it's funny that in articles like this, it's always mentioning the steam deck even though it's not even close to the wii u in terms of sales numbers... and no one would ever say that the wii u grew the console market

But I still have hope they learn, in FF tactics they at least added the option to switch to the old graphics... lots hope they don't mess this up again

sometimes I ask myself if it wouldn't be better if the studio just closed... then they cannot ruin anymore classics...

@RiasGremory I think that is either cancled or was just concept art.

To be honest I wouldn't consider this very healthy. a game from them cost likely 10-30 million and having only so little profit is not that great.

I hope so much their next game will finally hit the 4 million mark, if a developer earned it then them.

sometimes I even would prefer having single releases.
For example I would have liked every Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster game as a separate release. All with their own nice cover, booklet and so on.
Ideally they would have made the "remaster" better and added more options like original graphics swapable etc..

Oh and btw if you like this stuff, the MGS collection is also full of messed up Gen AI upscaling... ets even worse actually. All the posters in the MGS games are a complete mess, like no one checked the art before they added it to the game.

and so a save buy becomes a skip...

the online mode is messed up already since launch.
there is no skill required anymore just item luck... and you get interrupted all the time from items.
local the game is great but online it's dead for me.

What are you talking about! it was the first gamepad with analoge shoulder buttons.
Acutually they even have half way a click that was used in many games. In Star Wars Rogue Squadron this is even essential. This never came back even though it was brilliant.

I have no issues so far.

Nintendo completely ruined online play with MKW.
It is just not fun at all when you are a good racer and now it's 90% up to item luck if you can make it to the first place.

I had also no issues but I also didn't play online.
They are not going to fix online play and that for a very easy reason: they would need to change to dedicated servers and thats really expensive.

I haven't played that much NGC yet on the S2 but I had no issues.

I think the reason for the bigger screen is just to fit the hardware in the case because smaller hardware means usually it costs more.

I hope for a lite at one point.

I have no issues with the screen so far. looks good enough for me. Maybe I'm just old and know how it was to play on a gameboy or I'm just thankful with the device itself.

and they can keep it. I likely won't buy any falcom game anymore if they come only on game key cards

it looks cool but a game from the creators of gollum and xel might be not so exciting for some.

@Serpenterror I don't know why it shouldn't feel like a premium game. It is by far the biggest, most refined and visual appealing Mario Kart game. If this isn't feeling premium to you, it's maybe yours and not the games fault.

oh no... the many poor kids that get now MK8 instead of World because they told their parents or grandparents they want Mario Kart...

@thenikdavies it's very easy to explain.
1. Nintendo is more likely to feature your game in any of their showcases if it isn't announced for their systems yet.
2. almost no one has dev kits for the system and almost no one knows when they will get one. So they cannot announce anything. Thats was a mistake of nintendo

@Chimichanga that was my thought too... but to be honest this game also looks like it doesn't run well. And it also doesn't look fantastic but it's still worlds better than pokemon.

They included the old version with pixelized graphics and the new one. It seem like Square Enix is listening, this is fantastic! Can't wait for the game!

the poor tech art and art direction is also not fixable with frame rate and resolution. It's a miracle that this game even exist... the game looks like it was made by juniors (judging on some of the tech art decisions)

and they all sound like breath of the wild yeah...

@Anachronism in almost all cases you get nice booklets and well made inprints in your LRG standart editions.
some people complained here in the comments, I think LRGs still better than almost all other physical publishers especially for the price

There are so many excellent rom patches for the first two generation of pokemon games, I wouldn't want to play vanila anymore to be honest.
And I'm not talking about the crazy rom hacks, I'm talking about quality of life features added to the first games and stuff like fully colored hack for red and blue.

@WiltonRoots well why do you even care about those people. just keep it and go on with your life. why do you defend a big company like Nintendo? I can tell you a secret, the switch 2 is going to be successful and won't be a wii u, you can voice your opinion Nintendo is not dying because of that.
I own every Nintendo system except of the virtual boy and I was super excited for the switch 2 and that excitement is fully gone since the announcement a month ago... and I do not even care about the increased prices.

the experimental titles you mentioned are all fine but none were great.
Octopath and Bravely i would even consider lazy with having a game structure that repeats over and over again... as soon as you understand that you go from one town to the next and to fight the guys who give you the next job class it's very quickly borring

In my opinion they are doomed. SE is trapped, new Final Fantasy games need crazy graphics or other wise the latest fans are disapointed.

They should stop making games with a repeating formula like Octopath and Bravely and look more into making well crafted and original experiences like they did on ps1.

Their last years biggest games were memberberries games, games that sold because of nostalgia, that is telling...

they made it a live service game... this means I skip or buy late in a bigger sale

this is very subjective but for me Mario Kart is worth more.
Look at Red Dead 2 and look at Breath of the Wild, then tell me which is the game thats more fun

i spend already a lot for games and i don't want to spend more, which means less games or more indies

But to be fair, Xbox and Playstation having a similiar thing to game key cards, they just don't have a label for it.
many if not most of ps5 and xbox series games cannot be played if your not online or download something from the internet.
