Konami – known for video game series like Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, and Pro Evolution Soccer – has plans to work with more "globally known IPs" for consoles.

During an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Konami Europe president Masami Saso shed some light on the Japanese company's future, explaining how console games would continue to be "the most important" part of the business and revealing plans to increase its portfolio:

We challenge for innovative ideas and technology within our console games and apply them to other devices, so we will continue to put effort into our console games. We also plan to increase our portfolio. In addition to the multi-device titles for PES and Yu-Gi-Oh, we plan to work on projects with other globally known IPs in the near future.

This year marks the publisher's 50th Anniversary in the video game industry. Saso believes it is part of the company's "legacy to create new ideas and IPs" that fit in with each age.

On the Switch front, Konami recently released Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution. In our review, we gave the game seven out of ten stars and said the Nintendo release was the best version yet and one of the most enjoyable card games on the system.
