Decided to get this on Steam Deck….

Decided to get it on sale for Steam Deck. Roughly $12 with some added packs.

Switch or iterations of the Switch are selling more than the others combined….

How about a Mario Kart spin off? Open world like Forza Horizons…. But wit mini games. I like that aspect of Tour somewhat….

@Anti-Matter downgraded, yes, but if you like portability, then it’s definitely a fair compromise….

@Stocksy I totally agree with you there. Granted, sometimes I do prefer performance, but there is a lot to be said if portability and convenience. And it’s also cool to see how far developers can push the hardware.

I wonder if a lot of stuff has been delayed bc of a hardware revision….news has been quiet for quite some time.

I see how it made sense from the biz perspective to pass on a unique Mario Kart for the Switch. I wish instead of mostly recycled content, they at least made sure that it got 16 unique tracks to the system. That said, I am moderately enjoying the expansion pack. Well worth $25. Part of me is glad they have spread out the release, part of me wishes they released all at once or sped up release schedule….I will probably be glad this time next year when we get the final pack.

Pikmin 4 and Kirby will be new to me…..

Might pick up if it drops to $40

@iam12741 excellent post. Perfectly expresses how I feel. Haven’t really played much of my Steamdeck bc as you mention, it can be a buggy mess and you have to learn the nuances of the system to make it right.

On the other hand, the Switch is so under powered- not that I care so much about the graphics and obsess over frame rates , but the load times are atrocious for us being near the dawn of 2023 and performance on rather simple games can suffer.

Got the Deck for Madden and Steam sales….

Rainbow Road is sharp looking….while I like the additional content, I just really think it’s time for something new with this series. It’s fun to race these tracks for a few days, but the replayability has very limited appeal to me.

Hopefully we also get some significant hardware upgrades soon too. The news that MSFT wants to put COD on Nintendo platforms is a signal that we hear something soon and the next rendition of MK comes out in the foreseeable future.

@KindofaBigDeal MK8D is a machine. It outsells every game eventually. The game is really almost nine years old and has on,y dropped out of the top ten for two or three weeks at most. I would think everyone who wants a copy has one by now,

Part of Sony’s marketing plan was to target those who just buy a game or two a year, with that game being COD. I see how this is an issue for them but at the same time, they need to adapt to changes in the business landscape like Nintendo did.

@Baker1000 I am not a huge graphics guy, but it is definitely disappointing. They just look cheap compared to the other tracks.

@sanderev I would have considered the expansion pack a fail if they didn’t include MK7 Rainbow Road….

@Freek I love seeing Nintendo succeed in spite of Pachter’s predictions of imminent doom. I bet the Switch hits at least 130MM before the end of its life cycle. Stop making hardware indeed….

The WiiU got me back into gaming. It had so much unrealized potential and charm. Unfortunately, sometimes innovation is not valued. Granted, the headwinds were too strong for it to overcome. The perception was, why get a tablet tied to a console that only plays games? Thankfully, they were able to recoup their losses….

@Lizuka was going to say the same thing. 2.66 million copies and it was released when the Switch had a small install base.

Take the Apple Arcade approach. Sponsor some indies and release a game or two a week. Or maybe add Streetpass….

I wonder if I should get this on ps5 instead. I just want the smoothest experience….

I have a fair amount of time sunk into this. It’s kind of enjoyable, but I am tired of all the live and updates this gets whilst the console version only gets recycled tracks mostly….

@Silly_G I kinda grew up with the 2600. Didn’t have one but all my friends did. I don’t have a desire to play any of those. But there are plenty from the other systems I want to check out….

What would make it worthwhile for me would be something like Streetpass….or if they had a bunch of indie exclusives…..do like Apple Arcade. Pay some developers to create some games.

Anyway, I don’t think it’s a bad deal. I just don’t think it’s a particularly good deal. And I wish they didn’t make it such a pain in the butt to access digital games from another console.

Are they focused on the future? Seems like they are focused on recycling….

The only thing I hate about mobile is tha Mario Kart Tour is treated much better than MK8D…..that said, I think it probably has helped sell Switch systems and boosted MK8D by creating awareness for the brand and game….

I have mixed emotions about these…. If they put too much into them, it seems like it’s stuck behind a paywall. Not enough and it seems like a rip off. Then, I think they are mostly pretty cool, yet at the same time think they add clutter….

@Hero-of-WiiU it took me several months and several attempts to get into the series. Now I have almost 500 hours in ACNH

@Clyde_Radcliffe I haven’t played the GC version but I hope the next entry maybe incorporates AI to personalize and add more depth to the experience

@k8sMum I still have Triangle Strategy to go through and since then, I have acquired a Steamdeck and a Ps5. I will get this eventually….

@KayFiOS other than the fact that people seem to gravitate towards this title if they are new to the Switch, I would think that everyone who wants this game would already have it. I would probably also want Odyssey and Smash Bros. too….and I could see people wanting Zelda too, yet those have long simmered down.

I think this looks cool, but I have slowed down on buying games. It’s pointless for me to get something unless I really want it and it’s really good. I really want this but it looks like it just “good.” As others have mentioned, it’s just “good.”

I love the DLC. I don’t play it that often, but it is nice to extend the game and play on impulse.

I really like top down racers….might eventually give this a go….

Kinda interesting. This site is UK based. I figured the Nintendo following here was bigger. But as pointed out, proportionally, the Switch has only sold slightly less than here in the States….I guess it’s more surprising that the Xbox sold so well over there. I find it interesting that France apparently has a very loyal Nintendo following.

No Mario Kart! Glad to see sales slowing down… maybe we get at least a Switch revision next year. Also glad to see Baynetta doing well. Tempted to buy it, but will probably wait for a sale….

@PikaPhantom as much as I like Apple Arcade, it’s arguable that their gaming impact is negligible. If Apple can’t make a dent, how would Netflix manage? It might be cool to have a complimentary game for a series, but I would think that would be difficult to time as far as development…

I wish Nintendo polished up these games somewhat to 2022 standards. That would make the service worth it.

@OnlyItsMeReid exactly….and when I go somewhere different, I forget to open the app. I still do it every now and then but there’s just not much depth to this game

This game is utterly pointless, but it has gotten me to walk and it’s not a bad way to kill a few minutes. Idk why anyone would spend $$$$ on it

So, I went to Texas Tech. For whatever reason, we throw tortillas at the kick off of the football game. Student leadership saw what a tremendous waste this was, so they suggested donating tortillas to the food bank instead of tossing them. Eight bins were placed about the stadium and guess how many tortillas were donated? Zero. This is what the Bayonotta boycott reminds me of.

Did anyone actually boycott? Did anyone donate to her suggested charities? I am not buying it- but it has more to do with the fact that I don’t need another game to play rn.

What’s the difference between maybe and not sure?

@Johnno137426 it’s unfortunate that licensing prohibits a lot of games from being in the collection….there’s a ton of games from the Lynx I would also like to see….
