Re: Nintendo President Outlines Reasons For Increased R&D Spend, Including Next-Gen Hardware

"We are also conducting a variety of studies, which include investigating ways to enhance our digital business, and future services that will help maintain long-term relationships with our consumers".

Studies like "Do NSO users want N64 and GC games on there?", I bet. Well, Nintendo, finish up your study already! Do the users want it or don't they?! Don't keep me in the dark!

Re: Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin Edges Towards One Million Sales

Wow, that's really impressive, isn't it. It looked lovely, but for some reason I feared the game wouldn't do so well. Glad that the marketing push did well (I was surprised to hear ads for it on, like, a pretty obscure podcast about Japanese ghosts).

Will definitely get a the game in the future.

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About E3 2021?

pinta_vodki

Whatever you say, nothing beats a blast of news like E3. Several days of new trailers and demos is an endorphin high few video game events can reproduce.

Plus, I always loved Treehouse demos with their gameplay footage and interviews with game creators. Nintendo rarely does this outside E3, so I welcome it for this as well!

Re: Nintendo Realises It Needs A 'How To Create A Mii' Video For Switch

pinta_vodki

Too bad there's no easy way to transfer Miis from the Wii to the Switch. I never had a 3DS, so all of my friends' Miis are stuck on the old Wii.

I think they could easily make a smartphone app that would scan your Mii onscreen and add them to your Nintendo ID.

Grandted, there's little need for that now, but I'm really hoping for more games that use the Miis (make Swiitch Party already!) and that would really come in handy.

Re: "As You Can See, I'm Not A Switch Player" Admits Epic Games' Tim Sweeney

pinta_vodki

I hope Apple wins this one. Arguing that App Store's 30% cut somehow hurts Epic, while it's less that 10% of Fortnites revenue, with all those other platforms available as an alternative, is just ridiculous. Apple is in their own right to do as they please as a private company.

It's like complaining that paying taxes reduces your income. Yet we all do it, because its beneficial for us. The security of the App Store is one of iPhone's selling points. Allowing anyone to install any app they want will greatly compromise the security of the system, which in turn would drive people away from the platform, thus reducing the revenue Epic gets from iPhone users in the long run.

At least Apple has a clear motive (i.e. security & safety) behind them, instead of Epic's "WE WANT MOAR MONEYY" reasoning.

Re: Anime And Manga Series 'Made In Abyss' Is Coming To Switch As A 3D Action RPG

pinta_vodki

@nessisonett @Octane I would really urge you to give it a try. It felt really fresh when I watched it. It's like an old-school 70s/80s kids anime with its "lets go on an adventure!" vibe, but with some darker (okay, really dark) moments mixed in. Yet they all serve a purpose, and the emotional climax of Season 1 left me bawling my eyes out. It is an unforgettable experience.

Re: Talking Point: Wii Features We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch

pinta_vodki

It would be cool if they added Wii charm via Themes. Like, let me set Wii as my OS theme so that I'd have a Channel-like grid of games, music in the E-Shop and main menu, etc.

They could make 3DS and Wii U-styled themes as well.

But number one on my wishlist is definitely the Miis. Bring it all back: Mii Channel with all its weird creations, Everybody Votes, and of course some new games like Mii Party and Wii Sports. I get that Nintendo tried to distance themselves from it, maybe to seem less casual. But there's definitely a lot of Wii nostalgia brewing lately.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Next Update Arrives Later This Week

pinta_vodki

I'm, too, disappointed with the updates, yet I can't but find if funny. It is such a Nintendo move it's almost ridiculous. Make something almost great, and then... never deliver on the obvious. Forlders & themes? Nope. VC on Switch? Nope. Mario Kart or Mario Party DLC? Nope.

With the amount of money it's made them — both in ACNH and Switch sales — I find it incredibly hard to believe they couldn't just hire a bunch of talent to work on expanding the world. Never mind the huge updates. Just having a steady stream of content without much fanfare would be so, so beneficial. Just small background updates.

Like, why not hire a writer to write new lines for the characters? A couple people working on new clothes daily would mean at least several hundred new designs a year. Some items are interactive, while others are not. Why not keep adding? Give me the ability to ride a scooter one week, then kick a ball next week, then something else, like an animation to drink tea.

A years work like this would've made the the game 10 times better. But Nintendo is being Nintendo again, alas!

Re: Talking Point: Is "Cheesing" A Legitimate Strategy?

pinta_vodki

@Azuris Oh, man, I remember me and my friend getting REALLY scared when we saw heard the Butcher's "FRESH MEAT" for the first time and instantly got killed! (Granted, we were, like, 10 years old, haha).

But later I finished Diablo 1 fair and square, no cheesing!

Re: Talking Point: Is The New Switch Lite Blue, Or Purple?

pinta_vodki

I'm gonna give you some more food for thought with the following important piece of information. Russian search engine Yandex's colour picker places your hex value somewhere between "blue-gray" and "the coulor of VKontakte" (The latter being like the Russian version of Facebook blue, hah, clever.)

So there you have it. Or don't.

Re: Memory Pak: Looking Into The Light In Super Mario 64

pinta_vodki

@KateGray Really love your pieces, Kate! After I started reading this one I was like "wait, I bet it's Kate's, this one is gooood!"

The rumour I remember from my youth about Russian knock off Game & Watch units (styled after a popular Soviet cartoon) where you were collecting falling eggs, was that if you got like 1000 eggs, it would show you an episode of that cartoon. No doubt, I had many friends that tried to get to that cartoon! (That magic thinking... we were to young to realise that the capabilities of a Game & Watch would never be enough to show you a real cartoon, haha.)
