Re: Opinion: Why Focus On Silksong's Difficulty When We Need To Talk About How Cute It is?

theberrage

@Kraven that’s a fair point . Honestly, I am puzzled by the game. It’s obvious a lot of love was put into the game. I have a ton of respect for team cherry. I am still figuring out what makes me dislike it.

So I think Hollow Knight might be the best “metroidvania” game of all time. My expectations for silksong were not low, but I didn’t foresee them surpassing the first one. Which was OK because in my eyes the first one is a modern day classic.

In silksong I love the worlds, and all the new crests, abilities, etc.. I will eventually beat silksong as I have beaten Hollow Knight twice before (second play through ended two weeks before silksong release).
I have never heard the term “run backs” before this game came out. I really dislike them. It wouldn’t be as bad if they didn’t put your coccoon back inside the boss room. Creates this unnecessary loop of getting your stuff back and getting creamed again. When all I wanted was to get my stuff back and go back later. It discourages me from exploring more because I am sick of stepping into a boss fight , getting killed and having to go back into the boss fight. Does this make sense? I know I’m rambling some. It’s not that i find the difficulty too hard. I find the difficulty too annoying. The developers have decided they wanted to kill us more and make us suffer more because of it. It punishes the “one more try” mentality via shards. That’s fine, but just not for my taste.

@waldo13 after 150 attempts against the last judge you are awarded with absolutely nothing. Not even one rosary bead. I already went through the mist to get to the other side. It was a pointless unrewarding experience that cost me boat loads of those stupid shards. There is literally nothing rewarding about accomplishing beating this challenge.

Then they like to put your coccoon trapped right inside the boss area so you are stuck going back to get it so you can try to die closer to the entrance.

If this game gets a whiff of consideration for GoTY then the video game industry is in trouble .

It’s difficult for the sake of being difficult. I can see why it took them so long to release it. They broke it and couldn’t fix it.

Re: Team Cherry Explains Hollow Knight: Silksong's "Steep Difficulty"

theberrage

Yeah I’m not buying this explanation. The difficulty wasn’t thought out well. Don’t you love it when your cocoon gets locked in a boss room. That did not happen much in the first game. They usually placed it outside of the room.
The stupid cheap difficulty in this game paired with the stupidly placed benches break the whole exploration angle of the game.
I still love Team Cherry but silksong is definitely inferior to the first game. Never thought they’d be able to top that masterpiece. They got close with this one, but there is too much frustration with this game’s cheap and annoying “manufactured” difficulty along with a much slower progression of abilities. I’m starting to hate the game.

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Gets A Launch Date On Switch 2, Full Physical Release Confirmed

@jfp Where did I say they owe me? I supported this game initially because I like these types of games. I ignored the reviews (which have been updated from the initial poorer reviews, also my fault for ignoring) and got burned.

I am a consumer in a comment section on a video game website. I am allowed to state that I will not be spending this kind of money on a rehash of a BAD game. They don’t owe me anything and I don’t owe them anything. That’s why I said I would “consider” downloading it for free.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Multiple Switch 2 And Switch Games Launching In August 2025

theberrage

I’m really hoping the direct reveals some good surprises. I know many have praised Switch 2’s launch, but I found it just decent. Since then it has really fizzled and I am back to playing the same stuff I was playing on the switch.
I liked that they released Strikers on NSO. But Mario Paint? Yikes, that is good advertisement for a bad mouse.
As one who purchased the switch 2 on day 1, I’m not regretting it. But I was hoping for some more of those great Nintendo surprises by now.

Re: Nintendo's President Apologises For Not Being Able To Meet Switch 2 Demand

theberrage

Ok got it so if I play switch 2 only on my TV you have determined that I must believe a cloud is an airplane . 😂 I think you need to take a step out of the nineties and realize innovation has occurred since then and we have a brand new category that you are not accepting.
I suppose you deny that switch 2 is an electronic device. Because if you were to tell me you believe it is, I could only determine (by your logic)that you think a coffee maker is a video game device. And where does this end? Would you say that the Switch is a form of matter? So the switch is also a toe nail? You don’t need to explain further, I understand what you are saying. It’s just that what you are saying is a bit crazy.

Re: Nintendo's President Apologises For Not Being Able To Meet Switch 2 Demand

@rjejr I’m so lost on your logic.
A boat and a submarine are both watercraft.
An air plane and a helicopter are both aircraft.
The switch and switch 2 are not portable consoles.
The switch and switch 2 are not home consoles.
The switch and switch 2 ARE hybrid consoles.

I got the switch 2 at launch. I enjoy playing it every day. I have not once played it in portable mode. Are you saying that means it is not a handheld console?

Re: EA Worker Pay Continues To Dwindle As CEO Picks Up $5 Million Bonus, Thus Creating Amusingly Tall Financial Graph

theberrage

I think EA makes good games. But I also think they are a cancer to the gaming industry. Especially in the mobile market. When the video game industry crashes, we will be pointing at companies like this for the reason.

But this saddens me because it reminds me of a certain Nintendo CEO who cut his pay 50 percent to save his people from layoffs.

RIP Satoru Iwata, a true leader.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Switch 2 Demo Spotted In The Wild

@Chlocean one year I asked my parents for a turbografx 16 for Christmas. We were at a Kmart or something. They asked me if I liked the SNES (just came out) or TG16 better. I told them the TG16 bc it was cheaper 😂 But they saw how glued I was to the Super Mario World demo and knew better. Bless them 😄

Re: Randy Pitchford Defends Borderlands 4 Pricing Comment

He’s not wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m not a real fan… I’m not even a fan. So he’s correct as I will not buy this game, even at 60.
At some point, all the real fans are going to buy it and then what? You’re going to have to market to people like me where you would have the opportunity to create a NEW real fan. I think his comment is just fine. I wish more businesses would be open and honest in their comments, even if it’s not something we want to hear.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Another Game

theberrage

It’s really inexcusable that Nintendo has gone this long without updating controls and/or control options. I shouldn’t have to find a guide online to remap the controls in system settings for every N64 game. Why would they think that punching or kicking with the right stick is a good idea. I understand that this will be fixed with the Switch 2…. But this should have been a feature for the Switch on day 1
