Re: Blizzard Has No Plans To Add Cross-Platform Progression To Overwatch Right Now

BlueKnight07

I've played Overwatch on PC since the beginning, and I'm going to throw a few things out here for people that may be confused. The article could have been more thorough...

The only things I can think of that could have carried over on a cross save are 1) cosmetic skins and other cosmetic items that you get through loot boxes; 2) replay data; 3) your experience level and competitive ranking data. Acquired cosmetics are a sticking point I guess, but it's not like the default skins are terrible. I'm not a lootbox fan, but this is one of less offensive versions of it to me. I just wouldn't buy them.

I can understand the crossplay to a point. The PC community has always been separate from consoles because of mouse v. right stick aiming. Gyro aiming raises an interesting question, though. Personally I think what is fair would be to have Switch community to itself until it's sorted out how well the gyro aim works, then put it with PC or console.

I've heard a lot about the lack of a physical, too, and felt the need to say this. Overwatch is regularly being added to with characters, maps, game modes, seasonal events, I could go on. I am generally first in line for a physical game, but Overwatch really is more like Warframe where it makes more sense as a download. The game card just isn't that useful for this one.

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 4th September

BlueKnight07

My guesses...

Overwatch is real with a release date. That would make an amazing Direct for me already.

Last sales pitches for Luigi's Mansion 3, Link's Awakening, and Pokemon. Nintendo is counting on those for the holidays and as evergreen titles, too. This will probably take more time than people want it to.

Fire Emblem DLC get's a preview.

It baffles me that they are still focusing on 2019. There still might be a Wii U port in the wings for this year, but it's hard for me to imagine another major 1st party game butting up against Pokemon. I could see some other 3rd parties like Doom Eternal getting a mention, though. Overwatch should dominate any 3rd party conversations, really.

If they are really releasing SNES games on NSO, the time is now.

I don't know about immediately, but a release date for Banjo, followed by a trailer for Terry Bogard. I think that's a sure bet.

The "one more thing" will either be a meatier trailer for BOTW 2 or Bayonetta 3. I've given up on seeing anything from Retro for now, Metroid or otherwise.

Re: The Evercade Handheld's Latest Cartridge Features Several Rare SNES Games

BlueKnight07

Gotta say, this will probably be a niche system, but the sheer number of games coming on these cartridges make me smile.

Nintendo could be selling a lot of these with their own games for Switch right now. They could have had an NES Classic Pack 1 with the plug and play's games, or one for the SNES version with Star Fox 2 on the Switch. Or helping Interplay, etc. publish some of these with their games. I just have to shake my head.

Re: Video: We've Been Playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses And Now We're Excited For More

BlueKnight07

@NEStalgia I get what your saying about the school setting, but I'm still excited to see what Intelligent Systems does with it. The whole point of the school to me storywise is the leaders of the three houses went to school together and had more friendly rivalries, but for some reason they're now at war. It also seems to be a vehicle for influencing the main campaign to an extent I don't think has been done before.

But then again, the reviews may end up with a common thread of "once you get through the tedious school section, the games gets really good." At least we don't have long to wait.

Re: Switch Lite Reveal Sees Nintendo Shares Soar To Highest Point In Nine Months

BlueKnight07

The Switch Lite really isn't for most of the people commenting on it. It's meant to convince parents to buy their younger children a Nintendo handheld because it's $100 cheaper. Or to buy it as a second Switch to stop the siblings (or significant other) from fighting over time with the first one.

The good news is it will expand the install base on an already healthy Switch games library. More third party support should follow. That benefits everybody.

Re: Square Enix Also Exploring The Idea Of Its Own Subscription Or Streaming Service

BlueKnight07

While I do appreciate Square wanting to make the library always available digitally (to me that is the good side of the virtual console, steam, eshop, etc.) I really wish they would drop this streaming talk. The bottom will fall out on all of the subscriptions and the industry will crash eventually.

There is a place for free to play online games, Warframe showed me that. But as someone who had to recently move to a rural place with no internet going down the road, streaming is the worst thing that could happen to me.

Re: Original Banjo-Kazooie Team "Pleased" About Duo's Return, But Unsure A New Game "Would Sell"

BlueKnight07

Grant Kirkhope raises a good question. Yooka-Laylee's critical reception doesn't help matters much, either.

Rare is in an odd state. Totally different personnel that in my mind used Sea of Thieves as a way of trying to learn to make a real game again after Kinect software. But they are making a Battletoads game now. Time will tell.

I do think that if Microsoft seriously supported a Banjo-Kazooie game, people would get excited and buy it, Xbox or not.

Re: Switch Overtakes Nintendo 64 Lifetime Sales, According To New Estimates

BlueKnight07

Not surprised but glad to see. The N64 was a good console, but it also marked a time for me when Nintendo's 3rd party went downhill. The library it had was good, but it was also the time for me when Mega Man left for PlayStation, along with a ton of RPG's.

The one thing I like most about the Switch is how it seems to be get so many of the games Nintendo gamers may have missed out on over the years, from the Mega Man X Collection to all of the Final Fantasy games. The Switch is almost my favorite console now, under the SNES. Give me a few of those and I may change my mind.

Re: Mortal Kombat 11's $100 Premium Edition Contents Revealed

BlueKnight07

@MaxlRoseGNR yeah, that's the reality...Switch is actually getting major 3rd party releases now. But Switch owners are experiencing the business practices that publishers have learned to get away with since the PS3 and XB360 era.

Akkording to people who previewed the game in handheld, the frame rate looked good and the sakrifices were in lighting, etc. Plays good but not as good looking as the trailers. I'm guessing WB doesn't want Switch komparisons on YouTube. I'd say this is a safe buy but I'd wait for a sale or an XL edition or something for me...just not that hardkore for this one...
