Re: Talking Point: Should It Be Easier To Customise A Nintendo Switch?

stache13

When my joy-con a were drifting, I decided to swap out the entire Switch shell. I was surprised by the large selection on Amazon by BASSTIO AND eXtremeRate. But of course, I only had one real option, nostalgia being what it is, I had to go with the atomic purple shell. Since that was the color of my Game boy Color back in the day.

Personally I didn't find the swap to be that difficult, but then again I am familiar with taking apart electronics. Swapping the plate on the back of the Switch itself is very easy. It only requires removing a few screws, and there is a metal sheet covering up the electronics underneath that plastic backing. The joycons themselves were a bit more difficult but weren't bad to replace.

@SwitchForce What are you talking about? The game that is this heavily inspired by Nights would definitely be appealing to the people that played Nights originally. And they would all be adults now.

And just because the game is not focused on violence doesn't necessarily mean it isn't a game adults would enjoy, and review poorly. Super Lucky's Tale is a game designed for a younger audience and it still reviewed well. Many Nintendo games are enjoyed and designed for both younger and older audiences.

@MarcusIsCool Sadly there was a remake of both Dragon Warrior Monsters 1 and 2 for the 3DS, but for whatever reason they decided not to localize the games. So if you can speak Japanese you're good to go, otherwise you're out of luck. Also both versions of DWM2 were remade into one game.

This was about what I expected from the game. You just need to look at the trailers for this game and for Rune Factory 5, and you can clearly tell that the developers didn't put nearly as much effort into this game. If I'm being honest, the announcement of an expansion pass for this game was a huge turnoff and warning sign for me.

It seems that Stardew Valley has maintained its crown. Which is good because there is still plenty of content from the latest free update that I haven't experienced yet.

Hopefully, Rune Factory 5 will have a much better showing.

I had an atomic purple GameBoy Color (translucent purple) and a glacier GameBoy Advance (translucent blue) back in the day. So a few months ago, when my joy-con started drifting, I decided to replace the joysticks. I figured, while I have the joycons apart, I may as well swap out the shells. Of course, my only real option was to make my Switch atomic purple, just like my old GameBoy Color.

This is a very easy decision to make; either a game made by a soulless company, a game made by a different slightly less soulless company, or a game made by a passionate man. The winner is clearly Stardew Valley.

The fact alone that these two games both have expansion passes; meanwhile Stardew Valley just released nearly a full game of new content as a free update. One is clearly a work of passion; the others are just a means to make money.

Re: Capcom Reveals Average Completion Time For Monster Hunter Rise Demo Quests

stache13

I think I lasted maybe five or six minutes, then I got bored. Stopped the hunt try to a different weapon got bored again. Then I stopped playing the game.

I find the concept of Monster Hunter games interesting but I can never get into them. I feel like I try a demo of the new game every time a new one comes out, but I can never finish the demo. Much less want to purchase the full game.

The movement feels very sluggish and the combat feels very rough. I don't know if this is the Dark Souls thing where I need to beat my head against the wall for hours to understand it or if the game is just not for me.

It's probably just me but I think they need to put a lot more effort into their art style. It looks only slightly better than a mobile game. In comparing it to the 3DS SoS games, while there is a higher resolution, there is also a lot less detail in the world. It looks better than the new Harvest Moon game at least.

Between the 1.5 update of Stardew Valley coming out, the new Rune Factory game around the corner, and Bravely Default 2, I'm planning on passing on this game.

Re: Feature: So, What Happened To Super Mario Galaxy 2?

stache13

@Grumblevolcano On the WiiU eshop NES games were $5, SNES/GBA games were $8, N64/DS games were $10, and Wii games were $20. Well I could see Nintendo selling their games individually like on the virtual console, I couldn't see them selling for that much more than what the virtual console prices were.

Re: Feature: So, What Happened To Super Mario Galaxy 2?

I can see theory 6 and 7 being true. But if it were true, I would think that Nintendo would say, "due to covid-19 Galaxy 2 is not ready yet and instead of delaying they game we decided to release Galaxy 2 as free DLC this holiday season".

Since three old games for $60, is a little steep for many people but if it was four games that would probably convince more people to buy the collection.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Majora's Mask At 20 - The Enduring Appeal Of Nintendo's Strangest Game

stache13

@Beaucine When you know what you need to do you can cram more stuff into a single cycle. On my recent replay, I beat the entire game in 4 cycles. First cycle, the mandatory intro cycle. Second cycle, beating both Southern Swamp and Snowpeak dungeons and finding all their stray fairies. Third cycle, beating the ranch, getting the sword upgrade, finding various masks and bottles, and getting to the Great Bay Temple. And finally, beating the ocean spider house, the Great Bay Temple, Stone Tower Temple, finding their stray fairies, and beating Majora.

Cramming all that stuff into a single made the game more stressful and very satisfying to pull off.

I've also gotten most heart pieces and beaten the Anju-Kafe side quest on a fifth cycle. I need to do a sixth cycle to get the all night mask and beat the two shooting galleries. Then a seventh cycle of completing the Anju-Kafe side quest a second time, getting remaining the heart prices including from the moon children, the Fierce Deity mask and beating Majora a second time; should finish off everything in the game.
