Re: Poll: A Week On, How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?

Azikira

Like I mentioned before I'm excited for the system itself, but everyone publishing games on it are making me sick. The games are ludicrously overpriced, to a point where it's BEGGING to have the system fail. I understand charging a fair price for your product, but it's not fair to charge 4x as much for a game that already has been out for years just because you ported it to a new system. That's a load of bullsnobbery. You're shooting the Switch in the foot before it even leaves the gate.

Re: First Impressions: Round One With Ultra Street Fighter II On Nintendo Switch

The problem I have with this game is (well, besides the fact that I can't play with the stiff controls very well) they're selling it as a game with new characters, but the characters are just pallete swaps of existing characters, which I'm sure took very little actual effort to do.

I would have been much more impressed if they took the time to create two NEW characters for the game, anyone from future Street Fighter games (perhaps a new Street Fighter V character, and one from a previous game) and condensed them down to the platform. Imagine characters like Hakan, F.A.N.G., Alex, Rashid, or any of the other memorable characters from future games being brought back to change up the game. I'd be much more eager to support it!

Re: Soapbox: You Should Probably Avoid Capcom's Mega Man Mobile Ports

There's actually a way to make the game stutter less. In the options menu, you can set the speed. Setting it to high will effectively double the frame-rate, and makes the game much more playable.
I've reached out to Capcom to see if they support bluetooth controllers, but so far no response. Either way, for TWO BUCKS it's not the worst. Do you guys even REMEMBER that auto-running Mega Man X garbage that came out on iPhones? I also do like that they have different difficulty levels here.

They aren't TOTAL garbage, but it's an odd choice for touch-screen for sure. That, and the framerate issue DOES stink, but it's still a good price.

@Pod I could see the Dig Dug game BECOMING good, but what was there is not good. I'm not even kidding when I say I can't express my love enough for Dig Dug, and this tech demo just hurts me so badly because I CAN see an idea there. The above-ground sections looked really bad, like a shovelware Wii title cough Anubis II cough and just make no sense to me, and the transitions from above to underground were just so jagged and weird. I did love that super fat Fygar, and the cannon that shoots enemies at you, but it could be handled so much better.
THAT'S IT, TIME TO MAKE MY OWN DIG DUG GAME.

That Wii Batman looks kind of terrible, which makes me wish it was actually released. I am coming to terms with my masochistic gaming tendencies.

Something seems just a little bit off about the Devil May Cry game. I know it's a port of the original, but something there isn't right and rubs me the wrong way.

LOL when those lasers just froze mid-air in the Tie Fighter one! KYLO REN CONFIRMED. I'd actually think this one would be awesome on Wii, all things considered!

OH GOD, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY BELOVED DIG DUG?! I'm SO glad that catastrophe didn't come out! I love Dig Dug, it's my absolute favorite arcade game, but this thing looks horrible! The perspective is totally wonky, the underground tunnels appear in a layer closer to the screen than the actual DIRT (which makes SOOOOOO much sense. Not.), the harpoon looks more like an eel, and it can travel SO far through the dirt. In the original, you could only travel through very thin dirt, but that one has like no limit. And those segment transitions, BLEUGH!! That game looks like trash. I'll stick with my Dig Dug Arrangement, thank you.

Re: Feature: Exploring the Licensed Content in RCMADIAX Games on the Wii U and New 3DS eShop

This is one of the saddest days I've seen here on NintendoLife.

I used to make games all using pre-existing graphics and sounds, without express written permission by the creators, but in that same vein I never actually sold any of them and they were all practice for me. I understand that by selling games, a lot of legal issues come into play. The fact of the matter is, even though the article clearly repeats using terms like "perfectly legal", it still feels like an attack piece. There was clearly nothing good that would come from this article, the way it was written.

NL, I'd highly suggest either rewriting this article so it's not targeting ONE person, or removing it entirely, because at this point it's complete backlash and could even be considered harassment.

The developers are really nice and clearly passionate about their project! I hope everything goes well and the game is well received!

Re: retroUSB's HDMI NES, the AVS, Goes Up for Pre-Order

I actually just bought Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril from this site and I was so sad to see it didn't work on the Retron 5, so I had to buy a Retro-Duo console just to play it. It's the Mario (Mascot) edition though so at least it'll be an interesting conversation piece, along with my R-Zone. I'd love to buy this thing but like a lot of people are saying, $185 is quite a lot for a new-aged NES but to be fair there's a lot of quality going into this thing and I'm sure it's worth every penny for NES enthusiasts!

I was really excited for the launch, and I wasn't expecting to like the Blast Ball mode (which I kind of don't) but it's nice to get a feel for the game. Funny enough, I think it works better WITHOUT the Pro Controller add-on. Blast Ball however I never expected to be good, with skilled players easily stuck in a constant deadlock. Hopefully adding actual enemies will liven things up a bit.
