It really is a lovely game.
Oh wow, actually quite surprised by this, I didn’t think Yoshi games had that much sway?
I picked it up on launch and I’m really enjoying it, but I’m also a big Nintendo fan commenting on a Nintendo website so didn’t expect this to do as well with the general public!
Think I need to get my head out of the WiiU days - it’s so nice to see Nintendo games and consoles doing so well!
Honestly didn't expect Yoshi to sell this well, especially not in the UK market.
Times are changing, huh?
Hurray! I am really liking this game, savoring every level.
Why does that Poochy keep losing his pups? Seriously, the backwards levels are amazing.
That's really great to see and quite surprising. I reckon this has to be Yoshi's first ever UK number 1?
9 of the top 20 games are on Switch and Assasins Creed III Remastered is on the way.
Yoshi Number 1, great to see this here in the UK. I have my copy but just need to put some time aside to play it
@dugan 'paw' parenting skills
Really thought this would’ve been hard to topple Sekiro. Delightful performance for a delightful game!
@MJL I'm with you on this one. Need to learn not to be surprised every time Nintendo does well in the UK.... But old habits sure die hard!
Nice!! I would have thought top 5 at best. So there are some decent parents out there in the UK after all. Who’d’ve thought?!
It’s a lovely, happy game and I’m pleased it’s number 1.
Like most other commenters I’m pleased and a little surprised it has done so well, great news.
I’ll be honest... I only clicked on the article because I assumed that this was NL’s attempt at an April Fool’s.
However, it’s lovely to see a game like Yoshi’s to get to number 1.
Is this an April Fool's joke? I'd never have expected this but colour me pleasantly surprised. Congratulations to our little dino chum!
Wow, unexpected for here in the UK!
Such is the Power of Nintendo!
It's a fab game. Beautiful to look at and explore. Loving it so far!
Great to see it doing well. I honestly cant put it down. Maybe Nintendo could bring Woolly World over to Switch, never got a chance to play it.
I'm planning to get the game tomorrow myself, glad to hear it's doing well. (i'm in the US though)
Perhaps all the Sekiro players needed something a bit more mellow to calm them down. Great to see Yoshi be so successful, it's just the sort of lovely, calm and joyous game that the UK needs right now.
Yeah, I'm surprised this game hit the top spot.
Yum! Wah-hee-ho!
I honestly wasn’t sure if this was an April fools or not, anyway for those who have played, I lost interest in woolly world, could this one still pull me in? I love the look of it and Yoshis island is an all time favorite.
I know that Yoshi is great but I didn't realise the general public shared that opinion
Maybe it's just well timed with the school holidays?
Good for Yoshi.
I wonder how long it will stay near the top though. Unfortunately, Yoshi games don't tend to stay up there for long, regardless of how good they are. Maybe the first Nintendo Switch version will change that.
Great stuff! I adored Woolly World and bought it day one on Wii U, sadly don’t really have the luxury of buying games day one anymore! My birthday in May though so I’ll hopefully get it soon enough...
Maybe people get tired from the same old M-rating content and just want to unwind with something cute and fun? Doesn't hurt it has 2-player co-op either, something perfect for playing with your kids.
Definitely picking this up (here in the USA). I was absolutely enthralled with the demo.
I've been enjoying Yoshi Labo! Especially when I got to control the giant Yoshi Cardboard Mech! HAHA!!! I think this game shows we need actual Super Mario-branded Labo!
I think the physical/digital divide is a potential factor here, technology is such at the moment that you're punished for going digital on Switch (limitations of microSD cards) meanwhile you're punished for going physical on XB1/PS4 (forced to install game to hard drive, massive day 1 updates that render the physical version almost pointless).
Still, it's nice seeing Yoshi in 1st.
MarioYoshi Number One!Yoshi's Crafted World sold ~15,000 retail copies at launch.
It's a strong debut. By comparison to another March title, DMCV opened with ~20,000 retail copies sold at launch, with ~16,000 copies coming from the PS4 version.
Nice to see not everyone wants realistic shooting, driving, Fighting, MOBA and PubG/Fortnite games all the time.
Those have their place of course, but it's reassuring to see Yoshi style experience of a gentler nature are still valued in the world. People still seem to want these good lighthearted fun experiences and I'm happy about that.
Yoshi puts something softer into our hard world.
This game is pure warmth.
For some reason, I didn't like Wooly World all that much, but I really Crafted World!
I have been enjoying it. It's a super chill game. But if you are trying for the collectibles, certainly not as easy as it first appears.
Nintendo can thank Chuggaconroy for my purchase. If his LP of Wooly World hadn't been so good, I'd probably have passed over this one too. But Chugga put me in the mood for some good Yoshi fun.
Wooly World was amazing and I can’t wait to pick this one up...as soon as I have the time!
@westman98 It was less than 70 copies ahead of the #2 title, great for little Yoshi to have his first #1 and on decent sales too!
@Rob3008
I'm pretty sure The Division 2 is ahead of Yoshi if you account for digital sales, but the former is the sequel to Ubisoft's fastest selling game of all time while the latter is a new entry in a B/C-tier Nintendo franchise, so that is to be expected.
