It’s really cool to see Nintendo pretty much dominating with the movie, sales from TotK….Sony has had a few weeks here and there, but it is still Big N carrying most of the weight In system sales and software.

I am not excited in the least; however, I would be willing to give it a try if the reviews are somewhat decent. Problem is, this has cash grab written all over it. I think it’s probably left over games that didn’t make the cut for the first one. This is no more than a filler release to bide time till the next system….lazy even by Nintendo standards….

My bet is that this is the stuff that was so lame, it didn’t even make the first edition…. They let the interns put the leftovers together.

Hard pass…. The first one should’ve been free or $10 tops….

I was surprised at how good it was….even tho the plot was a little contrived, it seemed to somehow work. It was a nice tribute to the series. Very happy for Nintendo that this worked out….

@NeonPizza I love handheld gaming, even predating the Gameboy with the first football, I think by Mattel and the mini PAC Man/Frogger/Donkey Kong game cabinets. And the Dualsense controller is pretty amazing….I just think they are going to price me out. $200 seems reasonable, considering the controller is $79….screens can’t cost more than $75 these days.

I will be in the minority here, but I think this is awesome…..I love the Dualsense controller and I loved the WiiU….I would get this for $200, but I bet they charge $300 or more….

From the perspective that Nintendo has been able to meet consumer demands, I can see this….a ps5 was much more coveted last year at this time and to a degree now. but as mentioned, the Switch has outsold the Ps4 and mostly outsells the ps5 head to head. Zelda sells more in one weekend than several of Sony’s biggest titles. A movie smashing records and often over half of the sales charts are Nintendo exclusives….

Nice…. Might give this a go. I like games with varying difficulties and/or easy to learn but hard to master….

I just saw it tonight…. Add $12. Better than I thought it would be. Great tribute to the series….

@Cashews yeah, plus I also have a Steam Deck so if I have to choose a system for a demanding game, it will go on the Deck. That said, it still is my favorite system and I have a backlog to keep me busy for years, so if waiting for a longer time means better hardware, I am ok with a late 2024 release or even 2025

@Spider-Kev I don’t mind TotK being $70. I mind Advance Wars and Mario Strikers being $60.

@Cashews agreed. Granted, there are sales that might be hard to pass up, but generally, I buy on the other systems for better performance. I am excited for Pikmin 4 tho….

@Ralizah I would think so. Between the collectors edition and people who are finally deciding to take the plunge…. If not than anyone who wants a switch already has one…,

@SuperWarioWorld maybe people are just hungry for Nintendo goodness….I can understand Zelda smashing records, but Animal Crossing? I know it had great timing with Quarantine release, but still. Throw in Mario Kart and other Mario games still selling well. The ten year plus absence from Nintendo for many after the Wii made the heart grow fond…..

I don’t see myself paying $70 for a game. Even with Zelda, I got a $10 coupon through Amazon. It will have to be something I really love, wait for a sale or some other discount….

@Euler my point is that Nintendo can’t saddle 3rd party developers with an obsolete system for several more years. At minimum, they need to look at what they require and need or they will abandon Nintendo once again.

@Euler the lack of third party support was a huge reason why the WiiU failed. System sales will dry up soon as pretty much everyone who wants a Switch has one. Even the last Pokémon struggles on it. It will be almost eight years old in late 2024 when I think the new system would release, running on hardware from 2015 or earlier. It’s time for new hardware…

@Euler I am not a huge specs freak, but it’s obvious that developers are having issues with the Switch when you look at how games are performing compared to other systems. Not talking AAA, but just simple platformers and other games that shouldn’t be too demanding on a system. Since the release schedule is bone dry for the rest of the year, Pikmin 4 notwithstanding, I bet we see a new system in the second half of 2024.

I used a $10 coupon from Amazon- get it delivered to a locker…..then had some unused CC points…. Total cost was $5….

I thought it would sell like the 3ds…… give or take a few million….

@TaterSlap69 I double dipped on Ps5 and Steamdeck to support the developers…. Granted, I got both on sale.

@PinderSchloss For being the driving force behind Nintendo, in and of himself, I can think of other characters I like better….DK, Yoshi… I race more as Bowser….that said, he’s an icon of my childhood, so I can’t turn my back on him….

Nintendo is so clueless… I think they think that all is fine and dandy. Same with Strikers…

I got stuck early in the first one and gave up. I do that a lot tho. I need a player 2 to help me….

@Dualmask these are Nintendo fans…. people get butt hurt if u say anything remotely negative about Big N. I still love the Switch, it’s just feeling a bit dated with load times and performance issues….

@hel105 I am not sure I will be a multi platform gamer in the future, but it is nice to have other options…. That said, and I hate to be that guy, but it really is time for new Nintendo hardware….a game like this should not have performance issues….

A cool game and all but it’s over six years old….I wish Nintendo did meaningful stuff with its online service…. Sony has good stuff and extra discounts for sales….

@Dpullam yeah, u have to temper expectations. Whilst the new content is worth playing and it extends the life of the game, it doesn’t quite have the same pop it had back in the day. The Tour tracks can get stale and done of the remasters are outright boring. But there’s still meat on the bone….

@Dpullam Deluxe with all the new content would be totally worth it for you. I bought it at launch and put a solid 50 hours in it. Then didn’t play it for a while and of course started playing again with the new content. It’s added about ten hours so far. I bet I end up putting in another 20-30 hours. I probably have 700 hours on it with the WiiU….

What F2P games are thriving on Switch? Probably just Fortnight?

@PBNightmare the Vita doesn’t feel like it was made in 2011 or 2012…. It has aged well and still feels like modern tech….

@MontyCircus it’s it’s still fun without the analog triggers. It would be nice, but not that big of a deal….. and for just $9.99? I say take the plunge….

Do I want this? YES! Do I need this? No……. I will probably pick this up for grins. I have the first one unplayed on the WiiU.

@Thief or a mobile version…. I think some things could translate well to mobile in the Nintendo catalog…. Or otherwise…. Not that they need to devote a ton of resources, it could just mainly be a way to create brand awareness….

It’s not a huge concern, but I don’t know why the turned off Doctor Mario…. A Mario match three would be cool too. It doesn’t bother me that the are all but abandoning the space tho. That said, I wonder if MK Tour created awareness for the brand and series, hence monster sales…

@Matroska I was able to get hits up until about 2016 and even some into 2017….mine broke in late 2016 then had to start over. I could only get a dozen or maybe two dozen on the new system

@Waluigi451 Barnes & Noble was good too. I think Best Buy also. I wish Nintendo would at least allow use to use friend codes….or somehow allow us to still get hits
