Ring Fit Adventure for the Nintendo Switch is in-demand big time. In an update earlier this week, a Nintendo spokesperson told Polygon the company's latest fitness video game was "selling out" across North America.
the Ring Fit Adventure game is selling out at various retail locations in the Americas. We are working to provide more units as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.
This small update for this region follows on from the news last month that sales for the exercise game had rapidly increased in China due to the coronavirus outbreak. At the time, Chinese resellers were buying out any stock they could get their hands on in huge quantities and then selling it well above the retail price. It probably didn't help that it wasn't officially available in the country at the time, either.
Ring Fit Adventure stock shortages have also been reported elsewhere since COVID-19 has swept the globe. At the company's most recent financial results briefing in January, president Shuntaro Furukawa formally apologised for the worldwide shortages and inconvenience. As of 31st January 2020, Ring Fit Adventure's cumulative sellthrough has exceeded 1.7 million units.

It's so good, I stopped playing it because I was in physical pain after every session. I'm such a wimp...
I play it almost every day. It's a lot of fun and I hope that Nintendo can fulfill the demand. I would LOVE to see a sequel to this game and would buy it day 1.
I work retail and watching this thing’s popularity suddenly spike has been interesting. We barely sold any until like a month ago, and now there’s a massive shortage.
I have been wanting to purchase it since late January. Unfortunately, it is constantly sold out in my area. : /
Hopefully supply can meet demand soon. I really want it haha
Well soon we're all going to be in isolation either by choice or insistence so bring on the games!
Once they have a multiple player forget trying to find any. And this is whats coming for next release.
Ring Fit needs a sequel with more customization, new enemies and free roaming, not running on the straight line like runner game.
I’ll be honest I had no interest in this until the thought of being quarantined became very real... I guess everyone else had the same idea! 🤷🏽♂️
My wife was posting her results on snap chat a few days ago, and she got a dozen text messages asking what is it that she was doing.
Here in my weird American College town, it's always in stock at Target. I might drop by and give it a purchase, as the fever has only just taken over our consciousness
Wow, unlike Nintendo to not have enough stock.
lol I'm glad I got mine this last Christmas.
I love the game, but wish we could download it digitally. I don’t want to swap out the cart for my daily exercise routine (right now I am swapping it out with LM3).
I haven’t lost weight with Ring Fit (I need to work on my eating habits), but I am in much better shape and better flexibility.
makes me glad i got the last box my store had, hoping to play more of it tomorrow
I think its because a lot of them were sold during Christmas and in fisrt day of new year, now they cant keep it up,Nintendo just isn't able to fill the gap.
Overall bad news
Got in at launch, since i had to recover from hip injury.. so now the rhytm.. monday rijg fit... Tuesday zwift (cycling game, with you race cycle connected to your computer or ipad), wednesday Wii Fit U. And repeat.
Well, I'm glad I bought it Day-One. Great game
Never seen one in store.
I was hoping my local Toys R' Us had any left but alas they did not
This game got so lucky with its timing. It went from being a very niche product to a must-have item in everyone's quarantine toolbox. Too bad Nintendo can't keep the stock flowing.
I'm glad I got mine early. I've been playing for a couple of months now and it's been very good for me.
I finally started a diet in Feb and was using the Wii to help me with some exercise. Decided I was gonna get Ring Fit Adventure for Switch... aaaaand it was sold out. And has been ever since lol. By the time its back in stock (and at regular price...) I'll have no need for it!
Once I got done with it, I went back to my regular workout. I notice my body was getting out of shape doing Ring Fit. Sure it will get you fit, but if you're already better than fit, you better keep doing what you were doing.
When they started rehashing the same courses with palette swaps, that's when I started getting bored of the game. When they had a world full of boss fights and nothing else, the game was a bore.
With that said, I still enjoyed like 80% of the game, just not enough to go through it a second time when my body was going from daily workout shape to Ring Fit shape.
I got it for Christmas and still play most mornings. If they can create a sequel with combat or capturing things or multiplayer anything, I'll never stop. I'm 50 years old and I love being able to customize my workout based on which part of my body doesn't work on any given morning.
I am so glad that I bought Ring Fit on launch! It is a REAL WORKOUT and fits in great with pools being closed for these 2 weeks to combat coronavirus
This is a great game for people right now since so many are trapped at home with everything being shut down.
I’m trying my luck with Fitness Boxing tonight since I can’t find it anywhere and am not stepping foot in a gym right now.
I really want this game. I am just waiting to have the money.
@Anti-Matter with the great sales, let’s hope for just a substantive update and/or paid DLC.
My parents bought it for me for Christmas, so I’m good. Also have all the Wii Fit and Wii Sports games. Add that to lifting boxes of various sizes/weights and climbing ladders 5 days a week
If the stupid Scalpers didn’t buy all the copies that would be nice. I was planning to buy it with my tax return and then find out it’s been sold out everywhere the entire time I’ve had it. So frustrating.
With gyms becoming unsafe. And getting large exercise equipment probably harder this sounds like a easy indoor solution. I wish I would have got one. I might just though if I can find it in the next crazy weeks.
@Beatley82
The difference is that Ring Fit Adventure was widely available at launch last year everywhere outside of Japan, but has only now become supply constrained due to Covid-19 heightening the demand for in-home exercise products.
@westman98 I personally was waiting for tax return to purchase it and the. This crazy happened and now I can’t because people are idiots.
This is the best exercising game ever made. Nintendo I don't know how you do it, yall truly are the best and most diverse developers ever known to man.
Just got my copy not too long ago, my body was NOT ready for this thing. The workout is really effective.
It's not just America, I'm from the UK and even before Covid-19 was starting to have it's effects on the world Ring Fit was out of stock since it launched.
The only places you can get it are either Amazon UK's market place with independent sellers selling it for well over £100 or on Ebay, with similar mark ups or fakes.
I would really like it, but I'm not paying more than £64.99, which is what most retailers would be charging if stock issues weren't a problem.
Nintendo needs to send UK retailers q bunch of stock, as well as the rest of the world, they'll sell them easily.
I can't believe they can be having so much trouble making Ringcons and Leg Straps for the Joycons.
Other games seem to have plenty of stock of game cards, this should be selling to a high percentage of Switch owners or new buyers at this time.
I ended up buying Fitness Boxing. If looking for a temporary fix, you could do far, far worse.
What else are people going to do? Walmart cuts their 24-hour stores today for people who likely work that long. Staffers are telling them if they are sick, they should stay home. Especially if those who are quarantined to their homes. Ring Fit Adventure will have you stay fit while you are homebound for the time being.
And probably also why they can't get enough of that muscular dragon
It's going for over $200 on ebay. I like it, but I'm listing mine immediately. I can buy it again in a few months when it's back and get a couple more games along with it.
i'm pretty sure Nintendo underestimated the demand for it in Japan itself. That's where it all started and its' compounded because of all the other regions. This thing is on FIRE!!! I really want it but haven't gotten a chance to look for it. I doubt I could find one.
This is the new “Amiibo” or “NES/SNES Classic”’craze.
@Tandy255 how would that even work, you need the ring and leg wrap to use it (at least you need ring).
@JSDude1 The easiest way would be to sell the attachments with a download code. Japan has this option: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/09/ring_fit_adventure_file_size_revealed_download_code_version_also_available
I'm on Difficulty 26 and in the latter part of the first run of the game, and it is wearing me out after about an hour of movement-time. I'm certain now that the early reviewers who said that this wasn't a good workout did not (have the chance to?) play long enough.
If anyone at Nintendo reads comments for feedback (LOL):
1. Get Mountain Climbing and Planks to respond correctly, and,
2. Modify the Dreadmill speed to where the second speed keeps your exact place on the treadmill.
If you are considering buying the game and are concerned by those, don't be - you can work around #1 (by tricking the motion sensor for the gym challenges and selecting other exercises for your arsenal), and #2 only affects some sidequests that dole out some lousy items in exchange for perfection.
@Anti-Matter why though? It's literally a runner game.... you do run for the express reason of running. What would you gain from running in different direction? How do you even make a training game, where you don't control what person is doing? You have to have encounters in specific order and frequency to train different group of muscles.
Damn i missed the boat.
Wish i bought 10 of them could have made good money, like i did with the mini snes.
Yeah.. I've been trying to buy it, but it's been sold out here in Russia for a good few months. And sadly I'm not sure if we're getting any more soon, since we're not a priority market for the big N, to put it lightly.
@Chlocean Would you be willing to pick one up and ship it to me? I'd pay you in advance and throw in something for your trouble...
@Dr_Awkward Actually I can do that. How should I contact you?
@Dr_Awkward There are actually about 8 copies in Target right now. I could feasibly help you with that.
@Chlocean if you're willing to, I'd make it worth your while. Do you have a reddit account, or a way to contact you?
If you have a Reddit, I'm u/Dr--Awkward
@Chlocean dude I would be willing to pay you as well. Reasonably of course. And also I am on reddit u/anjuvena
@Chlocean Is there any way you can help me out as well? Happy to pay for it plus shipping and a little extra for your trouble!
@dhc284 I might be able to help with that, Do you have a reddit account, or is thete some other way to contact you?
@Chlocean yep! you can hit me up on reddit at thedannychang
thank you!
@Chlocean I would pay you (including the shipping cost) if you can deliver to international. My country (Malaysia) is selling it at 200usd
@chlocean I would love a copy, too, if you picked those up and have a spare. I’m thomasqbrady on Reddit.
@thomasqbrady We're all sold out now, sorry!
