Between higher-profile casualties like Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario Bros. 35, and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, it's easy to forget that Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. is also being removed from sale on March 31st. Despite the stature of these products - and what you'd assume is pretty much year-round demand – Nintendo isn't backing down on the upcoming mass delisting.
Thankfully, after some previous stock issues, Australian players are getting one last chance. As reported by Vooks, numerous Aussie retailers are beginning to list pre-orders for a fresh round of units at around $79 AUD.
That includes The Gamesmen and JB Hi-Fi, which currently have stock available. EB Games are due to go live tomorrow at 9am AEST, while Amazon and the Big W are also expected to receive a restock later this week.
Outside of Australia, Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros is still available for now across the UK, Europe, and United States. So, if you don't want to miss out, this month could be your last chance to obtain one.

Glad I have mine. I paid (stupidly) over the odds for it but it gets a play now and then, and the well considered packaging adds to my modest collection.
Can't wait for prices to shoot up stupidly high on eBay. I should buy two more G&Ws so I can profit off that, but it's pretty scummy.
What's up with that "gone forever" statement? It's ridiculous. A lot of products run out of production after a while. Even physical games. If you want one, buy one from a second hand online store. That is always an option. Nothing is gone forever except the Lighthouse of Alexandria, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon etc.
Did they ever restock them after the initial launch. Never saw them anywhere after the day I preordered mine.
I have one of these, but I have not checked the stock situation since so I am unsure how many of these are around in the wild. Good luck to anyone who wants one before they disappear.
They are in abundance in my area.
Just another example of Nintendo's evil, greedy nature.
@Burning_Spear,
If they were being greedy would they not keep on selling them?.
I got one when it launched. It's been great.
And tbh, I can see why this is a limited release.
@sandere
It's all been a limited release on all these Mario 35th items, and we all knew this going in, they all have also been available for seven months or so. can't see peoples issues to be honest.
Maybe they will come out with Breath of the Wild 2 for Game and Watch and not Nintendo Switch. Oh wait, I might get canceled for saying that.
In 20 years time this’ll be worth at least £55
@Burning_Spear Or an example of a limited-run item.
I’m thinking of buying a second one while it’s still in stock. I really like it! It’s a cute little console. Very well done for what it is, in my opinion.
I got one at launch at regular price. I collect these type of games but for the money they charge I think it is overpriced. I still wanted to have one regardless.
One of the glaring design flaws is the lack of a stand. It is designed to be a clock/watch but it only lays flat.
@Burning_Spear I feel like I've seen you comment that exact same comment like 20 different times haha, I guess it must just be Nintendo's evil, greedy nature or something
Neat little device to own, even if it is overpriced.
@Silly_G Looks like you may be in luck after all!
@FroZtedFlakerZz Just another example of Nintendo's evil, greedy nature.
It's way overpriced.
@FroZtedFlakerZz Apologies, the young Link in me couldn't resist in bokoblining you.
If only it was SMB3, it’d have really sold. I’d have certainly bought it if it was SMB3 themed, no hesitation
@Burning_Spear You keep on saying the same comment in a slightly different way, can you say something at least somewhat original?
@FroZtedFlakerZz @HotGoomba Just trolling the entitled crowd.
meh, I run the old Game&Watch games on emulators on my 3DS and PSP, good enough for me!
@Burning_Spear Oh, that makes sense. And like something I'd do.
@HotGoomba I get so frustrated when everything is turned into evil Nintendo. Like they're supposed to be running a charity operation rather than a business. Sure, they make a lot of money, but if they didn't they would have been dead after the GameCube and the Wii U. If you want a game or console, pay the necessary price and do it while it's still on the market.
It was a fun novelty, but admittedly redundant with all the other ways to play SMB1 and The Lost Worlds out there.
It does make me wish Nintendo would go in on a "Game & Watch Gallery" system. I don't think they'd sell as well as a dedicated Mario Game & Watch, but there's fans who would pick it up.
@RickD I dunno, the snes classic never got a proper restock.
I'd love a Switch Game & Watch Gallery collection since we now have a high-res screen to display them properly. But give us all the Marios, DKs and Snoopys - and non of this 'ball' and 'Vermin' crap.
If anyone needs one, check out finnish online stores like power.fi, verkkokauppa.fi and gigantti.fi. They are all swimming in them and have discounted them cos they cant get rid of them
Man, I felt this when they stopped making 3DS consoles and games.
Pretty scummy.
I think this ended up being far more niche than Nintendo was anticipating. Almost every department store where I’m at still has an abundance of them in their display case.
Personally, I bought one because the package and device design is beautifully done, but I’ve played it for maybe 15 minutes.
I tried to buy a brand new WiiU yesterday and apparently Nintendo don't make them any more.
Pretty scummy.
Just another example of their greedy nature. What an evil corporation they truly are.
This Game & Watch is nearly 50% off in several stores now because they sell too slow.
I might get one if they drop to 20 bucks.
I didn't buy it because same games is included in NES in Nintendo online. As a bonus, Switch screen is much bigger too.
@everynowandben : Heh. That's kind of you to think of me. Much appreciated.
Yeah, I did order one yesterday morning when news of the restock broke via Aussie site Vooks.
I'm still on the fence about trying to nab a second one as I'd rather put that money toward something that I will actually use. This would have been so, so much better if Nintendo had included SMB USA, SMB 3, and perhaps the Super Mario Land games as well.
@Silly_G Glad you could get one at least!
I have one, but I kind of regret buying one. The quality of the hardware is really low. I expected more…
@Aneira I guess they say "gone forever," because you can still buy physical copies of things like Bloodborne today without having to pay astronomical costs as a result of low production/scalpers. Probably more figurative than literal, I would imagine.
NINJA APPROVED
im waiting for the 35th anniversary zelda G&W
@8bitdaysaweek me too!
Meh, I'm not the least bit concerned. I already got mine in December AND I also already got my copy of Super Mario 3D All Stars, so I'm good, far as Mario celebratory limited edition stuff is concerned.
I'll just leave it to the desperate to pay scalper prices for it in a couple of months or so...
@koekiemonster No idea what you're on about. The build quality is simply on par with the original handhelds of the time, plus the screen is a gazillion times better. It's not supposed to be something that reflects the build quality of later, more modern handhelds. They always were pretty basic systems to begin with.
@ThanosReXXX the plastic is way cheaper and less refined. Also it’s a Game and Watch but it lacks a stand.
It all feels very cheap next to my real game and watches.
Yay.... not. That's the cost of a full damn game. 🤨 rather spend money on that instead
Got mine at retail price and glad to own it.
