Remember people, if you only buy true physical media, it won't die. Vote with your wallet!! We should have put our foot down 20 years ago, but we have to do it now before it's too late.
Sure, some indie games could never have afforded physical, so that's fine to support them. But if it's a title from a big enough studio, hold out and voice your demand for physical until it comes!!
(Heck, even some small indie games get physical releases via LRG, etc.)
When digital distribution first hit the scene everyone gobbled it up because they were like "surely it'll be a lot cheaper!" And, it is for things like indie titles or the thousands of Steam titles that can be sold for a dollar. But, for full retail games digital was basically just surrendering ownership for convenience.
At least now you can save a few bucks if you don't care as much about the ownership aspect*.
*and code in box games are just the absolute worst of both worlds.
I like the DKC design better, but this design isn't new. It looks more like his original design which also looks more like his movie design. So, yea.... context.... history.... knowledge.
In the '90s, game prices had not settled into a norm. Some games were $90 back then (adjusted for inflation that would be $188 today). And that didn't "ruin the industry."
In addition, I feel like Sony, MS, and PC hardware have been making needlessly expensive tech and passing that cost onto consumers for 20 years now. Nintendo joins their trend and it's them who might "ruin the industry"?
And that's why the game bombed in the West .... oh wait, no, it was a huge success. I guess maybe even the West doesn't have much of a """Western audience""".
@juliobrand woowwww that's so cool!! Thank you very much for that info!
I was big into Marvel in the early 90s. That was my peak era, but I clearly didn't read much with Nova. 2000 ~ 2010 I sort of took a break from comics. So that explains how I missed that version of Captain Marvel.
Very exciting though!! I love the direction they are going with this game!!
At risk of losing my Marvel Fan Card, what version of Nova has flowing red hair? And is that Captain Marvel with the sword? Same question: when was that a thing??
Thank goodness for LRG. I keep hearing rumors that they are not great people? (I honestly don't know the story). But they are keeping physical games alive, and for that, I am super grateful.
Also, thank even MORE goodness for Play-Asia, the true heroes we all deserve, or need... whichever one is better.
Zero Escape, Somnium Files, RainCode, World's End Club, these are some of my absolute favorite games from the last 20 years. I desperately hope this studio, or at least these creators, are able to keep doing what they love as the years go on.
I'm obsessed with collecting Pokemon cards, but I'm never going to let the hobby turn into a stressor. When the cards are on the shelf, at a reasonable price, I will gobble them up. Otherwise, I can wait.
I enjoy them for the cool art, the glimpses at the lore, and that dopamine hit from opening randomness.
I don't treat Pokemon cards like a stock market or a retirement plan, so, stressing about stuff like this, while it is a bummer, would defeat the purpose of my hobby. (imo)
They are just straight up trolling at this point. They never really had a game to begin with, it's all been a scam to get attention and money for "bending" the rules (breaking imo), and then crying victim when they were punished for it.
If they are serious about being game devs, make original designs, tweak the capture mechanic, and stand on your own merit. Stop kicking a bee hive and complaining about stings.
I'm a huge TMNT fan, and I'm really glad they are going with a more old school version of the gang, but... this isn't doing it for me. Something about ninjas doesn't really feel like it meshes with grid- and turn-based gameplay.
I would much rather see this kind of thing become the norm, but, unfortunately Pokemon never lets their side games breathe for more than 2 or 3 releases.
Still nothing where me and a friend can team up against the CPU like we could in Gen 4? It was so nice to combine pokemon and social interaction but without the putrid stench of THE META GAME. (just my opinion)
Mobile gaming is not really capable of providing ownership or pricing models that I can live with. So, the focus on mobile for this event was really disappointing for me.
No thanks. My big sadness about 3DS and DS games is that it is going to forever be hard to get them ported to new systems. I don't want that to happen again.
This looks heckin' awesome!!!!!! My only concern is that I have not played any Shinobi games aside from the PS2 entry. I'd heard that the 2D ones were super hard. I dunno if I'm up for that kind of challenge in 2025. But for now, I'll put this game in the "very interested" column.

Re: Hori's Switch 2 Piranha Plant Camera Has Much Worse Resolution Than Nintendo's
I'm very glad you can use whatever camera you want. Options are nice!!

The mix of 2D and 3D doesn't work for me here. And that character design could be wonderful, but the face ruins it for me. Just my opinion.
