I'm absolutely horrible at Tetris in general, even worse when playing online (although I haven't played online since that 3DS game came out a couple years ago). I guess I'll stick to earning gold coins the old fashioned way, by purchasing other games while the eShop sale is still active. HAHA.
I do think cloud saves should be supported. I'm a little worried. I've had to replace my Switch because the screen broke on my launch unit (the panel died on its own). I had to get a second unit using the extended warranty I got at EB Games Canada, it was luckily still active for one remaining week when my screen broke). I had to transfer everything over and having those cloud saves were extra peace of mind. Luckily the saves on my actual system were obviously still intact so the cloud wasn't needed in this case, but it does make me worry about the fragility of the Switch. Any and all support for cloud based saves is appreciated and it would be a bummer to lose all that Animal Crossing progress should the worst happen.
Alright based off a Google search I found scanned images of the Japanese box art and there's some really nice interior artwork. So I've decided to go physical since the Japanese front cover is the same as the English one. This gives me hope that the interior artwork will be present in the English version as well! Pre-ordered from EB Games Canada!
I'm trying to decide if I want to buy this digitally so I can play it now and not have to swap game cards between this and another game....or wait for the physical release at the end of the summer in August. Usually I prefer physical because of box art but 3rd party games on Switch have really lazy box art. There's usually just a white page on the inside sleeve, no art at all. I mean Square did nothing for Final Fantasy X/X2 or Octopath Traveler on Switch so it's safe to assume they won't with Collection of Mana. I have a 400GB memory card so I'm not lacking memory space. I don't know. Thoughts from the community?
I don't need another Switch although this one looks very nice. But I do wish the Gorgeous Edition of the game would release in North America. But with Nintendo these days, good luck getting a decent Special Edition over here. They save that stuff now solely for Japan and Europe.
@Arnold-Kage All I was meaning was there's a trend of subscription fatigue now. Lots of tech YouTubers have been commenting on this. Companies need to know that not everything needs to be subscription model. Yeah it's attractive for them because on paper, they make more money that way. But consumers are going to reach, if they haven't already, subscription fatigue and they won't sign up or they'll start to cancel. It's the same thing that happened in North America to cable and satellite tv companies. Everyone "cut cable" to go to Netflix and other streaming services. But now there's so many streaming services with their own exclusives that it's actually more expensive than the traditional cable and satellite tv they ditched in the first place. The madness has to stop!
$9.99 for Apple TV+, $9.99 for Disney+, $10+ for Netflix, $24 (CDN) for CraveTV in Canada, $9.99 for Apple Music/Spotify/whatever music you want...and now all these $9.99 or higher gaming streaming services. It's ridiculous. People....it's cheaper to just buy the stuff you want outright. No wonder people are nearing bankruptcy and having to choose between having food or paying rent month to month...all their money is getting gobbled up by every freakin' thing having a subscription service. Hell, even grocery stores are getting in to subscription services with companies like Hello Fresh...$9.99/mo and have your groceries delivered. UGH, ENOUGH!
I'm super excited we'll be returning to the BotW version of Hyrule for a direct continuation! I need MORE of this and I'm totally on-board!! I hope we get another beautiful Special Edition release like we did with the original (and in greater quantity please....that one was one of the most stressful preorders in recent memory).
I may have said "Nothing for me this week" but it's not really true. Since the eShop has their 50% off sale going on right now, I'm going to finally pick up Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition and I can't resist Collection of Mana. While I would love these physically, there's nothing in the boxes that can justify me getting them on a game card. 3rd parties never do nice box art, the inside is always just a blank white piece of paper, while at least 1st party games do nice designs on the inside and outside. And $45 for Vesperia digitally vs. $64.99 physically is a much better deal. I'm sure Collection of Mana won't be any different with its lackluster packaging so I might as well get it now and enjoy over the summer months!!!
I'm all for companies pulling manufacturing out of China. They have really crappy labour rights (pretty much nonexistent) and workplace safety standards (again, pretty much nonexistent). Move the manufacturing of the Switch to an actual democratic country that treats its workforce with dignity and respect. It's pretty much the reason I never shop at Walmart, and even when I absolutely have to, I always look for products made in Canada or countries that have good human rights records and credible labour rights.
@Beermonkey Lately Nintendo hasn't been giving North America anything. The last good special edition would have been for Breath of the Wild at launch. But now we get an artbook and they call it a day while other regions get other cool additions like the Steelbook. I've said it before and I'll say it again, regional exclusives suck...especially on a console like the Switch which is supposed to be region-free. Everyone, Europe/North & South America/Asia/Australia & New Zealand/Africa/anywhere Nintendo operates should have the same chance at the Special Editions. Make enough for every region to get some!!!!
@Luna_110 Same. I hope this game is a good entry point for a Dragon Quest noob like myself. I was going to pre-order this but it seems no retailer in Canada is offering any kind of E3 discount (unlike years past when every game shown at E3 got a corresponding 30% discount for pre-orders....ahh the good ol' days). As such, I'll probably pick this up a little down the line myself, maybe digitally if Nintendo offers up a My Nintendo 30% off coupon which they've done for the Dragon Quest games on 3DS before.
I thought it was cute. Nowhere near as awesome as the Nintendo Muppets sketch or even the Regginator but still, I love that Nintendo is a company that is always ready to poke fun at itself!
Hard pass. There's enough Atari collections on modern consoles if I really get the itch to play their games. Same thing with the Sega Genesis Classic, I'm not gonna get it. Especially since the Sega Genesis Collection on Switch is discounted as part of the current E3 sale on the eShop. I love my NES and SNES Classics but my collection of retro consoles will stop with them (unless Nintendo does end up giving us a N64 Classic or Game Boy Classic).
Really peeved that Nintendo keeps dumping their awesome special editions on Europe while they forego their largest market, North America. Same thing with the steelbook for Link's Awakening. UGH.
Nintendo investors are the absolute worst garbage people. Imagine how terrible the fallout would be if Animal Crossing was rushed out and was severely lacking. There's more to life than making a quick buck. I really wish Nintendo was a private company, then we wouldn't have to deal with ignorant investors meddling in things they know nothing about.
I'm super annoyed that Europe's Special Edition comes with a Game Boy steelbook case and the art book while in North America, we just get the art book. ARGH, Nintendo and their regional exclusives are such an annoyance. Everyone should have the ability to get these without having to pay import fees.
I'm excited for this game and I've never even played a DQ game before. I hope this will be a good entry in to the series. I've heard from others it was on 3DS but I don't really want to go back to that system knowing this version is on its way soon!
Pipe dreams to be sure but I would absolutely love a return of Advance Wars and Golden Sun. I feel like we have so many Fire Emblem games but as you say, I want to engage in some warfare with tanks and modern equipment rather than just swords and lances. There's room for both AW and FE on Switch. And Golden Sun, while yes the Switch isn't at a loss of some killer JRPGs, I'd love to see a new entry in this game or a remake of the original in HD graphics!
I still feel like a version of this game could have been made for Nintendo Switch. Will it look as good as the PS4 and XBone versions, no. But it's built of Unreal Engine which has Switch support. And since it's not an online experience like Battlefront, this game totally could have come to the Switch and been perfectly playable. And it wouldn't have been that dumbed down of a port either, not like how the Wii's Force Unleashed game was to the other consoles at the time. I think Respawn is just one of those developers that is inherently anti-Nintendo for no viable reason.
I'm always super careful when inserting/taking out game cards. Don't rush the process. But I don't have kids and never will. My electronics (Nintendo, Apple, Tamagotchis haha) are my children so I take really good care of them!
Definitely buying this on Switch!!! I loved the original Lego Star Wars games. I do hope that they take a cue from Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens and add voice tracks to the game. While the original games with their grunts were adorable at the time, I feel like we need voice-overs to modernize the Lego Star Wars games. But yeah I really can't wait for this. I know it's the Skywalker Saga but I hope they add content or DLC covering Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story....maybe even some Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels and Resistance content too! The more Star Wars in Lego form, the better!!!
I'm really bummed Splatfests are coming to an end. I don't like the new system because you can't guarantee a team of your friends and you don't play randoms. From what I understand, it's just Private Turf War where you have to get all your friends and then the team composition is made randomly from that list of people. There's a reason I don't play private Turf War, it's just not fun. I prefer making a team of 4 with my closest friends and then taking the battle to randoms online. Nintendo is missing out on a great opportunity to keep Splatoon 2 going until a true successor is announced. Splatfests take little to no effort in producing. I would even be fine if they reduced the number to bi-monthly or even once a season and have it run for the 72-hour tournament like this final one is happening. At least then it makes it an event and gives people great justification for keeping Nintendo Switch Online memberships active. Nintendo really needs to stop prematurely crippling their games. The moment Splatfests stopped on the Wii U original, that game's online community died. The same will happen with Splatoon 2. Maybe not as fast as the Wii U version did but it will. Even though a real successor is years away & likely won't even be until the next console. That said, I'll be going Team Order because I like the gear for them more than Team Chaos.
I stopped watching after the Splatoon portion. I love watching those matches but could care less about Smash Bros. Love to play the game, don't like watching the matches online. Besides I had to get in some Pokemon GO Community Day. I'm really bummed Splatfests are coming to an end. I don't like the new system because you can't guarantee a team of your friends and you don't play randoms. From what I understand, it's just Private Turf War where you have to get all your friends and then the team composition is made randomly from that list of people. @KingBowser @arcamenel I’m a gaymer as well. My hubby played this and enjoyed it on Steam. Maybe I’ll give it a go, haha! But I’m currently wooing all of the eligible men in Stardew Valley on Switch. Still, nice to see a game like this make its way to Switch!
A shame. I was interested in Persona 5 after playing as Joker in Smash Bros (and that was my only Persona experience ever). But I barely touch my PS4, Switch is just so much more convenient. I hope they change their minds, but maybe Atlus just doesn't like money.
Once again North America gets screwed on the "limited edition" or in this case, double pack. I would have loved that gold steelbook. But I don't want to pay the import fees. UGH, Nintendo, you gotta spread this love around.
The Apple Watch version of this app was absolutely terrible. It always required the phone to have the app running at the same time in my pocket. It would hardly ever notify me if there was a Pokemon nearby or a Pokestop...and the times it would notify me of a pokestop, the game would always crash when I tried to spin it from my wrist. It was soo poorly developed and conceived that I just gave up and went back to the far-superior Pokemon GO Plus (and later the Pokeball Plus) for catching Pokemon and spinning stops without my phone in my hand. And with those two devices, I could turn my phone's screen off and still use them. The Apple Watch is an incredible device but when developers don't give it the proper attention it deserves, the apps end up being hot messes.
As the son of an optometrist, this in NO WAY substitutes for an actual eye exam from a medical professional. I hope people aren't duped in to buying this, especially Canadians where your eye exams (depending on your age and location) are covered by your provincial public health insurance and absolutely are covered by workplace health insurance programs.
I'm kicking myself for missing out on the 30% off My Nintendo coupon that was up for Detective Pikachu 3DS in North America. I should have just redeemed the coins for the coupon. Ohh well. Maybe the Switch version will have a bit of a summary of the 1st game for those of us who never played it.
I'm excited for Fire Emblem: Hogwarts! Which frankly is what I'll always call this game. I have a special edition preordered! While the North American special edition isn't as nice as the European one, I have bought a special edition for every North American release of Fire Emblem and I'm not about to stop now. HAHA!
I really hope Nintendo announces either at E3 or very soon that they will be continuing on with Splatfests for the indefinite future. It sucks that we only have one more I think, before Nintendo shuts them down as per their original schedule. They're not that labour intensive to run. The dialogue for Marina and Pearl can be hammered out in a weekend, as can the Splatfest themes and t-shirt designs. What I'm trying to say is holding a Splatfest is not that much of a drain on Nintendo's resources, but it goes a LONG way to continuing a vibrant Splatoon community, not to mention provide a great justification for keeping Nintendo Switch Online accounts active. Do the right thing Nintendo!!!
Played this on Wii U and frankly I wasn't that big of a fan of it anyway & ended up trading it in for another game. I much preferred AC 4 from the Wii U era. Anyway I'll be giving this one a hard-pass.
@PigmaskFan That's the same argument university students use when they re-use a paper from one class for another. They're still guilty of plagiarism and the university will call you out on it and sanction you. Dude didn't read the rules, he got caught and he got disqualified. You can absolutely be found guilty of plagiarizing your own work.
Dude should have read the rules. No excuse. If the rules clearly stated that the content could not have been published elsewhere and had to be 100% completely unique just for this contest, then he should not have entered the contest. And he clearly outed himself in his public response, which he eventually deleted. I don't have any sympathy for him. Terms & Conditions exist for a reason people....read them, understand them before acting.
@LaytonPuzzle27 I realized that after I read through more comments. LOL! I hope that gets a HD remaster for Nintendo Switch. I've linked this article to my Twitter asking Disney & Star Wars directly to do it! Hope if enough people demand it to happen, Disney will take notice!
I want REAL Star Wars games on Switch, not Pinball. I would love to see an HD remake of Rogue Squadron. Frankly I think Jedi: Fallen Order should have been made available on Switch too. I don't see anything so far from what was revealed to indicate that the Switch couldn't run the game. It was made in Unreal Engine so the fact it's not on the Switch is just laziness on the developer's part (it's not an online-only game like Battlefront so therefore being able to play it on the go would have been perfect).
The physical version is a bit more enticing, in case I don't end up liking it and want to trade it in. I was going to buy digitally but I didn't have enough money to buy it when it had it's pre-order discount. Then they upped the price at launch and never offered a discount since. And frankly I think that's just bad form. Usually when companies offer a pre-order discount, the discount price lasts a day or two after launch as well. And literally I just needed to wait a couple extra days for my paycheque. So I've refused to buy it until there was another discount, or maybe I'll see if I can find a used physical copy to pick up eventually (as my little bit of spite towards the developers for a rather b***hy tweet they sent me). LOL
I'll be getting digital for this one. I have a 400GB microSD card so I'm not worried. I'll also be going for those game vouchers on Nintendo Switch Online to use towards this and Animal Crossing when it comes out. Still cheaper than buying both games separately.

I do think cloud saves should be supported. I'm a little worried. I've had to replace my Switch because the screen broke on my launch unit (the panel died on its own). Re: Review: Collection of Mana - Expensive, But Ultimately Worth Every Penny
@blackice85 I went and pre-ordered the physical edition based off the scans of the Japanese box art. Since the front is the same as the english front cover art, I'm hoping the insides are the same too. Such beautiful artwork makes me wish we were getting an artbook with this! Here's the website I used for the scans. https://www.mobygames.com/game/switch/seiken-densetsu-collection/cover-art/gameCoverId,407999/?fbclid=IwAR0gBXX5y2s1ASghjq2Nf7bDUnn-Pco1I26fuSGW_A7Bw-EdTx76p5ZLj9A - I'll just play Secret of Mana on my SNES Classic/Mini until this arrives!
Re: Review: Collection of Mana - Expensive, But Ultimately Worth Every Penny
Alright based off a Google search I found scanned images of the Japanese box art and there's some really nice interior artwork. So I've decided to go physical since the Japanese front cover is the same as the English one. This gives me hope that the interior artwork will be present in the English version as well! Pre-ordered from EB Games Canada!
Re: Review: Collection of Mana - Expensive, But Ultimately Worth Every Penny

I stopped watching after the Splatoon portion. I love watching those matches but could care less about Smash Bros. Love to play the game, don't like watching the matches online. Besides I had to get in some Pokemon GO Community Day. I'm really bummed Splatfests are coming to an end. I don't like the new system because you can't guarantee a team of your friends and you don't play randoms. From what I understand, it's just Private Turf War where you have to get all your friends and then the team composition is made randomly from that list of people.
Re: The Dating Simulator Dream Daddy Hooks Up With The Nintendo Switch
@KingBowser @arcamenel I’m a gaymer as well. My hubby played this and enjoyed it on Steam. Maybe I’ll give it a go, haha! But I’m currently wooing all of the eligible men in Stardew Valley on Switch. Still, nice to see a game like this make its way to Switch!
Re: There Is "No Plan" To Bring Persona 5 Royal To Other Consoles, Atlus Reiterates
A shame. I was interested in Persona 5 after playing as Joker in Smash Bros (and that was my only Persona experience ever). But I barely touch my PS4, Switch is just so much more convenient. I hope they change their minds, but maybe Atlus just doesn't like money.
Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Gets November Release Date And Special Double Pack Release
Once again North America gets screwed on the "limited edition" or in this case, double pack. I would have loved that gold steelbook. But I don't want to pay the import fees. UGH, Nintendo, you gotta spread this love around.
Re: Random: Bandai Namco Thinks Pokémon's New Legendary Looks Pretty Familiar
Reminded me of Repede from Tales of Vesperia.
Re: Pokémon GO Is Dropping Its Apple Watch Support
Re: A 3DS eShop Title Just Launched For An Eye-Watering $100
As the son of an optometrist, this in NO WAY substitutes for an actual eye exam from a medical professional. I hope people aren't duped in to buying this, especially Canadians where your eye exams (depending on your age and location) are covered by your provincial public health insurance and absolutely are covered by workplace health insurance programs.
Re: A New Detective Pikachu Game Has Been Announced For Nintendo Switch
I'm kicking myself for missing out on the 30% off My Nintendo coupon that was up for Detective Pikachu 3DS in North America. I should have just redeemed the coins for the coupon. Ohh well. Maybe the Switch version will have a bit of a summary of the 1st game for those of us who never played it.
Re: Famitsu Features New Details On Upcoming Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I'm excited for Fire Emblem: Hogwarts! Which frankly is what I'll always call this game. I have a special edition preordered! While the North American special edition isn't as nice as the European one, I have bought a special edition for every North American release of Fire Emblem and I'm not about to stop now. HAHA!
Re: Splatoon 2 v4.8.0 Update Keeps Things Fresh Behind-The-Scenes
Re: All Those amiibo On Your Shelf? You Can't Use Them In Super Mario Maker 2
This is a very strange turn of events. Hopefully Nintendo will patch amiibo support back in.
Re: Review: Assassin's Creed III Remastered - The Franchise Runt Gets A Clunky Switch Port
Played this on Wii U and frankly I wasn't that big of a fan of it anyway & ended up trading it in for another game. I much preferred AC 4 from the Wii U era. Anyway I'll be giving this one a hard-pass.
Re: Random: $10,000 Pokémon Competition Winner Reportedly Found To Have Violated The Rules
Re: Random: $10,000 Pokémon Competition Winner Reportedly Found To Have Violated The Rules
Re: Video: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Gets A Stunning HD Makeover In Unreal Engine 4
Re: Video: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Gets A Stunning HD Makeover In Unreal Engine 4
@LaytonPuzzle27 I have all 3 games & still play them to this day. I kept an old television just so I could keep playing my N64 & GameCube!
Re: Video: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Gets A Stunning HD Makeover In Unreal Engine 4
Re: More Addictive Space Combat Awaits As Everspace Gets Physical Release On Switch
LOL
Re: Here's How Much Space Super Mario Maker 2 Will Take Up On Your Switch
I'll be getting digital for this one. I have a 400GB microSD card so I'm not worried. I'll also be going for those game vouchers on Nintendo Switch Online to use towards this and Animal Crossing when it comes out. Still cheaper than buying both games separately.
