PokeMario commented on Site News: A Brief Update on Our Mario Tennis:...:

I'm not too interested in this game, but I find it interesting that the online mode is apparently vital to assessing the quality of the game. IGN's review didn't even mention the online at all. I guess this once again shows that you should always proceed with caution in IGN's reviews.

PokeMario commented on Feature: Our Top 10 Wii U Retail Games - Third...:

My list:
1. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
2. Bayonetta 2
3. Super Mario 3D World
4. Pikmin 3
5. Splatoon
6. Super Mario Maker
7. Mario Kart 8
8. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
9. The Wonderful 101
10. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD/Yoshi's Woolly World
Honorable Mentions:
New Super Mario Bros. U
New Super Luigi U
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Nintendo Land
Hyrule Warriors
Lego City Undercover

Splatoon and Super Mario Maker haven't been out as long as other games so there hasn't been time for my thoughts to settle. There's a good chance both of them will move up on my list. Yoshi's Woolly World will probably stay where it is.
Overall the Wii U has plenty of great exclusive games I can't get anywhere else. It's a shame its lifespan will be shorter than other consoles but honestly there's been so many great games that I'm satisfied with my purchase.

PokeMario commented on Project Guard and Fire Emblem Fates Provide Od...:

Ah yes, just like how Project Giant Robot came out in the first half of this year. Except it didn't.
As I said before, Nintendo listed Xenoblade Chronicles X for 2014, only for them to delay it to 2015 a few weeks later. Those Project Guard and Project Giant Robot release dates we saw before E3 were placeholders, seeing as Project Giant Robot still isn't out.
We'll be lucky if Nintendo even shows footage of Project Guard this year, I'm almost positive it won't come out this year.

PokeMario commented on Talking Point: Star Fox Zero's Delay Could Be ...:

You know, the word "final" is really starting to lose its meaning.
final- pertaining to or coming at the end; last in place, order, or time
If Nintendo announces that The Legend of Zelda has been moved to the NX, I'm sure that'll also be the "final" nail in the Wii U's coffin.

PokeMario commented on Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and amiib...:

I'm pretty sure they already mentioned that Isabelle and Digby would be bundled with it at some point. What I want to know is how much it will cost since it was said that the download version would be free but amiibo would be required for it. I doubt I'll get it though.

PokeMario commented on Nintendo Confirms Super Mario Maker Console Bu...:

@manu0 They always make these kinds of announcements at this time of the year, there's still been Nintendo Directs.

Also, keep in mind these are just the games with newly announced release dates, not the entire holiday lineup. Nintendo's actually releasing a decent amount of games in the upcoming months.

PokeMario commented on Talking Point: Nintendo's Game Updates and DLC...:

I've had no problems with the pricing of Smash's DLC, I just think there are way too many Mii costumes. They need to slow down and maybe make some sort of discount for those that buy a lot of the costumes. I personally couldn't care less about the costumes as I rarely use the Mii Fighters, but I've gotten all the new characters and will probably get whatever characters come out in the future.

PokeMario commented on Exclusive: Project CARS "Simply Too Much For W...:

I have no problem with the fact that they couldn't get the game running on the Wii U. All they had to do was say, "We are having trouble with the Wii U version of Project Cars," and then either cancel it then or say "we'll keep working on it, but it may end up being cancelled," or something along those lines. Instead, they outright lied.
"The Wii U is more than capable of providing the core Project Cars experience."
"There's no conspiracy here..."
"So when we say the Wii U version is delayed in 2015 because we need a little more time, that's all it is."
"I've seen the Wii U version, I've seen it quite regularly. It's got dynamic time of day, weather - it looks phenomenal."
The fact that the Wii U version was cancelled doesn't bother me, I could simply buy the game on another platform. But after this type of behavior, I refused to buy the game on any platform.

PokeMario commented on Devil's Third is Being Published by Nintendo o...:

In other news, Devil's Third is now a real-time strategy/minigame collection.

At some points I thought this game looked bad, but at other points I was a little interested. But now it apparently isn't that good according to the previews I've read, but perhaps I'll try out the "free-to-start" version on PC and see if the game still interests me on either platform. I'll still want to read the reviews, though.

PokeMario commented on Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digi...:

@IceClimbers Agreed. Even though Microsoft didn't have anything mind-blowing, they did a good job of filling their release calendar with exclusives. Sony has most of their games coming next year with not a lot coming out this year. Nintendo actually has quite a few games for the Wii U coming this year, but next year is pretty vacant, which would have been a good place to release some big games people were hoping for (Metroid, 3D Mario, F Zero).

PokeMario commented on Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, amiibo 3...:

I'm not too interested in this, and I really loved Animal Crossing New Leaf (it's my most played 3DS game). Maybe a new feature or something will convince me. I think the price will play an important role in my decision on whether to buy it or not.

PokeMario commented on Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is...:

Called it. Then again, this series has become as predictable as Madden, Fifa, and the like.

I received the Sochi game as a gift. I was not a fan of that game, but I did enjoy the summer Olympics versions, so perhaps this will be better. Though it's a bi-yearly series, it technically is two separate series that each come out every four years, since the summer and winter games are different games. Still, if this game offers little new content over the London version, I doubt I'll be purchasing this.

PokeMario commented on Editorial: The eShop's Pricing Dilemma is the ...:

People seem to forget about casual fans and children that own any video game console. Many of them are unaware of the existence of most indie games. When a game like Mario sells more than an indie game, is it because Nintendo fans don't like indies and only buy Mario games? No, it is because of the millions of children and casual fans that don't even know what an indie game is.

PokeMario commented on Reaction: Nintendo Dropped the Ball, Not the M...:

@mjc0961 I'm not sure I'd say his comment was insulting, seeing that he is an active user of this site, he is probably sick of seeing all the negative comments that seem to appear on many articles (I'll admit even though I try to stay positive I've had my share of the negative comments and was probably too harsh in them, whether they were directed at Nintendo or another company). It does get a bit redundant seeing so many comments spewing negativity towards Nintendo. He probably could have given the same message without the sarcastic tone used in his comment, but I wouldn't necessarily call anyone who agrees with his statement a "fanboy".

PokeMario commented on Reaction: Nintendo Dropped the Ball, Not the M...:

I think it's important to remember that the Ultimate NES Remix is just for the qualifiers. The actual event will be using several games according to Nintendo. We'll have to wait and see, but I think it will be interesting.
Though there will be less people, I think a big part of it will be watching the event online. More people can watch it without going to the actual event, and I think that's what Nintendo might be aiming for.

PokeMario commented on Project Giant Robot Will Be Out Sooner Than Yo...:

Sorry, but they did the same thing last year. Monolith Soft's X was said to be coming in 2014, only to be announced as Xenoblade Chronicles X coming in 2015. They are just using the already announced placeholder date. For all we know, it may not even become its own game and be combined into Star Fox or something.

PokeMario commented on Feature: What We Want to See in the Splatoon D...:

The Nintendo eshop listed the game as $59.99. I think it is possible that we'll see a bundle that includes the game and the squid amiibo for $59.99 while the game itself will be $49.99, similar to Mario Party 10. Otherwise, the game could remain $59.99 with one of the software bundles will appearing in North America as a Nintendo World exclusive.

PokeMario commented on Talking Point: What We Expect from Nintendo Di...:

I expect:
Info on the Smash Bros. and Mario Kart DLC.
Yoshi's Woolly World info and release month (June).
Exact release date for Splatoon.
Mario Maker season or month for release (maybe coming in the summer or a specific month).
Possibly a release window for Xenoblade Chronicles X.

PokeMario commented on Talking Point: The Legend of Zelda on Wii U Ma...:

I think Nintendo's "big" title that will release in November is something that will be announced at E3. Metroid will probably be shown off for 2016. There will also probably be a Mario and Sonic title for this holiday season. I don't see Star Fox being Nintendo's "big" title.

PokeMario commented on The Legend of Zelda for Wii U No Longer Set fo...:

Being the first open world Zelda game, there is truly a lot of potential for it. I'm sure the developers are constantly thinking of new ideas for the game, and I'm sure they don't want to rush this. This could end up being one of the best if not the best Zelda game ever.
Plus I've got open world games like Xenoblade Chronicles X and The Witcher 3 to play this year, Zelda can wait.
Though this does beg the question of what will be the Wii U's "big" game this holiday season. I personally believe it will be a game we don't know about yet that will be announced at E3.

PokeMario commented on Interview: Nintendo's Damon Baker on the eShop...:

All Zelda games are about Link as he travels between being an adult and a child while gaining different abilities with different masks as he travels the ocean on the King of Red Lions and travels the Spirit Tracks and transforms into a wolf while going between Hyrule and Lorule when walking on walls and flying to the Skyloft in the sky.
I'm getting tired of the same game all the time.

In all seriousness, I think Call of Duty should be left to Treyarch. I enjoyed both Black Ops games, but Ghosts and MW3 just don't interest me. As much as I loved the original Modern Warfare, I don't think Infinity Ward is the same company they used to be.

PokeMario commented on Poll: Do Video Game Reviews Need To Have A Score?:

There's no way you can score all games on the same system. You should review it like any game, then say what type of people would like it and who should try it. For example, you might say "This is one of the best fighting games I've ever played, so its definitely worth buying if you like fighting games. It does nothing other fighting games haven't, so if you've never liked fighting games before you may not enjoy this one. If you haven't played many fighting games before or are interested in getting into the genre, this is definitely a good place to start."

PokeMario commented on Talking Point: The New Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo ...:

I usually don't care about power because Nintendo can make games look great regardless. However, for their next console they'll need to step it up in terms of power in order to make a cross compatible console/handheld. It doesn't necessarily need to be on par with the next PlayStation and Xbox consoles, but the gap in power should be much smaller than it is now.
