Nintendo has released its very first update for Pikmin 3 Deluxe on the Switch. This small update bumps the game up to version 1.1.0. Based on the patch notes, it's a number of bug fixes (how appropriate). Here are the full details courtesy of Nintendo's official support page:
Ver. 1.1.0 (Released November 24, 2020)
- Fixes the bug where collected fruits were not being recorded under certain conditions.
If the problem was already happening, the collected fruit record will unfortunately not be adjusted. Once the update is downloaded, the bug will be fixed by going back to the date with no fruits recorded and collecting a fruit.
- Fixes the bug where acquired Badges got reverted to the unacquired status under certain conditions.
If the problem was already happening, the badges can be acquired by meeting the acquisition condition again.

A tad surprising that they would need to patch this on a DX port. But I prefer it to leaving bugs in the game. Every game gets patched these days. It's just the norm.
The only hiccup I encountered, and maybe it was a strange design choice, is that some creatures get logged into the Piklopedia by encountering them, while others need to be taken back to the onion. Kind of odd.
On that note, wish the Piklopedia was a bit more robust like Pikmin 2’s. Namely, the image of the creature is too small to appreciate and inspect.
I've noticed nectar seems more abundant this time around, or did I miss that in original pikmin 3? Seems especially prevalant on day 2
it seems as though we need a fix for a fix: "If the problem was already happening, the collected fruit record will unfortunately not be adjusted. Once the update is downloaded, the bug will be fixed by going back to the date with no fruits recorded and collecting a fruit."...lol i don't want to relive a day just for a piece of fruit....
now we need update version 2 for Pikmin 3 deluxe; the update that turns the game into the full Pikmin trilogy.
@Digitaldigdug While it's been years since I played Pikmin 3 on Wii U, I remember nectar was hard to come by in the early game and only 10 Pikmin could drink from one blob, I often left Pikmin sprouts in the ground so they'd bloom naturally.
@Heavyarms55 Pikmin 3 Deluxe isn’t just a straight port. The core game is but there’s a lot of content that wasn’t part of the original release. I agree though that bugs in the original game should be left alone. I don’t mind if they fix issues with the new content...especially when it comes to achievements not being saved.
I'm glad the badges bug is fixed.
For those unaware, if you earned some badges in Story Mode, sometimes going back to previous days would revoke those badges - even though badges were suppoosed to exist on a systemwide level, not a savefile level.
So for example "Clear the game on Normal difficulty!" and "Complete the Piklopedia!" could be revoked just by going to a previous day - even if you didn't save or do anything afterwards, just the act of loading a previous day would revoke the badges. It was weird.
Wish the game was 1080p as it is it looks sorta blurry on my 4k tv. Got a 1080p gaming monitor from amazon hopefully switch games should look more crisp on it once it arrives
I played Pikmin in the past. There were a lot of huge bugs, and they ate my Pikmin friends while we were out minding our own business, collecting fruits and five person nap sacks and other cool stuff. Not cool, bugs, definitely not cool.
@stevenw45 the badges issue screwed u too. "Just re-earn it"🤦.
@Cyberjew heavyarms says he prefers them fix the bugs rather than leave them in game, fwiw. I would agree, i think. Why would u want the older bugs to remain?
I loved it but god i cant find love for the last level. I played the game, got as much stuff as i could but i rage quit the last level and havent gone back.
