@Pillowpants I think it's possible to make a game that has pixel art but line drawn sharp characters in the UI layer but it's very very difficult to make and here it just feels off.
I hope for Xenoblade games and Donkey Kong tropical freeze. Since the Switch generation, nintendo started to make more ambient soundtrack and those are bad for just listening them anyways. There is no real banger in either Zelda or Mario game since that generation and both had sooo many bangers before in every game...
@LuigiFanno1 if I could share links here I would but maybe just google "nintendo switch 2 physical game sales".
It's already the first articles that pops up.
anyways why are you so against having games on card? I really don't get it. If you prefer digital, thats great no one wants to take that away from you. If the whole debate is a problem for you just stop clicking the articles
@AllBLK that's BS sorry. sure companies release surveys all the time to collect data but here many things fall in place. 80% of the switch 2 games sold physically and most of that is actually nintendo stuff and cyber punk. (you can even calculate this with official numbers). nintedo is very concerned about they key cards... there are even news now that let asume nintendo is ordering more different size card (saw it on a website called nintendo soup).
@ktej75 the main reason for games being bigger in size than they need to be is that it's work to reduce size. look at call of duty, I'm sure that size could be reduced by half or so. but they have to deliver those games so quickly, they just don't have the time to do optimisation like this.
@AllBLK that's BS sorry. if enough people complain and let their wallet speak they are going to think how they can change. It's ridiculous to believe they make this surveys to pretend they would care...
@Pillowpants Not a Hollow Knight fan myself but silksong is no 1 in steam wishlists since a while, which means it's one of the biggest game in general.
It plays well but man they are so lazy when it comes to the setting and visuals... It's the most boring fantasy setting I can imagine... not even close to the incredible worlds of the mana games or final fantasy, xenogears/blade... you can add any ps1 rpg here...
But I do not care anyways, I won't buy it since it's a game key card
It's very likely I'm not buying a single game of this direct and this very rarely happens. Square Enix and especially Nintendo can keep their game key card trash. In my opinion the only thing that can turn that Switch 2 generation into a good thin is, if they find a way to stop with the game key cards. Other wise I will spend a lot less money on games. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only wale they are going to lose with this crap.
@uncleMike because everything in game development is super slow. we will see in a year and as I said Square enix has two options now either they make proper cards or they will lose some sales.
there is also a third option
make a special edition that is more expensive and that includes the game on the card. this then can be limited to however much preorders they got. essentially the limited run games system. after that preorder phase everything else is a key card. so they won't sit on any expensive unsold copies
@AussieMcBucket I actually think people are fine with key cards if the game is bigger than 64gb. its just a problem when smaller games are on a key card. I mean most of those games wouldn't even need the switch 2 cartridge speed or just could run the switch 1 version with higher fps and resolution.
@uncleMike sorry but this is BS have you read any of their social channels whenever a game key card is announced. they totally get this message. They have two options either making proper cards or they are going to miss out on some sales.
@nin10doom and I think your opinion is totally valid. I personally enjoy collecting a lot and it's a big part of my hobby, I will lose a lot with those game key cards. I bought over 300 physical switch 1 games and I can tell already my switch 2 library is going to be A LOT smaller...
@Fragpiper dude you don't have to read it, you say we should just go away but no you should just go away from the comments. problem solved, you can thank me later...
to be honest I'm good forever with octopath traveler. the second one started really good and became so incredible boring in the second half... it felt like work. They also didn't fix the worst design decisions from the first game and I bet they didn't for the third one...
and now we have the same again... long lead up times for switch cards and expensive cards... and for that the consumer has to suffer and has to deal with key cards
@Sonicka I played MKW and I think it has the worst online play of all MK games. DK Bananza is almost beaten, maybe in a week and then what? drag x drive lol? I'm not going to support cheap game freak and I don't care about Kirby Air Riders, a very mediocre game cube game successor. Hyrule Warriors was nice on the Wii U but it over stayed it's welcome. So we have Metroid Prime 4 and what else?
uff that comes a bit disappointing... I mean a partnershowcase can be really good but I want to know whats next on my switch 2 and when is Metroid Prime 4 finally coming out...
And the worst thing is, I bet all or almost all games in that direct are game key cards on switch 2, which means I will pass.
@Kneppy18 The most games can be played absolutely fine without a day 1 patch. there is even a website that tracks this and only very little games need a day one patch to be played properly.
I skip all the key cards just because I want to send a message to the companies.
Nate is almost always right when it comes to nintendo things. That being said, I think you don't have to be a fortune teller to know that a direct need to come soon since there is nothing big on the horizon and that cannot be the goal with a brand new system
@AitoHikari It takes a little bit of time to bring it to another System but in this case I assume it's because it's sort of a Live Service Game. that means you have to bring updates to all systems at once and you have to get approval for all systems separately, also you have to test on all systems etc. . This work piles up and for a small studio it can be too much if the game doesn't sell enough and on Xbox games don't sell (only gamepass)
If they bring the game to Switch 2 I sell my Switch 2. I won't play on a system where this game is on... Just kidding, ofc we want the game on Switch 2... what a question
@Xansies actually wizardry is the RPG that inspired most early JRPGs. Anyway it's a remake, I expect more. Actually Dragon Quest games until 11 did barely change. I tried so many of them and I really wanted to like them but they are just not very good.
@FatDaddyD I absolutely would spend 10 bucks more if all games would be fully on card. That would also lead to a situation where Nintendo produce far more cards and the cards would become cheaper
@gaga64 I don't think they will make a switch 2 version of DQIII (but ofc I don't know it).
But I can tell you that DQ3 is one of the most over hyped games in my opinion. It looks great but the gameplay is as boring as it can get for a JRPG. There is almost no story (and the little there is is really boring), the gameplay is essentially extremely boring dungeons and battles that do not need a single brain cell.
There are many other Switch JRPGs that are better, if you haven't played Star Ocean 2 for example, try that, it's old school as well but far superior.
That sounds like a really lazy excuse. That means they can keep both of their games.
Making max amount of money buy selling the game key card... SE really was once such a fantastic company...
@Mocznik Many people said the same about switch emulator and now their almost all gone or at least it's harder to get your hands on them. Nintendo doesn't need to get rid of all rom sites they just need to make it difficult enough for pirates. Some people will always pirate but some won't if it's to complicated or if they get a virus from a russian forum
@SplatRay001
Thats essentially Steven Spielbergs position too. He also beliefs that you have to make movies that appeal to millions and at the same time you can make art.
For myself "product" has a bad connotation so I just call it a game or a video game. Everyone can do how they want to call it.
