1) The interactivity update. All the friends I've had try the game wanted to ride that scooter, play the arcade cabinet or cook the fish they caught. You wouldn't believe the amount of time I spent just making different rhythms with several metronomes. Adding more interactive objects would expand the fun exponentially.
2) The villager interactions update. Having never played an AC game before, I really thought there would be real dialogues and story making instead of shallow "What's new? – Oh, the weather is nice" interactions. That was the biggest letdown, honestly. You do get some interesting stuff but it is so so rare that it honestly doesn't make much difference.
Loving these regular updates. Been playing for 30-60 minutes day, so it's still pretty fresh, and those updates just keep adding more content. Very cool.
(Fingers crossed for the "interactivity" update some time in the future. Every friend whom I show the game wants to ride that scooter, look into the sightseeing binocular thing, or use a wheelbarrow.)
@dew12333 Dude, you have to realise the difference between every-day running an arm of a multinational corporation (Nintendo) and being on a few podcasts and a board member at GameStop.
The last two are far-far-far from full-time commitments, so I'm pretty sure he has enough time to spend with his kids. Ergo, he is not a lying fat cat.
That is amazing. I've increasingly felt that we are in the state of "everything is preserved" society, and it's either found or lost forever, which is the case with many digital suff. It's not like it can be buried for 500 years to be found later, Indiana Jones style. It would just be lost. Yet the finds like these keep on coming. Amazing.
I hope this brings on a Splatoon revival. I would surely play more if they kept doing the splatfests. I've missed many even when I already had the game, so I don't care if they're repeat ones. I gather from the comments, most wouldn't either.
@RupeeClock Well, that's the trailer for the general audience, you know. I'd wager, the ardent fanbase is the vocal minority. For most people, it has too look charming and intrigue them with the story. Just the fact that there's some kind of battling, and it seems to be fun, is enough for them.
But if they did try to improve on stuff, the'll definitely show it the next feature-specific trailers (like they did with Paper Mario, if I'm not mistaken).
There's also a Donkey Kong head, but the screenshot is cropped for some reason, so you can't see it here. I suppose these will have some effect on gameplay mechanics.
Or maybe these these are Metroid and DK-themed bonus levels? They seem like VR helmets. Maybe Mario puts them on and goes into bonus levels?
I'm not sure how well Pianista plays on the Switch, but I absolutely adored it on my iPhone. Super fun daily leaderboards, plus you get to enjoy and learn about some classical music!
That said, I've played some Rhythm Heaven Fever on my Wii today, and words can't express how good that game is. I need it on the Switch badly.
Oh my, I would be all over Rhythm Heaven on Switch. RHF is one of my favourite games on the Wii. And it's fun to play with friends even in single player, simply taking turns to try beat the levels.
(And here I was thinking they might surprise us with a new entry in any coming Direct. Turns out it's not even in development?! SAD)
Yeah, this is getting ridiculous. I've written to Nintendo Russia recently asking if we're gonna have it back in stock. And they were like "nope. no such plans."
Can we please discuss if these kinds of articles count as spoilers? AC has little real plot, so it's finding details like these on your own that makes me enjoy the game so much.
It's been just four days since release, can NL wait at least some time before they spoil every little nicety through a headline?
I get that in today's world it is be first or lose; but this obsessive coverage of AC before and after release makes me visit NL less to enjoy the game on my own terms, even though I'm eager as ever for other Nintendo-related news.
Yeah.. I've been trying to buy it, but it's been sold out here in Russia for a good few months. And sadly I'm not sure if we're getting any more soon, since we're not a priority market for the big N, to put it lightly.
Though I think it looks fugly as hell, I'm sure kids will be all over this. I mean, it's almost like the dream of action figures coming to life. Not all the way, but close enough.
Having finished the Ace Attorney trilogy a few months back, I've been itching to get into the next games. All 6 games were rumoured to come out together a couple years back, but sadly Capcom is being silent on the second trilogy. So I've bought Apollo Justice for iPad and will probably spend most of my time in that one.
Yeah.. I don't see the gay angle as well. I mean, what happened to good old friendship? Can't people just hang out anymore, without being in a relationship, be they straight or queer?
This is great and appreciated, but may I suggest you tweak the icons underneath the screenshots? It would really make it easier to grasp if the (Docked) caption was followed by a Switch in a dock, and probably without the Joy-Cons. As of now, just adding the Nintendo logo onscreen doesn't really convey anything meaningful, in my humble opinion.
@rjejr Yeah, I got confused by that, too. But I guess, the video was form the point of view of Nook Inc, so it's like the travel company is planning to develop the island some more "later". But for the player it would be just after some set playing time or reaching some development level or something.
It's an exercise simply finding the game! Granted, Russia is not a huge market for Nintendo, so when I tried to find a place to buy the game online (in Russia), it was sold out everywhere!
I think it's time to bring the Miis back full time. Tomodachi Life Online + full Mii functionality on the Switch + MiiVerse NSO + a new MiiTomo app tied into all of this.
Those who scoffed at the Miis being a leftover from the casual Wii days have already gotten that Nintendo is serious about "real" gaming with the Switch. And those who miss their Miis (like me) would welcome it with open arms.
That's a shame. I still remember reading about Xenosaga in a games magazine when it came out and was so sad I didn't have money to buy a PS2. Would have totally bought this remaster.
Huh. I haven't played it, but the E3 footage I saw looked really janky and "game-like", for lack of a better word. Not smooth like you'd expect from a modern game. And I didn't see anything really new gameplay- or story-wise. If they improved it for release, all the better!

Re: WayForward Is Releasing Two Classic Shantae Games On The Nintendo Switch
For some reason I've always assumed the Shantae games were like middle-of-the-road quality platformers.
But seeing all this buzz, are they really good and I'm missing out on great stuff? I mean, I love me some platformers, for sure.
Re: Random: Niantic Got Rian Johnson To Direct A Pokémon GO Commercial
Just to balance things out here in the comment section. TLJ was the best of the new trilogy. Looper and Knives Out are fantastic.
The Fly episode of Breaking Bad was amazing. All these years later, I'm really surprised to find out that someone didn't like it.
Re: Soapbox: I’m Super Excited About The Future Of Animal Crossing: New Horizons
For me, I'd really love two things:
1) The interactivity update. All the friends I've had try the game wanted to ride that scooter, play the arcade cabinet or cook the fish they caught. You wouldn't believe the amount of time I spent just making different rhythms with several metronomes. Adding more interactive objects would expand the fun exponentially.
2) The villager interactions update. Re: Poll: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
Started it on the Wii, liked it, but never finished for some reason. So, it was a sure thing to buy this one, especially after loving XC2 to death.
Going digital, btw. Less plastic waste for the planet and faster accessibility for me is a win-win in my books.
