@rjejr agreed. I think they should let u buy a version of it. Not sure how it could work here, but I didn’t understand why they did this with Doctor Mario. Why not just let u play it? I just don’t care for mobile gaming, but they should allow u to keep something if u have invested in it….
@Stocksy that is how I felt about TNMT. I have it on GamePass but this just felt like it needed to be played on a Nintendo system. It felt right at home there, especially in handheld mode.
@Serpenterror I agree. It’s like Sony has almost just conceded this market to Nintendo. Yeah, there’s Sackboy, Astro and Ratchet & Clank….I wish they would at minimum expand Astro and have a cool exclusive party game….
@Shambo at times I do like to “support” the system beyond just Nintendo exclusives….if we don’t buy 3rd party titles on the Switch, they will be reluctant to take a chance on us in the future…..However, I have gone above and beyond during this generation.
@steventonysmith that too. I didn’t feel too burned, but I bought Fynix or however the hell u spell it only to see it steadily plummet to less than $20 over the next few months. The game was good tho and I felt it should be supported on the platform. Won’t feel so giving this time around. Not personal, just don’t see the point with this being in the backlog…
@Shambo yeah… I just have so many unplayed and unfinished games…. I would just be getting It to get it. By the time I finish the first one, it will be on sale.
@AcridSkull this leaves me in a dilemma….I love Kirby and want to support the series.Mathis seems like a game I would enjoy…but this is a game that I would rather see “free to play” on NSO.
I wonder if Splatoon 2 will become an instant ghost land or if it will be fairly well populated. Supposedly even last year, there were still people playing the WiiU version
@sixrings it’s kinda interesting to see the different approaches to gaming with each system. But u are correct, thee is no reason why I should have to get a 20 y/o game to run smoothly on a supposedly current generation system…
@sixrings honestly, I pretty much see the switch as a handheld that you can use as a console. I almost never play in docked mode and if I want a more robust experience, I will get that game on another system. I am far from a graphics snob too. It’s just that we are playing on a system with nearly decade old technology and it’s starting to show.
I kinda think this is the type of game where I tell myself that I will pass….but end up getting….I am not very good at it, but l do think the series is cool.
@BulkSlash yeah, Nintendo has done a great job protecting their brand. I don’t have an issue with pricing. The issue I have is the release of half baked games and then charging full price. Golf turned out ok. Tennis, tho I enjoyed it, really could have used more… not going to even consider Strikers until more content is released…
The only Nintendo games I wait for a sale for are WiiU games I already have or games I am only marginally interested in. I got Xenoblade and NSMBU for $24 a pop during Black Friday at GameStop. Pikmin 3 for $40.
I have close to 500. Got the vast majority deeply discounted, but still have to think I have dropped at least a cool $5k on games. I need an intervention
I like these tracks better as well. As mentioned in the review and above, the textures could be better….I think the new track is pretty cool too. Another thing…. I can’t decide if I would rather have them all at once or spread out. I also wish they would some of the cool stufff in Tour with different cars and variations of characters. One last thing, is it me or is the music on Kalamari Desert remastered as well?
@Ryu_Niiyama I will enjoy too, but it’s just time for a new entry in the series. They should at least add more new tracks, like 4 out of the eight rather than recycle so much content.
@Ryu_Niiyama this is indeed very lazy. It’s like throwing a starving dog table scraps. The scraps might not be bad, but for f’s sake, the game is approaching ten years. These should have been released yeas ago and we should be eying a proper unique MK for the Switch.
That said, I still think the pricing and value for the new tracks was pretty decent. I think I have about 55 hours so far on my Switch version. I bet by the time we get all the tracks, I will have about 75-80 hours.
@Vyacheslav333 it’s be o e the go to purchase for new system buyers. But I am also surprised that it has not continued to sell well. Bc if I were new to the system, I would definitely want both. Still, $25MM is nothing to sneeze at….
Probably wise to stand pat, especially through the holiday season. Even if they aren’t making as much, they can recoup through software, to an extent online service and also as a cheaper console, save the Series S…..
@UmbreonsPapa I have come to this realization. I really need to stop buying video games. I have far more than I can possibly play. I have turned into a game hoarder. Thankfully most digital.
@OrtadragoonX I am pretty sure that ultimately the WiiU ended up being profitable or at least breaking even. . If not, how much do you have to sell to become profitable? 103 million software sales. At least as far as components, I thought the WiiU was not sold at a loss like other consoles. If it was selling at a loss during the launch, certainly by mid lifecycle the cost of components came down at least some to make it break even or become profitable per unit basis. I wonder how much they put into developing the console.
Schrodinger’s video gamer…. How is it possible to be excited and not excited at the same time? Only Nintendo could swing this. One the one hand, it’s more content for my favorite franchise and game of all time. It’s reasonably priced.
Otoh, this is so lazy. Even the new tracks don’t have the same textures as the original 48. This should have been released 2-3 years ago and we should be looking forward to a proper Mario Kart for the Switch. {{{{{Sigh}}}}}
@WoomyNNYes I totally agree. Yeah, I am glad we are getting more tracks. But the Switch is the first console to not have its own proper Mario Kart. While I suppose forgivable, I am still very disappointed what Nintendo is doing with its most popular franchise. It’s going to turn into subscription…,
@HOUSE I agree. I have mixed emotions about the Switch too. I got the Ps5 about a week ago and have had Series X series x since January. I am not huge on graphics and frame rates, but it’s the load times that are making the Switch feel dated. I still love the Switch. Still my favorite console bc I love handhelds. It has the best library. But unless I really want to play the game on the fly or performance doesn’t matter,, like TMNT, I am probably going to choose another venue.
@HammerKirby fair enough, but why doesn’t Nintendo have other studios update their games? They are the one who have the final say in what gets produced, no?
Maybe not too soon, but I hate how other franchises are neglected or ignored. Conversely, every time you turn around, there’s a new Kirby game. I love Kirby, but I a have had my fill for this generation.
I think bc the Pandemic was so huge and how ACNH simply exploded subsequently, I had to pick this. The large install base also gave Nintendo a head start on the impending chip shortage…ACNH gave Nintendo some financial breathing room, even tho they were quite healthy pre pandemic….
