Re: Nintendo Switch 2025 'Year In Review' Is Available Now

stache13

25 games over 358 hours (considering that Nintendo is my primary console, this is my second lowest year going back to 2017 (2019 was my lowest at 338 hours), and this was the year of the new hardware launch; that doesn't seem like a good sign.)

Top played games
1. Tears of the Kingdom (63 hours)
2. Pokemon Legends Z-A (56 hours)
3. Donkey Kong Bananza (39 hours)

Favorite game of the year
1. Mika and the Witch's Mountain (14 hours)
2. Avowed (82 hours) [Steam]
3. Pokémon Legends Z-A (56 hours)

Re: Censored Dispatch Artwork Spotted On Nintendo's Digital Storefront

If the game is rated mature, them the game shouldn't be shown to kids in the first place, so this censorship feels unnecessary in the first place.

It seems an easy answer for Nintendo would to be automatically hide mature content from kid's accounts (don't show Ma or T games), or add the ability to hide those games in the parental controls.

Re: Poll: Which Starter Pokémon Did You Choose In Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

stache13

I actually had to restart the game. I started the game with my favorite option Chikorita. But I remembered that in X and Y we could get one of the Kanto starters.

So I looked it up and we can get a Kanto and all the Kalos starters. So I had to go with my boy Bulbasaur and my girl Fennekin. That left me with my second choice Totodile.

Totodile being my second choice has more to do with how much I dislike Emboar, than how much I like Totodile. I replayed Silver and Gold many times as a kid, but I never chose Totodile.

Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?

stache13

My initial thought was an average of 6-9 a year. But I just checked my spreadsheet I have/had a total of 343 games over the course of my entire life that averages to over 10 games a year.

My Switch (+2) library alone is 140 games. That's an average of 17.5 games a year.

So I might have a problem. At least only 3% (11) of those games are unplayed. And 74% have been finished.

Re: Poll: So, Did You Get Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 For Switch?

stache13

I have Mario Galaxy 1 from the 3D All Stars pack, and I bought Galaxy 2 before the WiiU eShop closed. So I have no desire to rebuy the games right now.

Besides I'm not the biggest fan of Galaxy's level design. It's not bad, but I prefer the open level design of Sunshine, 64 and Odyssey.

Re: "OpenAI Is Trying To Get Sued" - Nintendo IP Floods Sora 2 Video Generation App

stache13

@ShieldHero did you forget that the AI manufacturer creates a profit off of people using their AI. So you have a separate company using Nintendo's IP ( and others) assets without permission to generate a profit. They would be suing the AI manufacturer, not the individual people posting the free videos online.

And even at the AI, manufacturer is not generating profit off of these specific videos, or the people who make those videos, then they will be generating profit from the advertisement they I receiving by those videos existing.

Re: Nintendo Life Reader Survey 2025

I might have answered "How many full price games do you typically buy a year?" wrong. I thought it was how many games do you buy not on sale. But now I think it refers to AAA $60 games.

The wording is a little confusing.

Re: Talking Point: How Are You Finding Mario Kart's Open World?

stache13

My 2.5 year old niece likes "playing" Maruo Kart World for a few seconds then she's on to the next thing. It's nice having all the auto-play features although the steering just keeps her going straight until she hits a wall. It would be nicer if it helped to keep her on the roads.

Personally, I find it boring. I don't see a point to the open world; like BotW and TotK, the rewards are seriously lacking. I don't care about stickers, so the missions and collectables have no purpose except their own existence. The only useful part of the open world is grinding for alternative costumes, even though it is very boring.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario Kart World?

stache13

As a Mario Kart game World is ok. Knockout tour is fun. And the 24 racers add a nice sense of chaos. But I don't like how straight the courses are. The drives between courses makes the races feel rather samie, and just leaves me confused as to when we started on the actual course. Not to mention how unexciting free roam is.

Hopefully we will at least have Double Dash. Being able r

Re: Review: Mario Kart World (Switch 2) - The Perfect Introduction To A New Console Generation

stache13

I hate how all of gaming is going to the open world model. I haven't bothered with free roam. It doesn't look interesting or what I want out of a Mario Kart game. Especially, since it can't be played with split-screen co-op on a single Switch 2.

The new courses are fun, but I hate driving between levels in grand prix. They are too straight and not nearly as satisfying as just playing the courses themselves. They really need to add a classic grand prix mode. And no the VS mode is not a good fix.

That said I enjoyed knock out tour more than I thought. It was a fun. All the extra racers makes the races feel chaotic.

Was is just me or did the developers slow the game down? 100cc in World felt slower than MK8. Even 150cc feels closer to 100cc. Forget that awful mirror mode. We need 200cc and maybe 250cc.

Re: Palworld Dev Announces "Disappointing" Game Changes Resulting From Nintendo's Lawsuit

stache13

@JohnnyMind I don't understand how people can't grasp this. Nintendo can't sue Palworld for copyright or trademark infringement because the game meets the legal requirements of a parody of Pokémon.

This left Nintendo with the double-edged sword of patient infringement to go after Palworld. And even then Nintendo didn't do anything until Sony got involved with Palworld. Sony is who Nintendo is worried about not Pocketpair.
