Re: Pokémon Fans Get '#GameFreakLied' Trending As Sword And Shield Drama Intensifies Yet Again

@Ashunera84 I fully agree that toxic criticism isn't good. The extremes for both sides of the argument are, I'd like to say the very vocal minority for the situation. I'm sitting solidly in camp "disappointment" as I don't think the cuts are worth the additions, but I'm also not going to literally send threatening messages to anyone on the development team. I feel like my criticisms are valid and I've gone in very level-headed as to not totally skew my arguments.

So much hate in these comments today.

Y'all need to stop trying to censor criticism and hide behind the proverbial "shield" of, "Pokemon Fans are all insane" or "Gamers are just so entitled".

If your internet company went from offering unlimited data, to capping at 50gb of data and charged you more, saying "Well, now the internet speed is CRAZY fast!" and you find out that, no the internet speed isn't any faster, they just hiked the price up, cut your data, and lied to your face about it, you'd be no doubt infuriated and feel betrayed (As well you SHOULD feel that way!). This is the same type of scenario in a different, non game-centric situation.

Without criticism, we cannot grow and be better. A good example of something taking criticism and just absolutely making the best possible change is the Sonic Movie. The character design was uncanny as heck and didn't appeal to classic OR modern fans (generally speaking). They took time, delayed the final product, hired someone who is a massive fan of the property, and FIXED IT. He looks AMAZING now! We wouldn't have gotten this if there was no criticism.

So before you hastily type up a reply to curse me for defending the criticism, maybe take a moment to reflect on what COULD be if there was no criticism in the world.

I am honestly in full agreement with those concerned about the family friendly nature of this site (and the sister sites). You should absolutely have an option to turn off more "risque" articles like this one if the content makes you uncomfortable or you're very young. You might run into some legal troubles too, if you're not protected in your user agreement.

Re: Soapbox: Attacking Pokémon Creator Game Freak Isn't Cool, But Biting Back Isn't The Answer

Literally saying criticism isn't welcome and that we should all just buy the game or not isn't a healthy way of thinking. If we can't take criticism, and use it to better ourselves or our projects (whatever they be) then how can we grow?

The people who are being nasty are the vocal minority. The majority of people disappointed by how Game Freak has treated Pokemon in this release are just that; Disappointed!

You all remember EA's Battlefront 2, and the horrific monetization scheme they tried to pull? It's the people's outrage that stopped it. The game is still ruined from the nasty poisonous design at it's core, but at least the people made a point so loud that they HAD to change it.

I for one will not be buying this game or supporting it in any way, because I speak not only with my criticisms towards the way the Pokemon franchise is being handled (as a Gen 1'er as we're so "lovingly" called), but I speak with my money, too, and that's one of the only languages corporations understand.

TL;DR, Don't censor or dismiss criticism, or these companies can get away with literally anything.

Re: Ninja Thinks Pro Players And Streamers Who Cheat Should Be Treated Differently

Azikira

So what he's saying is, if you're not famous then to heck with you? What a self entitled heckoff!

The stakes aren't actually different! Anyone HAS the potential to make a living off streaming or content creation. If you're going to cheat, and break the rules of the User Agreement (which BTW y'all should READ any contract you sign!) then you deserve the exact same punishment anyone else would get. No special treatment whatsoever!

If this was a single player game, then who cares. But it's literally an online competitive game, where oftentimes cash money is put up as a prize for tournaments of it. He got exactly what he deserved, and I sincerely hope he takes this opportunity to reflect, observe what he did wrong, why it went the way it did, and grow as a person. Making this a slap on the wrist for him would entirely negate this healthy opportunity for a dash of realism in his life and the chance to be a better person.

Re: Could All Pokémon Featured In Nintendo's Nostalgic Sword And Shield Ad Be Included In The Galar Pokédex?

Azikira

Okay call me cynical but wow, was this in bad taste! As someone who's been playing since Blue version back in the 90's, to show off all the old pokemon being played on the old systems, and it MAGICALLY gets upgraded to the new system/game, while they have already confirmed the National Dex is not returning is just a HUGE slap to the face to classic Pokemon fans.

Yep, this is the last nail in the coffin for me. I will absolutely not pay money for Sword or Shield.

Re: "Savage" Arena Shooter Demon Pit Brings Hellish FPS To Switch

Azikira

When I read "Arena Shooter" and saw the different character models I was actually really excited. I thought this was supposed to be a Quake-style affair with other players picking up different weapons and fighting each other in different hell-based locations.
So I watched the video... And immediately lost all interest. It's just a single player wave survival game in a single location... Blehhhh the potential, so squandered.
