I wonder why Atelier Ryza 2 is more popular on PS4 than Switch. Was it the same with the first game?
Looking forward to the weekly anti-Japanese interpretation of these numbers.
Eeep so happy! Last week's switch charts had hardware sales actually less than the previous year's for that week. So I'm glad to see it do better this week! (For reference last year on this week switch did 188k vs 204k this week
Can we all just sit back and admire the fact that Animal Crossing has been selling like crazy for 9 months straight?
I still play Railroad Tycoon 3 on PC so I should probably look into this rail sim even if it’s all in Japanese.
Switch sales are up 8% over this same week last year.
The lack of massive Pokemon-sized holiday title hasn't hurt Switch sales at all when all said and done.
@Bizaster Just dug up the old article from when the first game launched and it was indeed the same case there. 53.428 on PS4 and 25.538 on Switch. I guess the series is just more popular on Sony's systems. If I had to guess it'd be due to it not being on previous Nintendo systems so less of the Switch fan base is familiar. At least it's not an indication of the game running poorly on Switch or anything like that considering the first game ran just fine and still didn't sell great.
The Momotaro Dentetsu series sounds like an interesting transportation sim. Has it ever been released outside of Japan? The closest I've played was Railroad Tycoon 3 on PC back in the day, and I couldn't really get into it. I had multiple simulation games at the time, but the only series I really got into were Roller Coaster Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon.
204k switch systems while no one else is above 15k lol
I know ps5 and Xbox have production limitations but 1500 Xbox is just bad....
You know I think the Switch is going to be OK.
@NGNYS True though, switch sold more then ps5 has in japan in lifetime sales in one week. Lol, good sales.
I wonder if Momotaro Dentetsu will break 1 million physical sales.
@NGNYS
You are insufferable.
@NGNYS Ray tracing : graphics :: Johnson rod : cars. In fact they should just call it Johnson tracing.
Those PS5 numbers would evoke a public apology from Nintendo. At this moment, it's post Christmas baseline looks tragic! I'm sure it will pick up some later, but there really is no stopping Switch. Momotaro has really captured their imagination.
@westman98 Erm... Momotaro is massive over there!
I see the 2DS has outsold the Series S this week. I wonder how long it'll take before it starts outselling the Series X weekly.
Ring Fit Adventure is gonna hit two million in Japan. Wowzers.
@NGNYS it’s called COVID. Supply chains and manufacturing is really really messed up right now. The uptick in Switch sales has probably been effected by folks who couldn’t get a ps5 for holiday and got a switch instead. Not everything is a conspiracy. Typically the easiest answer is the correct one.
@NGNYS Nintendo fans are more level-headed, in general, than PS fanboys. People love to "all sides" that argument, but I've found it to be true that Sony fanboys are much worse (in terms of feeling the need to troll, etc.) than even the biggest fanboys for either Xbox or Nintendo systems. You don't see Nintendo fans trolling Xbox pages or even Sony pages. MS fans sometimes troll Sony sites (and not Nintendo sites), but Sony fans often troll both.
I guess what I'm getting at is, you won't see that here because even the biggest Nintendo fans don't typically opine on sales the same way Sony fans do and are often more friendly about Nintendo having an advantage. Sony fanboys just act like jerks when PS consoles do well and almost nobody else does that to the degree they do.
@GrailUK
Sure but it's no Pokemon.
Wow those PS5 sales numbers doesn't feel like next gen at all. Even the updated Dragon Quest XI S port doesn't help Sony that much, that and the fact that there's still no PS5 titles in the top 10.
@westman98 True. But then again, not much is lol
@IronMan30
I mean NGNYS is getting on like the, in your view, typical pathetic Sony fanboy you just described.
I think the ps5 n Xbox are too expensive. It might be a wiiu situation for them. Just the hardcore buying them
Oh Ryza 2 is out? Is it out internationally too? I will have to check later. Really enjoyed the first game.
We need Dance Dance Revolution for Nintendo Switch / PS4 / PS5, Konami !
Just release DDR A20+ to console ASAP.
It has been 10 years ago Konami stop releasing DDR for console since DDR II for Wii on year 2011.
@Bizaster
Definitely console of origin. The series started way back on PS1 and if I recall correctly, all mainline games have appeared on PlayStation ever since. Some side games were on Gameboy Color, Advance and DS, but yeah. And of course only the more recent ones have been on Switch.
Conductor Peach Boy must driving the HYPE TRAIN! Momotaro for smash!
Just checking in to see if Pikmin 3 was still on the list, and alas, it has sailed. Decent li’l run it had though.
I want momotaro dentetsu but it's only in Japanese in Japanese store😖
@Tyranexx I don’t think so. In part because they use real world locations. (And trains are not as important in most countries larger than Japan plus it heavily references Japanese mythology. Hudson Soft really really liked momotaro (the legendary figure) as there are a few other series.)
Keep in mind the momotetsu series is more board game than straight sim.
But Konami only make pachinko, they say.
@Ryu_Niiyama I had no internet for a day the other week so I updated the bingo card...need to make a little tweak and I'll reupload it somewhere.
@Tantani hm I don't think 1500 sold xboxes in Japan is really bad... I mean we are talking about Japan here, most xboxes are bought by American soldiers stationed in Japan, if not all xboxes.
@NGNYS I think your forgetting the fact that GTAV online is poorly optimized on current gen systems and that’s the primary reason for the new gen re-releasec (otherwise they could have just patched it).But not having to wait 5 minutes to load after every match is really going to make that game better to play. It’s not just graphics.
@WiltonRoots cool! Lost my old cards.
@NGNYS dude you sound like a true hater that is happy cause sony is having issues like your thw type who hopes to hear negative info vs, any console other then his own nintendo console.
@Ryu_Niiyama I could roll with real world locations, though I can see how that would be an international release hurdle. Sounds like it's closer to a board game than I thought. Now I wanna track down some footage. XD
back again with another comment:
make an import review for momotaro densetsu please.
