@Cashews I agree, I also think the old backgrounds are far more fitting. The new one look a lot like asset store props. anyways the core game is so good that the game is still very enjoyable (at least thats my impression after the demo)
the remake could be far better in my opinion. the backgrounds look too color less and sometimes a bit cheap, the portraits look fantastic but sadly they do not fit the backgrounds nor the character sprites. Anyways I had a blast with the demo, it's one of my favorite RPGs of all time and I still love the characters, the music, the world, battle system and the story so much that i don't care much about the issues. In my opinion this is still much better than 95% of todays JRPGs
I just ordered it because I'm afraid the physical version will be sold out rather quick (since there is no american version). I'm now afraid of that the port is a s bad as the other bandai namco switch ports (klonoa, tales of symphonia)
i don't care about the single player at all. I say this vers rarely but the game needs better graphics. the gameplay is already near perfect but all 3 games look almost the same. it's going to be really difficult for nintendo coming up with interesting new ideas
those scam games anoy me for quite some time. I'm a game developer myself and i put a lot of time, tears and love into my work and those scam companies make it so hard for us good developers to get visibility (which is the most Important thing nowadays to make a living)
I'm very surprised that the north american one got so many votes, to be honest I think is after the UK one the worst. My favs are the japanese and the german one
@-wc- undertale is great just play it. i actually think its very different to earthbound I never understood those comparison. i think it might be more inspired of mother 3 but even though I love undertales story, the one of mother 3 is one of the best stories ever written in video games in my opinion. it's stuff that should be analyzed in schools.
also i think we should be open for everyone in the mother community, the more people we can convince to play those games the better.
most people who are really into the game prefer the DS version because it has far better text and cutscene direction. I actually think just visually the Pixel Remaster is the worst version. The UI is just so damn ugly.
actually this isn't a lot its just about 5 million euro or dollars or something... in a year... for a company with over 300 employees... sounds very little to me to be honest. which is sad.
it's also crazy to me how easy you can frame a News in a certain way. just read the comments, no one even tried to calculate how much 800 million yen really are...
@Shade_Koopa Yes same here. I can live with 30fps but if a game looks like crap and then even drops under 30 fps its ridiculous. Just look at Xenoblade and Zelda, it looks sooo much better and normally those games run 30 (with sometimes rarely dipping)
@bluesun I wonder why those games are anyways so big and the only possible solution is that the team behind the port had not time or didn't care because the original game was just 2 CDs big which can't be more than 1.4 gb... And to be honest it looks like they did no changes to MGS1 at all (texture wise). Feels like lazy to me.
@PKDuckman That is correct but I would pay 70 if everything would be on card. now I'm not buying it, at least not the full set. likely just MGS1... Not every company can be as cool as CD Project red and put EVERYTHING on the cardridge even the DLC... (Even Doom Eternal got a limited run games version with the whole game on card)
it would be also ok if the game would be just less ubisoft and more nintendo... it feels just to shallow often. i mean the core gameplay is great but the whole meta game is so much ubisoft in a bad way
it's kinda funny, most people seem to make games by using existing IPs and not coming up with own Ideas. Either that or sites like nintendolife feature more those IP copies than fresh ideas, which is a pitty.
tears is a collectathon in my opinion and yes it makes a lot better but i think it's design wise a lot less elegant. yeah you get dopamin every few seconds because you collect stuff all the time but it often feels like work and i never ever had that feeling with botw. that being said i think tears is still a brilliant game and 10/10
I still think they shipped too many games either in a bad state or in a half hearted way. chrono cross, sucked with their mix up on resolution scaling etc, the game was stuttering. harveststella was not what it promissed and was also not very good. diofield chronicles could have been a good game but it was just not done properly. then you had dragon quest treasures, it was an ok game but it could have been a phenomenal game if they would just added a lot more polish. tactics ogre has the same issues almost all square enix ports have, they mess the graphics up with bad scaling and auto smoothing... not saying this would make them earn a lot more money but i at least bought a lot less games from them than i would have liked...
now they make every game 2d hd and not because it fits for all those games, no they do it because it's cheap. and they will do it until no one want's to see it anymore
it's clearly a 10. sure the graphics could be more appealing but the core gameplay is almost perfect. also the game is easy to learn but hard to master
@dskatter it was 7am, i don't speak native english, so sorry for the typo. The gold coins didn't work for me on Thursday either, but it worked on Friday... It helps just being patient...
at this point 90% of the new game boy games feel like milking the cash cow. those games do look not very appealing even for gameboy games and they are very easy done with gb studio.
I can't put the finger on it but somehow even though single graphics and effects look good, it just doesn't look very juicy... not sure why. It's also very empty
