It's Monday again and you know what that means. That's right, it's time for this week's UK gaming charts!
Continuing last week's unsurprising success for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (no, not that one), this week sees Activision's shooter once again in the top spot. What follows is a barrage of Nintendo-friendly titles in yet another strong week for the Big N.
Primary among these is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which bounces back into the upper echelons of the charts in third place, followed by the likes of ranking classics - Nintendo Switch Sports, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Minecraft (will they ever be stopped?)
It has once again been a good week of sales for relative newbies Splatoon 3 and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. These are both titles that we had a great time with so we are happy to see their continued success.
Anywho, that's quite enough chit chat from us. Here's your look at this week's UK gaming charts:

GTA V is at #11 for the curious.
And this is why Activision gets away with pressing 72MB launchers to disc (which is made all the more inexcusable when these platforms have 100GB discs as an option). We can only hope that other publishers won't be emboldened to do similar, but it seems that video games are the one product where publishers aren't penalised for consistently churning out products of diminishing quality.
The Top 10 that doesn't look interesting for me despite I still like ACNH, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario + Rabbids. Well, they are on my low hype currently.
My hype currently is on PS4 games I have.
Where’s Bayonetta, NieR and Persona in the top 40? Anyone knows?
@Friendly
Bayonetta 3 #14
Nier and P5R are out of the Top 40.
Can't find the full top 40 list anywhere. Is Star Ocean still hanging in there? Think it was only 18th place on its 1st week
@DrJoson Nope, it's gone from the top 40.
I hope Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope sells well its such a great game that feels people are sleeping on because garbage pokemon is about to release and "its not worth $60" which it is worth full price
Real shame to see Bayonetta drop out the top 10. Really deserves the sales. I can't say I'm surprised though. Niche series on a single platform, it was never going to sell massively well
@SuperCharlie78 ouch, that’s a bit disappointing for all three. They’re all three stellar games.
Tnx for the info!
Honestly its a shame that No Man's Sky isn't among these games. Sure, it might be a port but its maybe the best port I've seen on the Switch and I do own Witcher 3 as well as XCom 2.
Its hard to describe how much value NMS offers these days. It is often very grindy which is OK as an Animal Crossing player, but it also keeps surprising me how much great content there is to be found and how cool some of the things are, that were never a base thing of the game when it came out in 2016. Like dogfights with pirate ships are serious fun, the complexity of what you can do in terms of base building, the exploration aspect, the alien races and your standing, the ways to upgrade your ship, you can have pet-animals and even build a soundsequencing machine and can stream your edited tracks into your boardcomputer to play while flying .... jesus. I'm nearly 30 hours in and still feel like I start to understand certain things in this game. I just wish it sells well enough on the switch so Hello Games wouldn't drop the support.
I'm really surprised how this grows to become my personal game of the year. And the tech side ... I mean Nintendo Life got invited early to test it prelaunch and they were completely blown away how great this runs. And it does.
It makes exactly the cuts it needs while looking like it should. Of course stuff pops in but all in all, it never goes slow, it always delivers a very consistent visual experience and most of the time manages to outshine most Switch games to a point where you're on certain spacestations doublechecking if that really isn't a PS4 game.
Only grain of salt: you can't map the controls and they happen to be optimized .... for anything but a Switch controller, but after a while thats OK. Go and get No Man's Sky. So I get my future Updates. Thank you.
[edit] OK saw its multiplatform, so no wonder a game like NMS ain't there when even B3 dropped out. Still: Get NMS on Switch. Its great.
At the point where MK8DX is still getting content, it's no surprise it's staying in the top 10. I'm predicting that we are getting the next wave of DLC this month, or at the very least a trailer showcasing all of the courses that will be in it before it launches in December.
@fox_mattcloud Yeah, really not a shock to see it drop out after a week, game’s as niche as they come. The fact it got to third for its debut is good going anyway, I’m sure it’ll at least match Nintendo’s expectations.
They really ought to have dropped 1+2 to below £20 on the eShop to drum up interest in the months before release though. Goes against Nintendo’s ethos of never discounting games by too much but Bayo 3 is one game that would’ve benefitted from a low barrier to entry for its predecessors.
There will never be a 9.
@KBuckley27 it's obviously top 10 now, but I agree a lot of people will wait and buy it later.
Sparks of hope doesn't have online features and we all know it won't be long before it's on a good sale so for people in no hurry they get a game which hasn't lost anything over time but for cheaper.
Pokemon Violet on the other hand has online play (plus a ton of internet hype to follow) and we know those games never particularly go on decent sales so there is some reason to buy it immediately if you want it.
For those (like me) who want both games but has plenty of backlog so I'm not in much hurry it makes sense to buy pokemon sooner and wait on Rabbids.
That said, the first game did extremely well for a non-Nintendo title, so I'm sure Sparks of Hope will do decently both in the short and long term. Comparing it to the largest media franchise in the world (pokemon) makes the situation look less positive than it is.
Welcome back normal sales chart. Seem like GTA V took a break this time.
@Friendly Not surprising really since most people who bought Persona 5 Royal and NieR Automata got those on other platforms already.
@KayFiOS other than the fact that people seem to gravitate towards this title if they are new to the Switch, I would think that everyone who wants this game would already have it. I would probably also want Odyssey and Smash Bros. too….and I could see people wanting Zelda too, yet those have long simmered down.
@Ploppy That’s because Nintendo never released Mario Kart 8. They released Mario Kart ∞. We’ve been reading it wrong this whole time.
@Maxz What it clearly says Mario Kart 8 on the spine.
Bayonetta 3 flop?
@Serpenterror If you felt something go whoosh on your head earlier it wasn’t the wind it was the joke flying right past you
@Rykdrew Most people interested in Bayo 3 will have bought it at launch/launch weekend, it was never going to stay in the charts for long and I doubt Nintendo expected more from it
