Probably just info for some of the upcoming games. I won't expect any new games to be announced, but I have plenty of stuff to be excited for already.

Ecto-1 said:

This is probably just wishful thinking, but I would love to hear announcements about Smash Bros and Mario Kart.

ThomasBW84 said:

@MrSRArter "Wii U Direct - Nintendo Games" Nintendo Direct will be broadcast worldwide", it's also described as a "global edition" in the PR, so we're looking at coverage for all regions it seems.

EvilLucario said:

Guys, before boarding the hype train, DO NOT expect new stuff like a new Metroid, Zelda, or 3D Mario. I'm expecting more on the levels of system updates and some cool new features, like how an update added 3D recording for the 3DS.

What I'm hoping for in this Nintendo Direct? I want to have folders back, more info about the eShop (mostly info about more developer-driven sales), and more apps available. Also, I would like to see TVii take a bigger priority for Nintendo. Yeah, they're a video game company first and foremost, but TVii is a system with huge potential, and I want to see it on its highest quality.

if Mr. Iwata is smelling trouble in the water it would probably be better just to go ahead and release Pikmin 3 ahead of the May schedule instead of announcing planned games in the near future, I mean we already have the list... from what I hear Pikmin was finished already but they didn't want to step on toes of 3rd party developers and let them have the limelight before they stole the show with their stellar first party titles.

I don't know why they are freaking out. It might not be selling as hot as the original Wii, but it still has sold DOUBLE the amount PS3 did in its first 2 months of life, and 4 times the amount the 360 did in its first 2 months.... By normal console standards the Wii U has been a success.

NintyMan said:

They need to reveal the exact release date for Game & Wario, pronto. It was slated for a launch window release last year, which meant that it was coming before the end of March. I was concerned that Nintendo was going to end up delaying it, but it seems like it still has a chance of releasing in March after all. I see no reason for delaying the game anyway since all it is is a minigame collection and not an RPG or platformer.

I'm not going to expect any major game announcements, that way I won't be disappointed if there aren't any or I will be surprised if there is one.

erv said:

@Damo lol not to worry

Without yelling "all new zelda! all new f-zero!" for no reason, I assume something we already knew. If not, I hope for something along the lines of the wonderful 101 or anything great.

NintyMan said:

Wait, so there will be new games? No wonder the Hype Train's horn is tooting.

All right, I'll play along. Admit two tickets to Donkey Kong Island and Yoshi's Island.

GuardianKing said:

Announces new Zelda, Metroid, and a KI:U port.

World explodes.

SEGA announces Dreamcast 2.

World explodes again.

Miyamoto makes a new franchise.

Get the Pandorica.

soracloud28 said:

The tweet says " reveal new gameS" games as in plural. I'm expecting one big title. And maybe a few eshop exclusive 1st party titles

MrWalkieTalkie said:

I think maybe Yoshi's Land since its pretty much been unveiled thanks to leaks, so why hold its existence back?

BakaKnight said:

A new Nintendo Direct!!!
I'm excited even if I still don't own a WiiU XD

Just too bad I won't be able to watch it live... But can't wait to check it out when I'll be back home!!!

Hope they will announce... I honestly don't care the details, just keep streaming Nintendo ^O^

Whopper744 said:

I'm going into this not expecting anything new this time. Just more talk about already announced stuff

sgotsch said:

What a tease! My Wii U should have been shipped yesterday, but they will ship it tomorrow instead. I'm dying here. ;o

Byuu said:

What do you don't understand in "Mr Iwata will reveal new games for #WiiU"??

SLiM said:

A Zelda announcement would be awesome, but I would be just as surprised with an Earthbound announcement.

gedden said:

I'm expecting some ports and new 3rd party games as well as Wario, Wonder 101, New Leaf and game that we already new about. and this was SOOOOO NEEDED! Plus software updates, YES!

ohhaime said:

I bet Miyamoto made a new small-ish game for the Wii U e-Shop.

Also a new Dillions Rolling Western game for Wii U would be a dream.Especially if it was a Zelda like adventure game or a turn based RPG.

Shworange said:

I hope by his tweet that new really means we haven't heard of them before. Cautiously optimistic.

EvilLucario said:

Whoooooooooo! 2013 is awesome!

Anyways, if that's the case... I want to see a new Ace Combat game for the Wii U! That, plus a new F-Zero and Wave Race. A person can dream, right?

Folkloner said:

'new games' could mean new games to be released soon, as in upcoming games, in which case it would be heavily focused on announcing release dates. This is what I think is most likely.

LavaTwilight said:

What aren't I looking forward to!?!
I'd love to see TVii come to UK/Europe! I'd love to see the announcement of VC on WiiU so I don't have to keep going into the WiiChannel just for VC games but of course to see NGC games on the WiiU VC too!
Since it's a WiiU Direct I don't expect anything for 3DS but I would love some more GBA titles for the 3DS VC, maybe having some ambassador games made available at a premium premium cost, as well the Zelda Oracle games from the GBC.
I would LOVE for Pikmin 3 to be brought ahead of schedule. A new F-Zero game, though it seems unlikely based on Nintendo's comments, unless of course they were just teasing us: "O you want a new F-Zero, hm, yeah, we had no idea... well maybe BWAHAHAHAHAAAAA"

ultraraichu said:

Sweet, hope they announce the release date for games in the month of February. I can only think of 2 games releasing next month and at least 7 for March

GameLord08 said:

The Golden Rule of Expectation: No Zelda. No Metroid. No 3D Mario. No disappointments.

aronatvw said:

I'm willing to bet he's mainly going to address the late game release dates, luigis mansion, and pokemon x/y.

I hope he announces wiiu and 3ds miiverse intigration update , a universal voice chat update, some multiplayer dlc for zombiu or games like Nintendo land, some new indie games coming to eshop, zelda, metroid, Mario kart, animal crossing, a new first person like shooter franchise by Nintendo, anounce a price cut in motion plus remotes and tvii news! lol that was a fun rant!

siavm said:

Turn the hype meters. It is better to have low expectations than to hope for a E3 level announcement.

-KwB- said:

I'm just guessing it won't be much of a buzz .. lower the expectations folks ! But indeed, one can dream and that one can have them dreams shattered ..

AyeHaley said:

Lets hope Wii U gets more awesome games to play before the upcoming and unavoidable financial crash.

Magnet_Man018 said:

@DarkCoolEdge Too early. I expect some more videos from Pikmin 3, Game and Wario and from more yet to be released announced launch-window games. Maybe they release an update to make the load screens go faster too!

Jese_1 said:

I'm hoping for the Wii U VC, but if they're announcing new 1st party games it's gonna be awesome no matter what it is.

Mk_II said:

im betting on one "surprise" major title that hasnt been announced yet and will be out soon (Yoshi Island?) and more specific release dates for the rest. Global transmission seems to imply no region-specific announcements like TVii.

Boo_Buster said:

@aronatvw What? Did you read anything in the article? It is a Wii U Nintendo Direct. I'll take that bet of yours and all of your money lol

Monsti said:

Yes, announcing Zelda and Smash Bros won't happen. Get off the hype train.
But not expecting them to at least announce one new Franchise game is also weitd....we don't have anything announced for Wii U past June really...there's gotta be something.

Also guessing: VC for Wii U

AbeVigoda said:

I'm guessing its info about wii-u games we already know about, a couple smaller eshop title announcements, wii-u OS updates (VC?) and maybe a couple teases for upcoming big releases, without showing any footage or naming them outright.

OorWullie said:

I'm gonna go with some release dates,1 or 2 new Eshop titles from Nintendo and at least a tease of 1 of the big guns.Maybe whatever Retro's working on.They must have something to show off by now.Nintendo must have something planned for after the launch window so tomorrow's as good a time as any

datamonkey said:

I hope they will also show a solution to the limited download time for mature content across Europe (excluding Germany of course)...

Ecto-1 said:

I highly doubt that we'll see Zelda, but I would say Smash Bros is plausible, if unlikely. The game has been in development for a little under a year (based on comments that its development would commence once KI:U was completed). That is plenty of time for them to have produced a concept trailer similar to the original reveal of Brawl. Not likely, but certainly not outside the realm of possibility.

Tasuki said:

I am hoping that they will have news about the Wii U's VC but than again I wont get my hopes up.

Gate_Shikimuri said:

What do people not get about NEW GAMES? Everyone keeps saying "Oh it's just release dates of games announced at launch" or "it has to be software updates". Makes no sense!

luminalace said:

Bring it on. Nintenfo have been too quiet. Nice to hear them tslk up the Wii U, regardless of what they are going to announce.

WingedSnagret said:

I should know better then to say this but... SMASH BROS. ANNOUNCEMENT PLEASE! Extremely doubt it though. I'm trying as hard as possible not to hype for it, but every time a notice like this go up, that's what my Smash Bros. obsessed brain automatically assumes. But on a more reasonable note, I really hope Pikmin 3's release date is revealed.

PinkSpider said:

Just want to here the words "virtual console on gamepad" and a date and I will be mighty happy

cornishlee said:

Well, I didn't expect to see this in the same month as their Poke Direct.

New services? I'd guess virtual console - system updates don't really count as services and TVii can't be done in a global announcement.

New games? There are several ways to take that and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they might reveal something all new. I'd expect though to see release dates for Wii Fit U, Game & Wario and Pikmin. If I'm dreaming, Bayonetta too!

retro_player_22 said:

Hopefully it's these:

  • Confirming the existence of Yoshi's Land and it's release date
  • Retro's new project and the game they are working on.
  • Announcement for a new Metroid, Zelda, F-Zero, Mario Kart, and Star Fox title.
  • More Pikmin 3 and when we'll be getting the demo.
  • Working with Square Enix to bring Dragon Quest X here in NA.
  • Release date for Bayonetta 2.
  • Announcement of a Fatal Frame V and Ninja Gaiden 4 would be great.

Ryno said:

Maybe they have realized they need to build up some hype for the Wii U now that the early adopters have their systems and system sales and software are becoming relatively stagnant.

StephenYap3 said:

Hopefully a 3D Mario and more details on Zelda. I mostly doubt Smash Bros will be mentioned.

rjejr said:

Hallelujah. Thank you Jesus. Lord have mercy.

I don't care what "new' games they announce, they just need to announce some new games. Some dates for already announced games wouldn't hurt either.

Really looking forward to the news, whatever it is, the Wii U needs the buzz.

KAHN said:

well, they might announce something big. think about it for a minute; poor WiiU sales...
hopefully, we'll see something about zelda and mario. probably not though.

XCWarrior said:

There is so little middle ground with most people. Here is what to expect:
1) Wii U update of some kind, maybe improved eshop look.
2) A Mario sports title of some kind to released in next few months for Wii U
3) Both a 1st party Wii U and 3DS eshop title to be released within a month
4) MAYBE GTA 5 announced as the final teaser.

I'm sure they'll also preview Fire Emblem, mention Pikmin, Wonderful 101 and Game and Wario, but not sure if they will give release dates for those 3.

XCWarrior said:

@Luigifan141 Have you seen the current Wii U eshop layout? It's terrible. If the game isn't on that front page and you don't know the name, good luck trying to find it. Really poor, ala the original Wii's online store.

Nintenjoe64 said:

I don't want to sound like a party poopy pants but it will probably just be more info on the upcoming games we know about with Resident Evil Revelations getting a mention too.

Nintendoland or NSMBU DLC would be good though!

Rapadash6 said:

Wow, a lot of people keeping thier expectations in check here. Probably a good idea anyway, but this really shows how much Nintendo has mistreated its fanbase. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one however, because it does specify that they will be revealing new games, specifically first party and for the Wii U. I think it's definately possible that we'll see at least one or two major game announcements tomorrow, and hopefully an update on Wii U Virtual Console.

Nintendo is in a tight spot right now with the Wii U, and it makes sense for them to start drumming up excitement for thier system right now. As it stands, there really isn't a whole lot to look foward to on the system, and Nintendo has only two months to meet thier 5.5 Million units sold goal, so the timing of this seems promising. We shall see though.

WaveBoy said:

I smell a new Mario Kart U Announcement...
Anyways, Iwata needs to take a vacation. Where's Nester when ya need em'?

paburrows said:

Its to bad that he isn't announcing new 3DS games, I'd like to see a new Zelda or Metroid this year.

XCWarrior said:

@paburrows It's Jan 22. Just because they don't announce 3DS Zelda or Metroid tomorrow doesn't mean it's not happening. There is quite a lot of year left.

And people, it clearly says "NEW" games. We will get at least a new announcement or two. They might not be any good - could be Dance Party 5 - but we are getting new game announcements.

AltDotNerd said:

·GameCube games on the eShop
·Smash Bros update
·New Zelda/Metroid/Star Fox
·Play Wii VC games on GamePad update
And I'm hoping for some kind of way to play 3DS/DS games on the Wii U, like the Game Boy Player.

XCWarrior said:

@AltDotNerd Wow there buddy. Maybe NIntendo can just go ahead and solve world peace and hunger tomorrow too? It's Nintendo Direct, not E3.

MarioIdent said:

Yey!!! Here's why expect:
Super Mario Galaxy U
Mario Kart U
Yoshi's Island U
Wii Fit U - More details
Panorama View - More details
Possible DLC for some games...
And then info about Miiverse for 3DS/Smartphones, as well as Wii U system update for loading times etc.

I'd love Mario Galaxy 3 (or U), Mario Kart U and a new Donkey Kong Country Returns. Plus the return of the virtual console with Donkey Kong 64 and Snowboard Kids!

Inev said:

I try to keep my expectations in check with these videos, but if we're talking conspiracy-theory level predictions:

The date for this video can be read as 01/23, and the year can be rearranged to form 0123 as well. The next number in these sequences is 4. EVEN A CHILD COULD DEDUCE THIS NINTENDO DIRECT WILL BE ABOUT MOTHER 4.

WreckItRyan said:

New games they said. It would be fun they said.

In all seriousness, I would be most elated with an announcement encompassing a Virtual Console service for the Wii U, a 3D Mario platformer, and/or any details about the Smash Bros game for Wii U.

SirSmugleaf said:

Dammit! This will be at 12:30 in the morning the next day for me, so it looks like this'll be the first time I'm not seeing a Nintendo Direct live in quite some time.

Metal_Slugger said:

If they announce Virtual Console for the Wii U, and I have to add on some ridiculous controller I will go BANANAS!

PokeMario said:

I'm hoping for information about Wii Fit U and Game and Wario. Both are scheduled for Launch Window, and I'd like to see some release details.
Also, I'd like to see Pikmin 3.

MAB said:

I have been waiting to drop my cash on the WiiU VC so hopefully that is gonna be one of the announcements at the same time as being available on the eshop this friday or next.

Capt_N said:

I don't think it will contain any regular Mario games, if Nintendo intends to keep to their statement about limiting main Mario games. Spin-offs are most likely free from this fact, however.

I'll still watch this, despite not having a WU. I might see something that garners my interest.
