Re: Exploring The Legalities Of Sony's Fortnite Restrictions On Nintendo Switch

BlueKnight07

I'm an attorney, though I don't work in Intellectual property. What I can say on a basic level here is that gamers probably couldn't win in court because they don't have what's called "standing". Standing in this case means you can sue Sony because Sony is violating a contractual relationship with you and you're actually being hurt by this violation. The EULA probably won't work for that.

Epic may have standing to sue Sony (lost sales on game transactions because Sony prevented cross-play, accounts carrying over). The thing is, would Epic really want to pick that fight? They probably want to see other games on PlayStation in the future, so why rock the boat?

The only good answer I see is for PlayStation sales to sink and people buy for the other platforms. Sony would have to listen then.

Re: You Can Now Pre-Order Those Sweet GameCube Controllers For Nintendo Switch

BlueKnight07

Personally, I just played Smash on the controllers of the day as the new games were released. It does make me appreciate why some would prefer the GC controller, though. To me it was one of the best Nintendo ever came out with. It just felt good in my hands playing Melee.

Personally, after seeing the PowerA knockoff I wish they had just designed a pro controller based on the GC mold. It would've been the best of both worlds, just give it a ZL trigger, make the C-stick analog, and add the +, -, Home and capture buttons.

Re: Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aimé Talks About His Feelings On Leaks In Gaming

BlueKnight07

I have to agree with Reggie. They're hard to resist learning about but it takes a lot of surprise away.

I was on YouTube watching E3 vids a lot this week. After the Direct, I was constantly seeing the Fortnite ad. On one video the ad triggered on me twice, not 10 seconds apart! That was clearly supposed to be the shocker of E3, and it wasn't. At least it's being downloaded a lot.

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Plummets In Response To E3 Direct

BlueKnight07

2018 was clearly about getting Smash Bros. and the Let's Go Pokemon games out, and Nintendo was and still is banking on them being mega hits. It also makes sense now when you think about the marketing Mario Tennis Aces and the Wii U ports have been getting. Nintendo really did need them to sell well. I think everybody was expecting more major third party releases and it didn't happen.

The thing is, Let's Go could have ridiculous sales potential. And this SSB Ultimate game is clearly going to be the ultimate SSB. It oughta sell. I'm thinking the stock market is getting too jittery and needs to calm down.

Re: EA Says Madden 19 Isn't Coming To Switch Because It's "What's Best" For The Game

BlueKnight07

I never really expected much from EA, and I wouldn't buy Madden if it was coming.

Like other commenters, I agree the reality is that not all games are coming to Switch. I think they could have used FIFA's engine and made it happen, though.

After Bethesda's conference I'm starting to think more mobile ports will come. That definitely seems to be their theory on it unless they surprise me with Doom Eternal.

Re: Bill Trinen Discusses Smash Bros. Invitational 2018, Won’t Disclose Whether It’s A Port Or New Game

BlueKnight07

Might as well talk about the roster too lol...

1) Inkling will be one character with boy/girl skins.

2) Link is getting a BOTW overhaul on his moveset, so kind of a new character.

3) ARMS will bring Springman and Ribbon Girl to the roster. This will be highlighted for E3 Direct.

4) Ice Climbers and Wolf make their return.

5) Bomberman and Simon Belmont are added as 3rd party characters. Snake returns.

6) Besides that...Rex from Xenoblade 2 is very realistic. I don't think Ridley and K. Rool will ever happen (though I want them). I'm looking for a DK character after Tropical Freeze, though...Dixie, Cranky, Funky, one of those.

Re: Bill Trinen Discusses Smash Bros. Invitational 2018, Won’t Disclose Whether It’s A Port Or New Game

BlueKnight07

I feel like everyone is getting too hung up on the port debate, to be honest. I don't thing they would be hyping a port this much. I think the Wii U version is a base and they reworked it to the point that it's not a port like the other Wii U games have been. A lot of assets will get reused, but there are going to be new characters and stages. If this game is just SSB4 with Splatoon added in, there would be a riot and I think Nintendo knows that. I don't think Samurai would be that involved with a simple port, either.

That said, I don't think core gameplay will evolve that much. SSB4 was close to perfect for many. This really shouldn't be a total rework either.

Re: Rumour: Hastily Updated Amazon Listing Suggests Fallout 76 Will Arrive On 31st July

BlueKnight07

@JaxonH Not everything is coming, I agree. Fallout 76 is definitely not announced for Switch so far. I do think (or want to think) they have something for their conference that no one has leaked. I just felt there was a lot of people ruling any Bethesda games out. I do think Fallout 3 or New Vegas will more likely happen (well remembered, can run on Switch). I think the first Wolfenstein is possible if Wolfenstein II sells.

Re: Rumour: Hastily Updated Amazon Listing Suggests Fallout 76 Will Arrive On 31st July

BlueKnight07

It seems the community is still in the "Switch is not getting the latest AAA games" mindset.

The mindset is probably still valid. And I am not an insider by any means, but I do think Nintendo is the only company with any big E3 surprises still yet.

There is a spark of hope inside me that thinks Bethesda has more in store for the Switch. Maybe not Fallout 76, but something. We are definitely in an era where Nintendo gamers and journalists are paying more attention to Bethesda. That's progress to me.

Re: The Virtual Console Isn't Coming To Switch, Nintendo Confirms

BlueKnight07

I feel very lukewarm about it all right now. On one hand, I feel like I'm getting the answers I've waited for. On the other, I can't help but feel like this could've been better.

I'm not surprised that there isn't a plan to buy VC games all over again. Subscription seems like a logical answer. I personally didn't mind the discount the my did with Wii U. I actually like how they've added online play to these games. At least Nintendo is bringing something new to the table with these.

I still have my VC games on Wii U, it's not the end of the world for me. What bothers me is there are a lot of games I was looking forward to playing on my Switch that I don't expect to now. It looks like I'll really have to buy an SNES Classic to play Star Fox 2. What about getting SSB Melee on Switch? F-Zero GX? I'm not convinced a subscription service will include all of this. I don't want to do emulators and roms, either.

I can't help but find it odd that Sega, Capcom, etc. are trying to churn out collections for retail while Nintendo is doing this other stuff. I think it's all about the classic mini systems for Nintendo this generation.

I'm happy to hear about the cloud saves and transferring accounts, that was good. I'm not convinced people will use the cellphone as voice chat system. The whole thing is very muddled to me.
