We're slowly getting closer to Super Mario Bros. 35's delisting. As Nintendo recently reconfirmed, it doesn't plan on backing down from the 31st March removal date, so we'll be saying goodbye to this Battle Royale soon.
With exactly four weeks to go, that isn't stopping the weekly events just yet, and Super Mario Bros. 35's latest has been confirmed. Starting on March 5th, we've got another Super Star battle, meaning players will start each run with that power-up.
Like most events, this covers a selection of stages. We'll be running through 1-1, 2-1, 2-3, 2-4, 3-1, 3-2, 3-4, 5-2, 6-2, 7-3, 8-1, and 8-3, due to end on March 8th.
Plan on diving into this week's event? Let us know down below.

I just don't care about playing this game.
This game was ok, but doesn't have the same longevity as Tetris 99. If it stayed around longer, I'd have a go every now and again as I do now but I'm really not bothered that it's going.
The fact that it was a limited time offering put me off from trying it in the first place as I don't really want to get invested into a multiplayer game that I can't pick back up again later. I did watch a bit of gameplay of it though and it honestly doesn't look too fun to me anyway.
March 31st shall now be know as "The Mario Purge Day" and shall forever be written in the history books as Mario's most darkest day in life...
In years to come we will look back and think we were there.
How can I get 8-4?
I want to play as Luigi before this gets pulled!
This decision so scummy that it has broken people’s minds because I’m sure there’re some still swearing that the reason behind this is because Nintendo will announce the Switch Pro on March 31 because REASONS.
Congrats on sites like this for softballing this practice with jokes like “Thanos snap” I’m sure Nintendo appreciates it as they think about how far they can push their next attempt at limited time games.
Pretty sure no one will miss this game
@UltimateOtaku91
I will, very much so.
@TheFullAndy
Too bad to read it’s any good as i can’t afford a Switch...
I’ve seen videos, but That misses it. what’s your favorite part?
@Dr_G_Lemaitre
The whole thing! It is just a great little game that can get insane with the amount of enemies onscreen by the end of a run.
And unlike Tetris 99 I can actually win this one!
It ends by March 8th... maybe they have something to announce by March 10th, Mario's Day?
I still believe that they're gonna pull an April's fool and say the game will continue under a different name it something along those lines.
Just let it go, keep the good memories. We don't need a not aging well article in a year or two.
I’ve put about 30 hours into this game and have really enjoyed it. I would have liked to see it get some other additions like other Mario games and power ups. I’m hoping this gets added into Mario Maker 2. 🤞🏻
@TheFullAndy pray you get lucky, like every other level.
40 levels to go and that's all the icons unlocks.
I'ma gonna complete this thing!
@Angelic_Lapras_King
That is the one flaw with the game, too many people picking 1-1 over and over again.
There should be a permanent separate mode where it is completely random levels including 8-4.
Won't matter much longer I suppose!
Wish they could have used these resources to update Mario Maker 2 instead.
@Corum
You realise Arika developed this game not Nintendo and they had nothing to do with Mario Maker 2?
@TheFullAndy I think you just need to survive very long as that's when abouts I start seeing the World 8 levels, towards the end of a game. And just keep an eye open for wrap pipes that let you pick a level or just keep doing 1-2 for better level selections.
@TheFullAndy nope, didn’t realize that, thank you for the information.
@Angelic_Lapras_King
Well not to brag but I win my fair share of games and am always down to the last 5 the vast majority of the time, always use the pipes, and still not seen it the once. Even in the special battles it hasn't popped up.
Will just keep on trying and hope I get lucky!
The game was fun and I really liked the concept but overall I just couldn't get into it like many others have. There was something about it that didn't keep me hooked like Tetris 99 did for me. It may be apples to oranges but the strategic play of Tetris 99 of either attacking KO's, Attackers, and Badges throughout the battle just feels so much more fun and intense than Mario 35. I love the constant focus of collecting badges, switching to KO's, and then bombarding those poor suckers I always imagine their panic as they're trying so hard to stay alive and then get dumped on by me to finish them off. I also love switching to Attackers when I have a lot of badges and start sending a truck load of hell back to them. In Mario 35 I grew tired of sending mostly goombas and the occasional Bowsers, plants or whatever while playing the same 2-3 levels over and over again.
I just don't understand Nintendo's thinking here.
They totally missed the perfect opportunity to plan the event on March 10th.
I will definitely miss this game when it is gone, but at least I had some good fun with it. I enjoyed it far more than Tetris 99 since I typically don't like puzzle games much. This game was more my style.
Wait,, so we won't be able to play it anymore and it will be removed from our system from March 31st? (That's the impression I get from the comments and people saying they'll miss it)
I thought they were just removing it from the eShop but it would still be payable for existing owners?
Mario 35: Free for a limited set of months.
"This is extortion and slimy behavior!"
Splatfests: Free for a weekend at a time. But only if you own the game, and only for the first 12 months.
"I'll be there with bells on!"
Memento Mori.
This game is awesome... at first it does not seem as good as it really is.
I love playing small bursts of Mario....
I just hope Nintendo has at least plans for its replacement.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Yes.... it will be wiped and impossible to playing it. Weirdest of weird choices.
I can only hope they are replacing it with something similar... Mario 36?
@Ganner The game gets much better the more you play it..
Love bombarding lakitus and bowsers to my enemies!
@BenAV This is the same reason I don't invest my time or energy in any GAAS. I have a finite amount of time, and having my own family and life means that my hobby is scheduled around those things and not the other way round.
I can pick back up Skyrim or Borderlands at a much later date, exactly where I left off. If I tried to pick up anything else, I essentially have to start fresh and it just not fun.
This game is a cool concept. But they definitely needed to mix things up a bit more. Constantly making players replay levels 1-1 and 1-2 over & over became uninspiring after a short while.
@RobotReptile
Cheers for the tips but I can't select it at the start as I haven't unlocked it yet, or can I?
Such a fun idea and way to play Mario, I don't get why it's going away entirely, especially if people are still playing and enjoying it
@TheFullAndy Levels become available for you to choose only after you've cleared every level before it at least once during gameplay. That means dropping the flag at the end before dying or letting time run out. When you do this the level's thumbnail in the selection screen will have a flag icon in the corner. For unlocking 8-4 that means every level from 1-1 to 8-3 has to have a flag, even if you have later levels unlocked already.
Find and choose a level without a flag next time you play and use warp zones to skip through the queue quickly. 1-2 comes up frequently, so hit to the warp there and either take the left-most pipe to skip ahead the furthest, 1-2 or 4-2 when applicable to easily access another warp zone, or if you're lucky you might even find the level you selected. Then when 8-4 is finally unlocked, choose it and repeat the process until you clear it and Luigi is yours!
(& just hope you're not in a round where people are spamming Lakitus or Hammer Bros. constantly.)
@KevynOnVideo
Brilliant, thanks for clearing this up.
Had a look and only 7-4 I haven't flagged so will focus on that!
@TheFullAndy oh, riiight. 🤔. Been a bit since I cleared em. Glad someone stepped in to clarify. Cheers @KevynOnVideo
@TheFullAndy No problem, glad I could help! Good luck!
I’m gonna definitely miss this game. Very addicting!
This game took longer to develop than the time it was available to play.
