@KcebEnyaw I disagree. Banjo 1 was great, and the controls were good for the time. You have to remember that back then 3D platforms were a new thing, and IMO Banjo 1 was one of the few that got it sufficiently right for the levels you got to play, which were mostly flat, small and linear overall. The Xbox version is even better because it removes some of the frustration in collecting music notes.
Yooka Laylee on the other hand has the worst and most annoying controls I've ever seen on a 3D platformer, and this is coming from someone who managed to 100% Gex: Enter The Gecko on the N64. Even that controlled better than YL.
@ShaiHulud IMO the level expansion mechanic was unnecessary padding, the game could have worked just as well being expanded from the start, and there are too many places where a skill is needed, but it's hard to tell whether you don't have it yet, or you have it but haven't used it correctly. Also, that final boss was terribly frustrating and not fun at all.
Just on the 360 I have around 10 Sonic games and that's just a fraction, so yeah, I believe this.
Sega sure has made a lot of mistakes with it's IP, but many developers could learn a thing or too from Sega on making their back catalogue available wherever possible.
I bought it when it launched to take advantage for the Prime discount, but haven't even boot it up once yet. Definitely need to push this game higher in my backlog.
I really enjoyed the first one on my phone, but I found the sequels to be too creepy and slightly "jump-scare"-y for my taste, more than it needed to be at least, so I never finished them.
@BlueBlur101 Yeah, that's what I think too given the circumstances, but since it seems they had this game ready to go, I was just wondering whether there was official confirmation there wouldn't be one.
I guess a better question is whether there's a chance they could patch the inevitable issues this release will eventually have.
I hate to be the guy asking this, because it irks me when people do, but any word if there'll be a physical release, given the circumstances? I don't mind digital, but the physical version was quickly discounted in amazon for the first game, and I'd rather have it physical if it's an option.
I don't see what the problem is. It's somewhat realistic to the point where I barely even noticed it. Definitely not a "Chun Li in SFV versus screen" level jiggle. This is more like a side effect of maybe trying to apply cloth physics.
I watched the whole keynote live where they introduced the Quest, and I couldn't help but imagine how awesome it would be if Nintendo released the existing VR Mario Kart game for the Oculus Quest, which in a way isn't that different than planning to release Mario Kart Tour on mobile.
It's never going to happen, but I'm sure a significant number of additional Quest devices would be sold just because of it.
@BanjoPickles Same here. SotN is great, but IMO its sequels greatly improved on it so much, specially Dawn of Sorrow. I'd rather have those games, which have never been re-released.
Having never gotten into any of the past Smash games, this is the first guide that could actually be useful to me, to get some insight on the "meta". But I think I'll stick with the inevitable My Nintendo starter guide when it's released.
@Ralek85 The problem is these sort of rants are taking over all of the internet, and it's just pointless to keep repeating the same things everyone who cares about them more than likely already knew before. Personally, I'm just about to quit on all sort of Nintendo news sites at least for a while until this whole thing hopefully blows over and we get back to real news and articles.
> Multiplayer games like Splatoon still relying on P2P.
Please read up more on this. It's the general consensus that MP games with low number of players per team actually benefit from P2P. It's a misconception that just adding "dedicated servers" is unequivocally better.
I know I'm in the minority, but I can't think of a single game where losing my saves would be anything more than a minor inconvenience, even my 500+ hour, all modes S+ Splatoon 2 save file. And it's not like our consoles are a ticking bomb ready to explode at any moment.
I'm really hoping this "our daily thing to complain about and never shut up about it" phase passes quickly. We all know the pros and cons of this thing, accept it or move on to something else please.
Is Sega Ages supposed to be console games only, or does it include arcade games? because I'd love to have a port of any/all Outrun games, but only if it's the arcade games.
IIRC correctly I knew about this during the NES era, and if IIRC as well, controlling the ducks was hard as hell, not quite one-to-one commands.
Mega Man 3 had some second controller tricks too, I don't recall the specifics but I think you could freeze enemies by pressing a button, and I think maybe jump higher? It's been a while.
@saintayu It's not that Nintendo did it first, it's that they had immense success with it twice in a row, proving there's a market before investing into more involved projects like this. This is no Atari Flashback, just the licensing is probably a lot of work to get this out.
I don't understand why they don't release the full game list, given it comes out in mere months. It's kind of worrying, as if they don't have everything locked down, but maybe it's just a marketing thing.
I'm tempted to get one just for FF7, but if this thing has RE2, it's a day one purchase for me, as I've been dying to replay that game, and I seriously dislike the direction the remake is taking.
@huyi What you call greed, I call smart use of their IPs. There's a reason why one company is still successfully making consoles and highly praised games and the other one isn't.
People complain about lack of a proper Virtual Console, but with this, all the Final Fantasy, ACA games and many other ports, the Switch is becoming like a universal VC.
@Nincompoop both Batman series let you be Batman in very different ways. They both have their merits and are both worth it IMO. The Arkham series is just a better “game” in the traditional sense.
I actually prefer this art style then the hyper realistic approach of the original. IMO it fits better with the original FF games, and isn't as jarring when you have characters with incredible hair rendering technology yet things popup out of nowhere.
My only concern is how much of the game story and events is cut from this version. But it's definitely on my radar now.
I think reviews in general for all types of media are pointless for the most part. If you like something, then try it, don't let someone else's opinion pre dispose you into whether something is or isn't worth your time, or how you should feel about it. They are also usually spoiler heavy.
The exception in videogames though, is that many times we need to know before hand whether performance or other QA issues can affect the experience, and in many cases there is no way to "test" the game so to speak.
I'm surprised BotW has "only" sold about a million units there. I'm aware Zelda is more popular in the west than in Japan, but still, it's shocking to me to see the actual numbers.
@justin233 If you are in the US, the NES Classic currently in stock in amazon, and has been for a few weeks. The SNES Classic, is currently slightly above MSRP, but it too has been in stock multiple times, I've bought like 4 so far.
@Realnoize Good point I forgot about that. While I personally didn't mind the required connection 99% of the time (was only bothered that one time I tried to play in a theater and couldn't), it was certainly a mistake to require it. I understand that piracy is a huge problem in the mobile world in particular, but they should have found another way around it.
Interesting, I don't think those things were mistakes, at all. The one mistake IMO is that there were too few levels at launch. There should have been 8, and perhaps even the Star worlds should have been included at launch as well.
On the contrary, I disliked Remix 10, because it goes the way of most f2p games, just giving you endless mindless tasks to do, as opposed to Toad Rally which turned those tasks into a competition of sorts against others, and collecting colored coins in the regular levels, which is the part that gives you the full Mario game experience.
But overall, I still really liked SMR, and honestly got way more than my money's worth out of it.
Probably a day one for me. I completed the variety kit with my daughters and her friends, and we had a blast. We still play it from time to time. This looks like a kit that I'll be enjoying even more. My only problem is where to put them, as this looks to take even more space.
@Ryu_Niiyama The first season is really good IMO. One of the most emotional gaming experiences I've ever had. The second one not so much, and I haven't played the 3rd one yet. Do note that while the game makes a big deal out of the choices you make, they don't really change much like in the Batman game where you can play entirely different scenarios. In TWW the choices are more about being the character instead of changing the story.
If you are interested, Telltale usually discounts their games at some point, wait for a sale and try the first season.

Re: Review: Luigi's Mansion - Experience The GameCube Classic The Way It Was Meant To Be Played
One of my last Prime-discounted purchases, can't wait to finally replay it after more than a decade, so long it might as well be new to me.
And I for one am glad it's on the 3DS instead of Switch. Love the 3D effect and it's good to know there's at least a few new(ish) 3D games being made.
