worth a lot! Adding it to my retirement plan, HA!
I was absolutely addicted to Mario Golf on the N64 (the GBC game that also released close to this) back in the day. Can't wait to play this again with the n64 nso controller. I also played it on the Wii Virtual Console but I think playing it once again with the N64 controller (minus the weight of the Expansion Pak) will be 1000x better!
So does this actually contain the baseline MH:R game on cartridge and then a download voucher for the DLC? It's all a bit confusing. Anyway I do have it preordered as it went live for preorder in Canada today. If it doesn't include the baseline game though I may just cancel the preorder.
I want this game but I have my doubts it'll run properly on a launch PS4 let alone a Nintendo Switch. So I think I'll stick to just getting it on PS4 because even there I think it'll have some quality issues (I don't even have a Pro..it's just a launch console) and I have no faith a PS5 will become available for purchase before Holiday 2030. But maybe if Nintendo surprises us with a Switch Pro or something and it's backward compatible, maybe I'll get this game to play on that. HA.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Xenoblade Chronicles 3 On Switch
Might want to remove the Canadian and US MY Nintendo store since SURPRISE (said no one ever who can rationally think), the store is down and nobody was able to get a preorder in because Nintendo can't even manage a website let alone a special edition launch catered to die-hard fans.
Re: Pre-Orders For Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Open Now (US)
So I was logged in for an hour beforehand, waited 30min in the online queue, finally was able to add to cart and then I had to login AGAIN and at that point my cart gets deleted, the login fails, the My Nintendo store crashes, all hell breaks loose, and the store goes down for maintenance.
Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Trailer Introduces New Professors And Your Rival, Nemona
Ok I was going to get Scarlet for myself & Violet for my husband but I think I need to have Professor DADDY in my game now. WOAH!!! Might have to switch.
Re: Meet Koraidon and Miraidon, Your Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Legendaries
I love their design. I want a steelbook for these games but I just know Nintendo will screw over North Americans yet again & only produce them for Europe.
Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Releases 18th November
I'll be picking up the dual pack since I'm playing Scarlet & my husband will be playing Violet. I just wish our dual packs in Canada came with your European-only steelbooks, we always get so screwed in Canada on extras. I'm hoping the open world feels more "lived-in" and "alive" because Sword & Shield was a huge letdown in that area (I'm not knocking Arceus on that because it's set in the distant past and there weren't many people there to fit the game's narrative).
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Collector's Edition Goodies To Ship At A "Later Date" (Europe)
I'm worried given preorders are limited the My Nintendo Online Store also in North America that Nintendo has made even less of these special editions then they normally do and the site won't be able to handle the traffic making securing a preorder impossible. Nintendo doesn't have a great track record.
Re: Review: Fragrant Story - A Goofy, Final Fantasy Tactics-Style Indie Swansong For 3DS
Re: Kingdom Hearts Cloud Versions Updated, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
I own all the games for PS4 on disc. If I can't play on Switch without being forced to be online to play, it defeats the purpose of having these games on a hybrid device like Switch.
Re: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Still On Track For 2022 Release
I got everything out of the original game, absolutely loved it! Can't wait for the sequel.
Re: Peach And Bowser Settle An Old Score In Mario Kart Tour's Latest Update
@Pillowpants I was just about to ask that? Yoshi absolutely does NOT belong on Team Bowser. Sucks because he's my favourite character to race as...but I hardly play Tour anyway. I'll stick with MK8D.
Re: Nintendo President Says "Most" US Switch Online Users Have Upgraded To The Expansion Pack
@Pillowpants I share with 7 other accounts to lower the price as much as possible too!
Re: Nintendo President Says "Most" US Switch Online Users Have Upgraded To The Expansion Pack
Re: Review: Fragrant Story - A Goofy, Final Fantasy Tactics-Style Indie Swansong For 3DS
Re: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Will Have A Gorgeous Switch Pro Controller
Re: Keep Calm, But Square Enix Has Trademarked 'Tactics Ogre: Reborn' In Japan
Loving Triangle Strategy!! I really hope Nintendo can work out a deal to get Ogre Battles SNES & Ogre Battles 64 on to Nintendo Switch Online for game preservation purposes, & to introduce them to a whole new generation of players & those looking for nostalgia!
Re: Feature: 10 3DS Retail Games That Might Be Cheaper To Buy Digitally While You Can
@Erigen I'm so glad I preordered the Fire Emblem Fates special edition back in the day. Its just convenient to have all 3 games on cartridge & sure enough now it's worth a lot! Adding it to my retirement plan, HA!
Re: Mario Golf Is Being Added To Switch Online's Expansion Pack Next Week
I was absolutely addicted to Mario Golf on the N64 (the GBC game that also released close to this) back in the day. Can't wait to play this again with the n64 nso controller. I also played it on the Wii Virtual Console but I think playing it once again with the N64 controller (minus the weight of the Expansion Pak) will be 1000x better!
Re: Capcom Unveils Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Collector's Edition, Pre-Orders Now Live (North America)
So does this actually contain the baseline MH:R game on cartridge and then a download voucher for the DLC? It's all a bit confusing. Anyway I do have it preordered as it went live for preorder in Canada today. If it doesn't include the baseline game though I may just cancel the preorder.
Re: Yes, Hogwarts Legacy Really Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch
I want this game but I have my doubts it'll run properly on a launch PS4 let alone a Nintendo Switch. So I think I'll stick to just getting it on PS4 because even there I think it'll have some quality issues (I don't even have a Pro..it's just a launch console) and I have no faith a PS5 will become available for purchase before Holiday 2030. But maybe if Nintendo surprises us with a Switch Pro or something and it's backward compatible, maybe I'll get this game to play on that. HA.
