Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?

theberrage

Right now for me, it’s a 5/10. But by the end of its life it could be a 10/10.

I feel the software has been pretty lackluster, especially affected by the increase in game prices and the removal of 5% back incentive on eshop.

I don’t regret making a day 1 purchase of the system. But I am still primarily playing the games previously released on Switch.

I think the Switch 2 has many great years to come and I am very confident that eventually Nintendo will blow my socks off.

@Kraven that’s a fair point . Honestly, I am puzzled by the game. It’s obvious a lot of love was put into the game. I have a ton of respect for team cherry. I am still figuring out what makes me dislike it.

So I think Hollow Knight might be the best “metroidvania” game of all time. My expectations for silksong were not low, but I didn’t foresee them surpassing the first one. Which was OK because in my eyes the first one is a modern day classic.

In silksong I love the worlds, and all the new crests, abilities, etc.. I will eventually beat silksong as I have beaten Hollow Knight twice before (second play through ended two weeks before silksong release).
I have never heard the term “run backs” before this game came out. I really dislike them. It wouldn’t be as bad if they didn’t put your coccoon back inside the boss room. Creates this unnecessary loop of getting your stuff back and getting creamed again. When all I wanted was to get my stuff back and go back later. It discourages me from exploring more because I am sick of stepping into a boss fight , getting killed and having to go back into the boss fight. Does this make sense? I know I’m rambling some. It’s not that i find the difficulty too hard. I find the difficulty too annoying. The developers have decided they wanted to kill us more and make us suffer more because of it. It punishes the “one more try” mentality via shards. That’s fine, but just not for my taste.

@waldo13 after 150 attempts against the last judge you are awarded with absolutely nothing. Not even one rosary bead. I already went through the mist to get to the other side. It was a pointless unrewarding experience that cost me boat loads of those stupid shards. There is literally nothing rewarding about accomplishing beating this challenge.

Then they like to put your coccoon trapped right inside the boss area so you are stuck going back to get it so you can try to die closer to the entrance.

If this game gets a whiff of consideration for GoTY then the video game industry is in trouble .

It’s difficult for the sake of being difficult. I can see why it took them so long to release it. They broke it and couldn’t fix it.
