Update: Watch it here!
We've been hearing about a possible Direct broadcast taking place in the month of July, and now Nintendo has officially announced it will debut its very first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase.
This showcase airs later today across Europe and tomorrow in America and will run for about 10 minutes, according to Nintendo's Japanese Twitter account. You'll be able to watch the full video right here on Nintendo Life later today. As noted below, this first installment is focused on a small group of "previously announced" Switch games from its development and publishing partners.
It looks like Rogue Company will be one of them:
Here are the start times: 3 pm UK, 4 pm Europe, 11 pm Japan, 7 am PT / 10 am ET America
Tomorrow, Monday, July 20, at 7 a.m. PT, Nintendo will debut the first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, a new series focused on titles from our development and publishing partners. This first installment will share a few updates on previously announced games for Nintendo Switch.

I don’t expect Noting big at all they said its all previously announced 3rd party games
OMG...!
Today ?! 😲😲😲
Wow, the rumour was right.
7am PT = 9 pm West Indonesia time.
Dang it, i have to halt my ACNH gameplay before 9 pm.
I’m ready for some news! Finally more game announcements! Without E3 it just seems gaming news is much slower. Why?!
Apparently it's only 10 minutes long too.
So nothing too exciting, mostly just confirmation on when certain games are coming, like Doom Eternal.
I'll probably miss it but that's fine, apparently it's just in older stuff we know about.
Mini .. i just want my Mario sunshine on Switch but that’s not going to be happening in a mini direct
I predict that tomorrow's Direct won't meet someone's impossible expectations they've set for it 🤷♂️
Tho this might be the one of those directs they air before thier own main ones centered on thier games, I didnt epect anything big on a Monday after all
Well, it's something and something is better than nothing.
Perhaps the Mario 35th remasters will get their own Showcase.
Well this is better than no news. I'm going to be tuning in.
Was excited when I heart a Direct Mini was happening, but if it's just a small showcase for previously-released, non-Nintendo products, then chances are there won't be much of interest (mayyybe Bayo 3/No More Heroes 3 at the end if we're lucky).
Still, at least we know that Directs aren't completely dead (yet), so that's something.
Finally its happening!
Edit: "Third party only and all previously announced". Uh oh, if that's truly all they show there will be online riots, I can see it now.
I hope everything goes smoothly but I have doubts.
Man I'm excited for tomorrow when I wake up in the morning and see everyone disappointed that they didn't get what they wanted.
Oh god
Lets F###ng GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
This is the worst year of Nintendo since 2008. A mini and no first party titles? Seriously?
Not getting my hopes up but it could be interesting.
@fadedcolors Better then nothing plz be a new smash fighter. (probably not)
@fadedcolors Animal Crossing alone makes it way better than 2008
It's really not happening. The reason people have wanted a Direct is so we can see what first-party Nintendo games are coming. This seemingly is third-party only.
Was it unreasonable for me to expect a proper Direct? Not really. Hopefully we get word on what's coming next soon, if this doesn't provide it. Could even be like Pokemon Presents where they air another Direct next week. And hey, there's bound to be some interesting stuff shown.
I swear if they show Bakugan again though
Wow, early in the morning. I'll definitely be catching this live.
My expectations are bottom of the barrel, but, as always, I'm still excited.
Came to bring kleenex for all the folks that’ll be crying in the comments.
So, we don't expect any announcements about first party titles. Really surprised as they literally don't have anything with a release date on the horizon.
Shin. Megami. Tensei. V.
It's been three years since it was announced with no major updates since. Come on.
@Ralizah same here dude.
Don't mess this up nintendo its your time to shine, and if its bad i'm going to yell and scream till nothing happens.
This is apparently going to be about third parties. Maybe something on Bravely Default 2? Other than that, announce more ports?
More interested in third party stuff anyway. So fine for me!
This is disappointing to be honest, the length more than anything.
So, the leaker was telling the truth, halfway. We are getting a direct, albeit mini, but it's not going to be about Mario titles or any first party for that matter. Either the leakers sources were very confused or Nintendo is doing this just to mess with us.
Retro is a partner- Metroid Prime 4 shadow drop confirmed!
@PikaPhantom As disappointing as it will be if it happens, I have to admit I will laugh if Bakugan is one of the Direct's 'highlights'.
From the wording in the tweet, I wonder if we may get a few Direct Minis in quick succession...
Ie. Monday - 3rd party previously announced
Tuesday - 3rd party new titles
Wednesday - indies showcase
Thursday - 1st party updates and DLC
Friday - 1st party new titles.
All around 10-15 minutes long. Probably not not going to happen, but it would definitely build hype through the week.
@Anri02 Brawl and MkWii made 2008 way better than our current 2020 imo
@fadedcolors Did you forget about the mid 2010s?
I don't know why but this already sounds a bit disappointing. Only 10 minutes after all this time? I mean it's better than nothing I guess.
Insert [Don’t expect anything mindblowing] comment here.
In this world where were facing a pandemic, I ain’t getting my hopes up... The only thing worth me laughing about is people expecting too much out of something clearly defined as a “Partner Showcase”.
I will tune in to see as some news is better than nothing, also it said the first in a series of these so there will be more coming. Hopefully in the ones to come we can get some news on at least a few of the games that are highly anticipated. I admit it is funny seeing comments of those who expect way too much and are let down, come on stop doing that to yourselves. Expect nothing and you may get some nice surprises, just chill and enjoy it for what it is.
Well, at least SMTV is possible now.
@HammerKirby I forgot those came out the same year
I can't wait for SMTV to not be there
Oh, btw...
What is Partner Showcase meaning ? 🤔
Could it be indie games direct or worst case scenario = mobile games agai ? 😓
Please, don’t let me down!
If I have three wishes:
Yeah! I can not wait to hear more about Bakugan, which is really one of the best upcoming, exclusive games for the Nintendo Switch.
At least it. Bravely Default 2 and Travis game probably will be in this one.
Announcing a Direct at MIDNIGHT? This is as close to a shadow drop as you can get. Also excited to see the rabid fanboys who will be immeasurably disappointed when anyone with a brain will have actually read Nintendo’s announcement and tempered their expectations.
@SPL64 sorry man. Looks like this is Nintendo partners, so almost definitely nothing 1st party. This Mini Direct is a crumb for a hungry crowd.
Not complaining though, as it is at least a crumb. Hope it leads to some actual bread later in the week 🤞
Talking about their great partnerships - 2 minutes
Bakugan gameplay focus - 4 minutes
and more Bakugan - reveal of special Nintendo themed Bakugan cards - 2 minutes
Sizzle reel - Just Dance 21, FIFA 21 Legacy Edition, Brawlhalla DLC - 2 minutes
and one more thing.....
Bakugan themed designs coming to Animal Crossing. Available now!
Keeping expectations low, but I see what’s going on.
Expectations are rock bottom, it’s previously announced titles. Now if those are SMT V and Bayo 3 then yes yes yes but I seriously doubt it. It’s gonna be bloody Bakugan.
This is going to be 4 maybe 5 games max. Definitely no Mario remasters. I'm getting the feeling that they aren't coming at all. I guess it's better than nothing but I seriously expect nothing even mildly interesting.
Just Dance 35th Anniversary Edition
@WillTheLion it just 10 minutes of Bakugan.
"It's happening"
No it's not, we or at least I wanted a proper direct. This here is just an insult to every Nintendo fan
Some will freak out.
Some will celebrate.
I will wait and see what we get before passing judgment.
I hate to be that guy, but Im already sorely, sorely disappointed.
@fadedcolors
You can't be serious...🙄
@Freddyfred yeah... Like Bayonetta 3, no more heroes 3, SMT V, those are all previously announced 3rd party titles
https://youtube.com/watch?v=q9RAZxNdCk8
We waited all this time for news on already announced games. I officially have zero faith in Nintendo competing with next-gen.
I like the idea of Nintendo Mini Directs focusing on 3rd parties.
So does this mean Nintendo themselves don't got much else to reveal for this year then?
Lol... everyone is forgetting Bayonetta 3
-Already announced - check
It can be a 2 minute trailer and release date!!! Woooooffff
I just want a new F-Zero. Everything else I know it’s coming. Please Nintendo.
We should make a movement ala Project Rainfall to release a new game in the series.
@bluesdance Feels like it! 11 years have already passed?! Uuuuugh.
One of these and I'll be happy:
😇
There is going to be multiple partner showcases apparently so lets not break out the pitchforks just yet
They said already announced. I don’t understand the hype, especially for just 10min.
Will I watch, yes, but this is kind of a bummer....unless they bust out a new announcement at 9min 30sec in. (Super Mario 64 Remastered) 🙏
Aaaaah!... Oh? Ah...
Can you think of someting more to say? Not really.
Rare Replay please?
Gonna be a lot of disappointed fans tomorrow who didn’t read that it’s all previously announced third party games. No point in doing damage control now. People are already out of control with their expectations and you can even see it in the comments here.
It’s probably just going to be more Bakugan...
Only Baldo can save this Direct for me now.
Partner? Partner? WDNNS partner!
Call me a jerk if you will, but I'm honestly more hyped for the meltdowns and backlash of those who are honestly expecting huge reveals about Metroid Prime 4, Breath of the Wild 2, Sora and Dante for Smash, the Super Mario 3D Collection and all that in a single ten minute Direct Mini.
Okay, I am also curious about what they'll actually reveal. News about Bayonetta 3 and Shin Megami Tensei V at last? More on No More Heroes III?
My guess is that it could be some of these:
Jump Force: More info on the game and release date.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered: Why it'll sucks.
Crysis Remastered: Probably more info on how it's doing.
Persona 5 Scramble: A proper international release date maybe.
EA Games: Discussing all seven titles maybe.
Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory: Why Square Enix hate Switch owners.
No More Heroes 3: Probably more info.
Bayonetta 3: Probably a new gameplay trailer perhaps.
Doom Eternal: Probably a release date announcement.
F-Zero: Why Nintendo will not revive that series anymore.
Axiom Verge 2: A new trailer and more info perhaps.
Bravely Default II: More info on the final game.
WWE 2K Playground: More game info.
World War Z: More info and a new trailer perhaps.
Surprise: Maybe a Crash Bandicoot 4 reveal for Switch.
Other than these I don't think there's anything previously announced that are on the radar anymore.
A shadow drop of Sports Story and I’m more than happy.
With this type of situation I get reminded of the line from "Pulp Fiction" when the Wolf says:
"Well let's not start sucking each other's d**k's quite yet."
I just hope they give a release date for Ys Origin. Other than that, I don't think they will give anything new. Hopefully that comes thursday, when they bring out the big guns direct. A girl can dream right?
Crash 4 and Doom are my predictions. Don't think Bayo 3 or No more hero's 3 will show. So with suitably low expectations lets roll.
It's curious they're doing this since there are some third-party games for this year announced already, but there are also a lot that I bet haven't been announced yet. I'm still waiting for a The Witcher 3-like surprise! Ironically, we're still waiting for more first-party games, so I hope they explain something there...
On the one hand, Partner Showcases could become like, monthly or weekly directs that show updates and announcements for third-party games, while first-party ones could get featured on a proper direct.
Aaaaaand what will they show anyway, Rune Factory 5 finally? No More Heroes 3? Aside from that, there were many (seriously, a lot, coincidence?) rumours that a general Direct was coming that same day, it would finally announce many Mario games and much more... I wonder what's going on...? Tomorrow (or today) will be interesting I guess? So many questions, I just hope this doesn't fall on the "bad timing" category. Judging from how many other games have already been announced (and already detailed on other presentations) and this will only be for 10 minutes, I have a scary feeling... this may disappoint
Oh wait! I also have a feeling they COULD probably announce a general Direct for the same week right after this one ends. Makes sense, right? And some other publishers like Ubisoft and TPCi have done this lately... but I dunno... if they don't, then there will be some disappointment.
I have no expectations it’s a mini probably things we already know
Very disappointing, what’s the point if everything is already announced? Think fans have a right to voice this by the way, it’s been a tough year but PlayStation and Microsoft are managing to carry on so to expect something around E3 time with new game announcements is hardly a big ask!
Here's a little surprise with some updated info about previously announced stuff.
Riots because people were hyping up for and EXPECTING a big surprise full of not yet officially announced stuff they were hyping up for.
Even if they were to suddenly say "o hey, btw, we're stealth dropping Mario Sunshine on the eshop right now, €15, and expect it in stores tomorrow", somewhere an alarm goes of and an angry sleeper agent mob with pre-sharpened pitch forks and pre-lit torches wakes up from cryo-sleep and will not rest again before they burn down the messengers their family homes because "it's another port, another Mario game",...
@DenDen It's literally "updates on announced titles" so yeah, stuff we already know. But there might be some release dates.
I hope there's info on Cyber Shadow!
Well, at least the drought is sort of over. When they release a direct mini often something else is right around the corner. If not, then hopefully people have the good sense to sell their shares (that will surely get their attention).
Not funny 😒.. not hyped anymore will just forget i heard anything and call it a day..
Next title to be released on switch in braverly default 2 sometime in August. The coming soon photo on nintendo’s website verifies it.
I'll take some 3rd party ports. Calling it a partner showcase suggests that's what it is.
But if they are saying "previously announced titles" that's a good way to hold my excitement in check.
Calling it now- several minutes of Bakugen gameplay, one minute of Paper Mario and a tournament for Smash plus another obscure JRPG reveal.
@vyseofhr yes It definitely says the first direct Mini. Here’s hoping it’s a series of them as you say
The rumors got me excited but the actual announcement made my expectations hit rock bottom. One can hope there’s something cool here, but at only 10 mins I dunno.
Disco Elysium pls
I'll be happy with a Doom Eternal release date.
I think Doom Eternal might get its release date announced and some footage shown. Someone from Bethesda was saying the other week they would be sharing news on the Switch release date very soon.
Nothing to see here. Move along...
Okay, c'mon seriously? Why is it so hard for Nintendo to announce something new? Even if based on the wording of the tweet this turns out to be the first of a few, why split the news at all across several presentations? Why drag it out? The only real thing I've learned to expect from Nintendo this year is expect nothing.
@IceClimbers doom eternal release date is one thing i want confirmed right now been waiting for it to come for switch for a while but seriously nintendo needs to do a big direct soon,
Huh, the rumor was kind of right after all... time to expect Bayonetta 3, BOTW2, and Metroid Prime 4 news and end up getting none of that!
Hopefully there is some news on BOTW 2
Oh would you look at that, the Internet hype train went chugging along, everyone jumped on board face first and it's led to disappointment! What an unforeseeable turn of events...if only we'd had years of this same routine to look back on and be realistic in our expectations beforehand...
But seriously, we need to stop putting so much stock into what a few random twitter accounts say. A broken clock is right twice a day and all that jazz.
"Our development" seems to imply some first-party focus, doesn't it?
To be honest, all i want from this is a release date for DOOM Eternal. I've had it pre-ordered since March. Not expecting much,so any other decent announcements are a bonus
@MS7000 Well you know how the saying goes, "expect nothing, then you won't be disappointed"
Meh, it's just gonna be another 10 minute advert for some game none of us want.
**'development and publishing partners' and 'third-party' are not synonyms.**
Metriod Prime 4 could be mentioned.
Whilst everyone is saying it's just third-party (which is not a phrase they are using here) - think about Retro Studios and Platinum. they could definitely we described as 'development and publishing partners'.
10 mins is more than enough to blow our minds with some MP4 and Bayonetta footage.
These are sone of Nintendo's 'Partners':
Alphadream
Retro Studios
NDCube
Camelot
Good-Feel
Grezzo
HAL Laboratory
Intelligent Systems
Next-Level Games
Sure - It's doesn't sound super exciting because of the 'previously announced' bit, but we'll see.
This exists mostly for Bravely Default 2. Then we get an update on Doom Eternal. Maybe an update on NMH and something indie like Silksong. No Shin Megami Tensei or Bayo 3. They reallllly should have saved themselves some backash and just called this a "Nintendo Partners Showcase." Not used the word Direct at all.
Thanks , now i have a stupid smile on my face
@brunojenso Alphadream died last year.
@SPL64 you didn’t read the article, did you? “Partners” only, and only previously announced games. Which unfortunately rules out every one of your dreams
@RustedHero lol yes
@status-204 They did say "focused", there could still be something quick at the end? I am aware that that is very unlikely.
Ten minutes of rapid-fire announcements - just the title overlayed on gameplay footage, and release date.
...Won't happen, but a man can dream.
@status-204 They also refer to "partners", and BOTW was made in collaboration with Monolith Soft. I definitely won't get my hopes up though, and am also looking forward to and will enjoy seeing what else is presented.
There is a chance we could see Plants vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville which was rumored to be coming to Switch by EA.
The Mario one will likely be closer to September, as that's the anniversary month
Yes another waste of time, I can't believe Nintendo haven't got anything new to show. Surely a proper glimpse of Metroid 4 would be possible Surely. Prepare for disappointment again folks, but Nintendo prove me wrong.
Still not the Direct we're looking for.
@Ewaldus absolutely! Hope Baldo gets a release date.
@quinnyboy58 Wow. entitlement is real.
'Fans have the right'. Fans never have a right. Except stop being fans.
I'm 100% sure Nintendo had a massive reveal planned at the Olympics. There's a reason years ago when the olympics were revealed the president of Japan was wearing Mario's hat. And the Olympics were cancelled a month before they would happen. Now Nintendo had to last minute 180 their plans. Give Nintendo some slack mate. Or stop being a fan.
@PlayedNSlayed I was expecting it too. But after completed the campaign several times on Xbox One x I cancelled my preorder. For now I’m done with the game, might come back later but not in the mood of going through it again.
Expectations are so low right now...
Best thing I can hope for is that this means that if ever get another “proper” Direct, there will be no need to include so many “partner” titles and focus on the core first party stuff.
10 minutes of niche games Nintendo fans don't care for
Snoooooore!! No Zelda, no Metroid, no nothing from Nintendo.
Nintendo looks more and more like the graveyard of dead franchises:
F-zero: dead
Kid Icarus: dead
Starfox: dead
Donkey kong: dead
Warioland: dead
Pikmin: dead
Mario and Luigi: possibly dead
Eartbound series: dead
Topdown Zelda's: dead (link's awakening is a remake, so doesn't count)
Kirby: Possibly dead
Nintendo sidescrollers as a whole: Possibly dead
Soooo many good franchises...and doing NOTHING with it. In the meantime Nintendolife keeps cheering the Switch...
@GX_64 Why would there be any? It's based on PARTNERS, no first party titles in this Direct mini.
Drip drip drip drip drip drip water gets turned off for a month or two drip drip drip drip.........
I think this whole Partner’s Direct is a very good thing. Give people a better glimpse at third party games without Nintendo always taking the spotlight with their one more thing.
@Friendly of course people have a right to voice their opinion, fed up of being told we can't be disappointed by corporate spokespeople like yourself.
oh cool so the rumor was true, hope theres some more news on BOTW 2, or silksong would be cool too
@Anti-Matter why so excited? it is about already announced titles...
did I put GOOD beer in the freezer to watch a 10 mins mini direct??
@Hixxy Will share updates on previously announced 3rd party titles
Small direct is better than no direct, and i just know they prepare for a bigger direct after the xbox showcase this thursday. To try to get the attention back to switch.
@BlackenedHalo
Am i not allowed to get excited by this Direct ?
Whether the already announced titles or not...
But i will cross my finger for something interesting for me.
Come on news about Axiom Verge 2
I'd settle for JPEG of unannounced nintendo game at this point. I really don't understand how nintendo have managed to space out their games so badly in the last couple of years. I think they must have cut down on the number games in development considerably since Iwata passed.
@sanderev yeah I realise I am wrong. Still super excited for it though!
Obv its 10mins of bakugan.
Jokes aside, nmh3, bravely2, doom external and smt5 are my expectations.
Smt5 being more of a hope.
Maybe if smt5 isnt rdy, might see smt4 +Apocalypse double pack port
i was happy reading Nintendo direct then saw the word mini was ok its still a Nintendo direct just not as much then I saw partner showcase and then meh I watch later after I wake up not worth the early wake up.
I think the Corona thing came just in time for them to bridge a giant gap they couldn't fill this year. Really curious what's around the corner now we've had our paper mario!
10 minutes is really short. My expectations are really low but, at this point, any news is welcome...
Hopefully, they announce that Bravely Default II battle system has been changed to what it was in the the previous two games.
Why the heck would I want to know about previously announced games?
What are they smoking in the Nintendo HQ?
Gamers play games. Consumers live for hype.
Devolver Digital was so on point with their message.
Not many folk appreciating this is the start of a series! I think a summary of what we know is the perfect place to start.
10 minutes of Bakugan
I'm guessing it will focus on Bakugan, Doom Eternal, and maybe a few indie games.
There'll be very little exciting. Best case scenario is Silksong release date and announcing a nice, normal direct afterwards. I know Nintendo isn't one to follow patterns, but don't direct minis come before main ones?
@GameOtaku It's slower because at E3, most of the "announcements" are at least a year out. Without having to drop a "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT" that isn't ready yet, companies aren't.
Probably won't bother watching then
@fadedcolors i think the nintengeeks will be frothing at the mouth! Mmm lots of reveals! Tasty meatball. Metroid 2d please!
I have a feeling this mini will air and then well get a big Direct announced for this coming Wednesday.
If I remember right, Xbox showcase is this Thursday too? So, dont want to have it on the same day.
@quinnyboy58 ok, now I see. As with everything else you’re allowed to have and voice your opinion. True.
Just don’t demand stuff. Cause as a fan you’re not in the position to demand stuff.
Monster hunter 5......
Phantasy star 2 online.....
Sorry Mario, your princess is in another direct.
A blank release calendar and THIS is what we get!?
Surely they must have a “normal” direct coming up soon too?
what the hell is nintendos problem?
Why cant they SHOW US NEW GAMES
They have ZERO upcoming games with release dates
Jump Rope parts 2-10
maybe Doom eternal?
This was leaked like the last one, just goes to show they only have very small bits of information, and as usual all the YouTubers overreact and think F-Zero is going to be announced.
Nintendo will have first party stuff coming this year, guess it's just a waiting game, no real issue as the console is still flying off the shelves and still has stock issues, it's only the core people that already have a console that are desperate for information, and always seem to suggest it will impact sales when in reality any potential Switch customer has tonnes of software to choose from.
Well, this shouldn't be a bad thing. I know we all want something Nintendo related, but there's still a lot of external games we haven't seen yet, or we don't have a release date.
-Bayonetta 3, for example. This could be the perfect show for it. It would be the main focus, and maybe they also give a release date.
-Shin Megami Tensei V is another one. A trailer with gameplay would be nice.
-Ushiro from Level 5 was announced long ago, and we haven't seen it.
-No More Heroes 3, Bravely Default 2, Hollow Knight Silksong and Doom Eternal are supposedly coming this year. It'd be a good time to show a good trailer with a release date.
-And I bet we'll get a surprise, like that exclusive Monster Hunter it was recently hinted. Or maybe GTAV? Mass Effect Trilogy? Kingdom Hearts? At least one big surprise, please!
By the way, could they announce a Nintendo game made by a third party in this event? Because there are also chances we'll see a new Metroid 2D made by Mercury Steam, or something like that. Right?
Armchair analysts: Nintendo needs third party support to compete yadda yadda yadda.
Also armchair analysts: Not focusing on first party games is a huge mistake.
Honestly lol, the way some people think they know better than one of the most successful video game companies is nauseating lol. Most fans just sit back and enjoy the ride.
I would love to see some options from Rockstar
@fadedcolors It's extremely likely there'll be another direct with first party games in a few weeks. In fact, no more first party announcements for the rest of the year is an impossibility.
@the_beaver There are heavy rumours of this but not Metroid. Some sources have suggested something quite nichey and unexpected could be doing this.
Nintendo realizes the less news they give the more thirsty we get.
@Steel76 it’s July, there’s no reason they can’t announce first part games later. It’s fairly nailed on we will get 1 or 2 more Mario games to celebrate the 35th anniversary. But the “main” first party game this year is Animal Crossing.
WTF? Why is Nintendo so insistent on giving us everything but what we want to see? The whole point of wanting a Nintendo Direct is so we know what Nintendo is doing, not what third parties already told us, and at this point we know absolutely nothing of what's coming next on the first party front aside from BoTW2 and Prime 4 having undefined release windows. Do they even have anything for the holiday season this year? Because at this point I seriously wonder about that. This feels like a Wii U-esque drought year right now, and I thought we were past that. Way to drop the ball Nintendo.
@TheAwesomeBowser I agree. Nintendo is going to die during next gen.
@Anti-Matter it wasnt right as they said it would please mario fans
Man, Nintendo was struggling during Wii U then they came out with the Switch and due to its immense success and that of Animal Crossing decided to chill on news of new games. I can’t help but feel that had Switch and Animal Crossing sold poorly we would have gotten some news by now to drive system sales.
so nothing new for the switch uh? just previous announcements. wow, it sure is boring for the switch right now
I'd love to see SMTV, but who knows...
The Long Dark is ready ?
Dont get Hope's up it's a partner show case lol.so no Mario
@Moistnado lol try 2021/2022
@Anti-Matter ANCH? Is that Armored Core: New Hampshire? I didn’t know they came out with another AC game.
Partner direct of previously announced games? So 10 mins of Doom eternal, Bayonetta 3 and Bravely Default. Also an announcement of need for speed. Sounds exciting 😔
Hmm, this if for first-party games too? Or is it 10 minutes of third-party ports and indie/phone games? I want my Mario remasters.
@SortingHat,
Either way they are wrong in their views this in any way affects potential Switch sales, certainly from the wider mass market.
@SPL64 you will be let down this ain't a real direct
No first party title will be shown off
@Euler there was literally a Nintendo game released last Friday lol
Hollow Knight Silksong release date would make this Direct a success.
If I can hope for one surprise announcement... I'd pick Dark Souls 2 for Switch.
@aznable
Duh. 🙄
I played Animal Crossing New Horizons or i called it ACNH for the shortest name.
@retro_player_77 I agree with your list, the only thing to mention is that you should expect no more than 5 of those...
@sketchturner it will only be about already announced games. So expect a list of trailers, release dates. For games like Doom Eternal, Bravely default 2, etc.
@vyseofhr my thoughts exactly. Hopefully they end todays mini with an announcement of the next mini coming very soon.
I’m interested to see if anything gets released TODAY, as they many times do after these directs.... something good I hope!
I have no evidence for this just a theory – but I wonder if Nintendo was intending on having a full Direct but dropped the first party element because some of the games aren’t ready to show off or if there was some issue with the release dates.
The leakers indicated that “10 minutes” would focus on third party games – so I wonder if they just dropped the first party part and called it a ‘Mini Direct’.
There is no way Nintendo doesn’t have other games in the pipeline – after all we basically know Pikmin 3 Deluxe was supposed to be released around now (confirmed by multiple leakers) and that Metroid Prime Trilogy has been finished for a long time, but Nintendo just hasn’t yet decided to publish it.
I bet the main reason is that aren’t confident they can keep to their intended release dates and don’t want to announce anything until they are 100% sure after the Metroid Prime 4 debacle of announcing and then having to delay it.
@TimboSlice I hope for Rogue Company
Will be watching, hoping for a release date for Doom Eternal and a bit of Switch gameplay, so we can see how that version is shaping up.
Wow. That's disappointing. Probably only 3rd party games. I guess there won't be any new 1st party games for the rest of the year at this point...
@Entrr_username There were releases and games.
It's a small direct regarding updates on previously announced 3rd party games. So nothing new at all then, I expect.
Just so you fan butts MAYBE not go ballistic once again later today, let's try and set a healthy expectations plank for you:
"Welcome to the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase! We're happy to announce that the development of Shin Megami Tensei V and Bayonetta 3 is going on smoothly. Thanks for watching, and see you in the next Direct!"
Wow, 10 minutes is really mini. Still, maybe we'll get some Silksong news?! That would be really cool.
@GameOtaku it's only slower from Nintendo, all the other companies have been firing out their showcases. Nintendo apparently cannot edit a video due to covid.
I can already hear those toxic chat fans waiting for a Smash reveal...
It's only a Partner Showcase people, quit it with the Smash and Animal Crossing crap, it's utterly annoying
Let's hope it has a surprise at the end.
Sigh... During my work day, unfortunately. I'll have to catch up after the fact.
Notice how it says "the first installment". This isn't going to be the only one they show, so even if you are disappointed with this one, there may be other minis you will really enjoy in the near future
I saw this on my news feed and got excited to see some new 3rd party games. Then I came here and read that it's "already announced" 3rd party games. So I take that as updates for release dates on a handful of games. I'm disappointed. I really want a Fallout game on the Switch!
@Anri02
Not really. Animal Crossing: City Folk came out in 2008. 😂
@SeantheDon29 any games that matter... this is why Nintendo has poor 3rd party support.
@Jester151 Nintendo has poor 3rd party support? Okay.
Glad they're calling it what it is( partner's showcase) but disappointing its not a full direct
@Anti-Matter Man, you got me excited.
i perdict there is a new dkc game announcement but some people might think im living a dream...
This wasn't hard to figure out if you pay attention to news sources that don't generally talk about Direct rumors until they actually appear to be real. Just do the research.
I'm interested that this is a the first in a "series". Seems like these 10 min videos may pop up every couple weeks in lieu of a full direct for the time being.
oh whatever i just read it again but thats fine third party developers have more time to shine
hey guys, is there supposed to be a page with the live stream or will they just uplaod the video?? I can't seem to find any official source (it's all youtuber channels) for the direct.
WHERE IS THE LINK?
Well then.... copy and paste "I have so many games on backlog it doesn't matter" comments from past disappointments.
I just finished watching and it contained very little that interested me. Hopefully others are happy and/or excited. The drought of games I am interested in continues. SMT V looked good but I'd have to see some gameplay before I commit.
I'm glad I had no expectations for this once I heard "mini direct for partners"
Bakugan gameplay focus - 4 minutes
and more Bakugan - reveal of special Nintendo themed Bakugan cards - 2 minutes
@OorWullie LoL Someone has been traumatized...
We should make a movement ala Project Rainfall to release a new game in the series.
@fafonio I've been thinking about this very issue and how to prompt people. I'll wager the vocal F-Zero contingent online is easily as large as the Xenoblade crowd was, consider F-Zero's long history in the West and "hardcore" reputation.
Nothing to see here. Move along...
Okay, c'mon seriously? ... Why drag it out? The only real thing I've learned to expect from Nintendo this year is expect nothing.
@MS7000 Lucifer would like a word with you.
@COVIDberry
Lucifer has already had his appointment!
To be fair, I am still expecting nothing from Nintendo. Atlus made it good!0
@Quarth you got it!
That supposed showcase was a joke within itself. An announcement like that could've just been a shadowdrop instead.
