Re: Former Star Fox Programmer Would Be Interested In Making A New Entry Without The "Gimmicks"

BlueKnight07

The original game was a very challenging but fun on-rails shooter in the arcade style. Star Fox 64 had that but also added 3D dog fighting and a more cinematic presentation (at least for the time).

The problems surfaced in the GameCube era...I realize Adventures and Assault had their own merits, but they were not the same game. They were reinventions that weren't asked for at the time. Command was a more fully realized Star Fox 2, but it still had a spinoff feel. Then the 3DS gets a 64 remake to remind us how good it was, followed by Zero a few years later. Zero was not horrible, but really suffered from the "gimmick" problem. It felt a little rushed to me as well.

If Nintendo would just give us a very normal feeling game for Switch, I think it could do the same number Metroid Dread could do.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light - We've Come A Long Way In 30 Years

I will say, Shadow Dragon on the DS addressed a lot of the concerns expressed here. The issues with the healers was addressed. This version gives you the ability to erase turns, though, if that it was what you would prefer. It's graphics are objectively better, though some may prefer the 8-bit style this offers. Shadow Dragon went for a more painterly/realistic style that just seemed out of place.

Re: We Won't Get A Nintendo Direct This June For E3, Says Report

The biggest problem is that Xenoblade Chronicle DE is the biggest known quantity of the horizon right now, and that's the end of May. That will probably be my favorite game this year, and I'm enjoying the Switch backlog and Warframe in the meantime. But I can understand how this can be frustrating.

I'm sure they'll find a way to announce things, even if it is not a Direct. I'm assuming the main problem is that release dates are hard to confirm right now. They probably want to announce things closer to launch at this point.

Re: Random: Xbox Series X? That's Just A Tall GameCube, The Twitter Masses Say

@Trajan @westman98 The current knowledge is that both will be using AMD Zen 8-core processors at about 3.5 Ghz. I think I heard somewhere that PS5 clocks a little bit faster. The big question is storage and price...PS5 is going all in on SSD to make load times invisible. I'm not sure what this one will do. Series X may be the "close enough and a little cheaper" option of the two.

Re: Overwatch Players Will Have Access To All Of The Sequel's PvP Multiplayer Content

BlueKnight07

Thought I would try to clear up a couple things...

The word from Blizzcon has not been 100% consistent, but OW1 multiplayer basically updates into OW2 multiplayer. You can own OW1 and keep getting the new OW2 multiplayer updates. The main reason for this I think is maintaining consistency in multiplayer games and preserving the multiplayer pool. Blizzard is still pushing this as an export, after all.

So, all that is actually for sale for OW2 are two game modes, both of which are co-op games against enemy AI. Whether that makes OW2 worth the money is a legitimate question.
