Re: Brawlout Has Passed 50k Sales on the Switch

BlueKnight07

I've been playing Brawlout some, and it is legit. I wish there were more characters for sure, but the mechanics are solid, but different enough to allow for more aggressive play. The characters already there have their own unique feel. For the price it's worth a go.

Well thought out piece, though I think this represents what most people want and I keep waiting for the "not exactly what you wanted but still special in it's own way" Nintendo weirdness to kick in.

I do hope the online and VC is explained. Smash Bros. Switch would really make my day, even if it's a deluxe edition. That game deserves more time in the sun.

Past that, hoping for streaming apps, info on Kirby and Yoshi, Fire Emblem (seems like a safer bet not getting mentioned much), some third party surprises. For some reason I think Bayonetta is more likely than Metroid or Pokemon. Anything Retro is working on would steal the show for me.

Re: Breath of the Wild Developers Discuss the Zelda Timeline

BlueKnight07

I remember reading an interview with Miyamoto a long time ago, and he was asked where Oracle of Ages and Seasons fit in the timeline. He never really answered, but said that Zelda is more like a tv drama, as in many episodes with their own stories with a very loose continuity.

I also remember how the opening to Skyward Sword explained that the different stories truly are true legends that never perfectly connect. To me, that's a big part of what makes Zelda Zelda. Getting frustrated with the timeline is missing the point.

That said, I think we'll one day find out the different timelines converged and Breath of the Wild is the furthest in the future. There's too many references to the three timelines not to be. The map references the downfall and child lines a lot. But then there's Rito and Koroks from the adult timeline in the game. It'll be a long time before we really know.

Learning this game was coming was when I realized Bethesda was being for real about the Switch and wasn't playing around. It was also the point where naysayers had to draw back and acknowledge the Switch has something to offer console and pc gamers. Maybe not the best graphics, but serviceable graphics and same gameplay on a portable system.

@AG_Awesome I have to agree. As much as I loved Street Fighter, Killer Instinct, etc. I could never get good enough at thumb rolls to play well. Smash has been my fighting game ever since.

Re: Reggie on Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon Sales Performance on the Switch

BlueKnight07

It's been a good year, without question. It's amazing looking back that all these titles were coordinated for the first year, really the first nine months since the launch. Bayonetta 1+2 is still to come for year one. Just bring out SSB Switch and we'll probably have another at 50%.

The attach rates are impressive for any Zelda or Mario game. Part of it may be getting them in the first year, but they're amazing entries, to boot. Spatoon 2 is the big surprise for me. Who knows, it and ARMS may keep a slow burn and surprise some more. It's a good time to be a Nintendo gamer. 😊

@SLIGEACH_EIRE just wanted to say I'm glad to see you got a Switch. I like my Wii U a lot, too, and still use it. I honestly never felt like that hardware had a fair chance to shine. But I do think you'll like the Switch and those games. I would encourage you to look into I am Setsuna on eshop based on your selections. MK8, ARMS and Splatoon 2 are still very good for online multiplayer if you want that. Hope to keep seeing you post, it's always been fun to read.

Re: Review: WWE 2K18 (Switch)

To me this represents everything wrong with most big third party games...may be a great concept and loaded with content in the end, but money usually gets in the way of polish or available content at release. In this case there seems to be no QA at all. Or there's so much of a hidden charge (microtransactions) to really play the game that it can't be worth it. Or you have to buy an SD card even after you buy a physical version. Why is Capcom the company that seems to be figuring this out?!

Sry about the rant, there's some good stuff on Switch now and more incoming. Just gets frustrating when a game like this comes along.

Re: Poll: Capcom is Finally Bringing Mega Man Back - Are You Excited?

BlueKnight07

The one thing that really irked me the most during the N64 days was watching a lot of my favorite series drift over to PlayStation. Mega Man was chief among them. I appreciated the games that did go to later consoles, but not all of them ever came over.

But with the announcements, I see a completely legit attempt by Capcom to give Nintendo gamers the complete main line of Mega Man games, the X games too, of course. Personally, I'm very happy to see that. Hopefully this means Capcom is now taking the Switch seriously for it's other franchises. Time will tell, I guess.

Re: Mega Man 11 Confirmed For Switch In 2018

Wow, just wow...

I do like the art style. The main concern I have is how the game control/feels. The number one criticism of MM7 (wasn't a problem to me, but for many others) was that the timing of jumps and so on felt off compared to the NES games. Hopefully controls are good. The design is a clear jab at Mighty No. 9 in my eyes.
