I love Paul Rudd, but that interview seemed SO press-release. Like, he didn't really have to share much about Nintendo besides the Donkey Kong memories, so he just steered any answer into a very general "this is fun" direction
But... turning rumble on is like turning off sound! Now wonder you were impressed. Imagine playing without sound for a year, and suddenly there's music! birds chirping, people talking!
I think Hollow Knight implemented HD Rumble perfectly. Check it out if you have the time. There are so many little bumps and clicks that make you connect to your character and to the world. I was really impressed by it at the time.
This is ludicrous. If it's that cheap, the profit they make is gonna be minimal. Could they not have sacrificed those 5 bucks off the console's profit and made it a pack-in? So Nintendo.
The question is, why would NoA and Japan/Europe get different Direct graphics?? I would assume they all get the same source file, then just dub it or add subtitles. Maybe NoA got an earlier version of the video earlier because they needed to dub it? And that was the one where the mistake wasn't fixed yet.
Rhythm Heaven is one of my favorite things ever, so I'm grateful for that.
Otherwise it was really weak, like 4/10. Tomodachi Life I've never played, I guess I may like it, but a bummer it's a 2026 release. The wizardring school sim looked nice, too.
Oh, and Metroid Prime trailer looked WAY too good for this to be Switch 1 footage. Weird.
Hey, that's the QoL device that Iwata promised us! Wow, they sure took their TIME.
Not sure about the idea though. If there's one thing I've learnt, it's this: never put your favourite music as an alarm. You'll start hating it in a few weeks.
With all the love for Ron Gilbert though, The Curse is my favourite part. Maybe because it was the first one I played. The art was gorgeous for a PC game at the time, and it also had a really cool PIRATE (pun.. intended?) translation. There was almost no official video game market in my country in those days, yet the pirate release had a really high quality translation and even voiceovers. Ten year old me loved it.
@BobLong-RickTangle I highly doubt they would go that way. But if they do, then I've just come up with a perfect name for a game with both Link and Zelda playable:
Breath of the Wild: Two. Or maybe even Breath of the Wild Two. As in, Link and Zelda, the Wild Two.
For some reason my brain read the headline as "Conan O'Brien Mistakes An Animal Crossing [The] Room For The Real Deal" and, seeing the screenshot, I was like... did he confuse an AC character for a real animal, what the hell???
My main worry is how the Tour tracks feel with a classic control scheme. I've tried Tour only once, but I felt the tracks were tailored to the mobile control scheme. I hope they've adjusted them a bit to the Switch controls.
Every turn in MK8 tracks feels meticulously crafted for manual controls and drifting. I hope the DLC feels the same.
On the second look, the Miis do look weird. But I'm still super stoked for this. It was the one thing I posted in all "what are your dream games?" articles.
(Now we just need Switch Party and a new Heaven Fever game)
I feel that everyone's jumping on the raytracing bandwagon, but few developers really understand how to use it.
Raytracing is really good for ultra-realistic style games. But there are many others, which have their own artistic style, and IMO it doesn't fit there at all.
BOTW is a no-no with its quasi cell-shaded aesthetic. Even the Spider-Man on PS4/5, which looks pretty realistic, didn't benefit from the raytracing remake, in my opinion. The more stylised, bright colours of the original PS4 release seemed way more suited for the comic book aesthetic.
@nhSnork wait, no warranty? won't Batka Lukashenko come in and repair all your consoles first hand?! Seems he likes to meddle with the lives of ordinary Belarussians, I'd think so!
j/k obviously.
Sometimes I wish there was region locking on the Switch. Just comparing Steam prices and eShop makes me cry. Like, Hades is almost 4 times more expensive on the Switch in Russia, and even though I'd love to play it on the Switch, it makes absolutely no sense from a financial standpoint.
The press release and the video seem really tongue-in-cheek. Maybe they hope to build some hype about a hidden game and then release it as a standalone title?
Or just having a laugh sarcastically making a silly app.
Okay, I'm definitely more impressed than last year. I don't even remember what games were announced then. Here, more than half of the games look really promising!
I got an ad for bananas (50% off on a food delivery service!) before I watched this video, I kid you not! Haha.
Jon seems to be the perfect guy to write the review, and I really appreciated his insight comparing the physics to the previous games. Still, as someone who's never played a Monkey Ball game and always wanted to, I might give this one a try!

You mean no more playing on the john?! Lame.

Re: Rhythm Heaven Groove Announced For Switch, Launching 2026
YESSSS. This is by far the best news to me out of this Direct. I cried of happiness, honestly.
Then they broke my heart with that 2026 release date. I can only assume it is an early year release. Feels like one.
Re: Nintendo Has Sneakily Confirmed The Switch 2's Mysterious 'C' Button
I heard Switch 3 is getting a new D button. What could THAT stand for..?
Re: Nintendo Announces 'Virtual Game Cards' For Switch, Unlocking Digital Lending
If they added lending to friends, it would be amazing. Otherwise, just meh...

@Boo-Buster Dentsu, the other company that co-founded NDCube, I would guess.

Re: Feature: Video Game Music That Didn't Need To Go That Hard
Basically any track from Ace Attorney.
Re: Ron Gilbert Is Back With Return To Monkey Island, Out This Year
@Guybrush-Threepwood Gabriel Knight 4 would be a dream. But Jane Jensen seems pretty happy writing gay romance novels nowadays.
The only way we're getting 4 is if it a Knight/Mosely romantic romp, it seems!
Re: Ron Gilbert Is Back With Return To Monkey Island, Out This Year
Woow, this is huge news! So stoked.

Re: Feature: 16 Theories About Link's Weird Arm In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2
I haven't seen so many arm puns being flung around since... well, ARMS.
That's why I find Kate's witty humour utterly disarming.
Re: Rumour: A New Zelda: BOTW 2 Name Is Gaining Traction Online...
That sounds almost like an internal title. Like, you know... Project Triangle Strategy.
A working title that just describes the mechanics. And then... they don't change it for some reason.

Why did she say BATMAN instead of badminton.
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023
They really need the time to come up with the title for the game, don't they.

man, what a bunch of jokers!
Re: Soapbox: Why Can't Nintendo Offer Both Virtual Console And Switch Online?
Very true. The launch of Apple Music didn't mean Apple had to shut down the iTunes Store. You can still buy that album you've always wanted.

@LordPieFace avoid splatting the fanbase. FTFY.

Splatoon 3 Salmon Run Next Wave & Knuckles featuring Dante from Devil May Cry
Re: Kirby And The Forgotten Land Gets An Epic New Trailer
Introducing... Vore Mode.
IMO, that was a great reveal. It was "that one special feature" to distinguish the gameplay different from previous games.
(Even though it is weirdly similar to Odyssey. Then again, one can see Odyssey as taking inspiration from Kirby, too.)
Re: Mario Strikers: Battle League Kicks Off On Switch This Summer
Never played the previous games, so this looks... okay? But I'm always ready to be pleasantly surprised!
Re: Chrono Cross Is Getting A Remaster, And Boy Does It Look Rough

Re: It's Official, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Is Launching On Nintendo Switch This September
I haven't yet finished 1 tbh, but 2 was one of the most engrossing gaming experiences of my life.
So stoked for this. September can't come soon enough.

Re: Random: Team Galactic Can Actually (Sort Of) Steal Your Pokémon In Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl
So many boring people in the comments. Why the long face?
Re: Feature: Animal Crossing Fart Jokes Remain Lost In Translation As Kapp’n Returns In New Horizons
That's why you should always name your character "I farted". So that Kapp'n would always go "Hello, I farted!"
Re: Limited Run Games Almost Released A Physical 'Clock' For Nintendo Switch, Seriously
Everyone has a Limited Run of minutes allotted to them... we just never know when that limit is...
Honestly though, this is so silly it would've been great. I especially like that one second shot of the guy with an axe in the trailer.

@Ooyah Yeah. They should have called the game "BATTLE DO". Would've been an instant classic.
Also, was that Totoro in the character roster???
Re: Join Us For The Nintendo Life Indie Spotlight, Returning On 4th October
So, we can definitely expect Silksong release date... right?

Re: Nintendo Shows Off Splatoon 3's 'Eeltail Alley' And That Awesome Crab Tank
@CharlieGirl True. There's also a crab in the new Kirby trailer. Has Kate been silent on that? Maybe there's a longform feature coming.
