@Agramonte To be honest I expected a much larger drop considering its stock problems, being a retro RPG, zero publicity as well as Xbone sales...[removed] its done exceptionally well with this in mind.
Rarely I'd say this about an arcade game but...I'd rather have the ZX81 port instead! It just played so much better, the sequel too but not the 3rd game which was total crap.
Doesnt help that both games arent being sold in a lot of supermarkets, Sainsburys near me has only just put in a Switch section and is only selling games released last year!
In what world is Road Rash 64 underrated? Not this one. There hasnt been a good Road Rash since the 3DO one, ok got ported to PS1 but it wasnt as hood.
Ive been waiting for this game, the Steam one is still technically unfinished but I hope the Switch version comes after the problems are ironed out.
I didnt know SNK took action to stop the Neo Geo X from being produced after Tommo screwed it up. You'd think Sega would do the same with AtGames as thodr are actually far worse and are making Segas reputation worser than it is...but nope Sega extend their contract to release it in Japan...
The Spyro games still stand up today in terms of gameplay and also the camera still works great compared to other 3d platformers of the day. In my eyes they have aged better than Crash has.
Hotel Mario aint that bad, I'd play it over Mario Pinball, any edutainment title and the Mario Party games mentioned. The 2600, Intellivision Donkey Kong games are easily worse seeing Colleco made them to be terrible as they wanted to give the impression that their Collecovision (which had a good conversion) was a superior console.
Detective Pikachu would have been a hit on the Switch. Same goes for all the 3DS games that were announced on the last Direct.
I know the 3DS/2DS is still selling lots of consoles but its parents buying them for kids who'll just have one or two new ganes a year...and those will be Mario Kart, Mario platformers or proper Pokemon.
Anyone in the UK who wants LA Noire, check out Tesco as they're selling it for £28.
I was tempted by Doom but I rather pay the extra 6 quid for physical although I'm still kinda put off as its a tenner new on other platforms! So most likely I'll wait until then. Thats really my only problem with these ports, the price and yeah its nice to have portability but for me not really worth paying an extra £30-40 for that luxuary!
I'm impressed! I've not heard of a Kirby game even make the top 10 in the UK so very well done to one of my favourite. characters especially seeing reviews are in the 7/10 mark. Got my copy day 1 from Tescos, the only none online place selling it for £40 and I've really enjoyed it. Its nothing ground-breaking but its fun and its nice to play a game that is joyful and you can chill out too (sometimes its good to play something thats just fun and not taxing) though I do hope Hal/Good Feel can do something more akin to Mass Attack etc for a future entry and god damn I'd love a HD collection with the 2 great Wii games.
Seems to be sold out in a lot of places now though, I guess retailers didnt see this as a big seller due to past entries uyt it bolds well for future entries AND to me could mean the likes of Metroid, F-Zero etc could do better on the Switch than on past consoles cos so far Nintendos own software is doing great.
Indie games are far more interesting to me as they have a stricter budget and arent overblown graphically. The best ones think outside the box to see what they can do to make up for being less shiny.
I think Nintendo are more akin to indie devs than other AAA publishers only with actual budget so you get the best of both worlds. Games like BotW that look beautiful but have a ton of thought and ideas put in so their games are more thsn just lookers.
I got it with the the Nintendo Humble Bundle thing and it was extremely good. I think a sequel for Switch is a shoe in as this will sell well seeing the Wii U one did.
@Dr_Lugae The CEX here has quite a lot of nieche titles here, its heloed my Wii collection imnensley however the prices for used Switch/3DS games are pretty much identical to wgmhat Game has for brand new. Its such a rip off.
It looks...ok at best. Just seems like its catered to the mobile phone market and "spiritual successer" is a joke as no one involved in the origin is working in this. Its like saying Great Gianna Sisters is the spiritual suvcesser to the original Super Mario Bros. Anyway a Trine trilogy would be a better option for Switch.
Never got into the game myself but it'll be great for some to see it reissued and maybe its a sign that EA are looking to bring the series back especially as the NFS series has forgettable entries each year...I didnt even know one just came out!
Now a collection of the Burnout games before would be very tasty!
@Masurao You know what? I think you're right. Do something entirely different that would appeal to retro fans AND give an reason for those with other platforms to actually buy it over the other version which theyre much more like to be able to plsy with friends online. [removed] some people could be tempted to buy both!
Dev cost of something retro would be far lower too.
Its no suprise. The install base for what is mainly a multiplayer online game is higher on Xboxes and Ps systems. If i had more than one console id choose the one that my friends and collegues game on.
Its one of my favourite entries and at that price is a excellent bargin when its a lot less than most used retails copies! So much value for money with all the mini games added too.
Planet Robobot however is even better, adds to the Kirby forumla without feeling gimmicky.
This thing is gonna be pricey right? Thats if these rumours are true, i mean the Wii U is still overly expensive due to that controller and now im seeing PS4 and Xbone being around £200-250!
Sadly no one talks about HAL Labs PAL only New Ghostbusters 2 NES game. For me the best GB video game, HAL did a great job on it, easily outshines this and the first game by a long stretch.
I didn't even know they did that game, in only really know them for FPS titles like the F.E.A.R series, No One Lives Forever, Blood and Condemned and I'd love for new game in any of those series.
Lack of racers on the 3DS has nothing to do with whatever limitations a portable system has, that should be irrelevant nowadays. Some of the best games ever made were on platforms with at least the power of the 3DS especially the racing genre.
This would have been perfect, the original does have some slowdown that the GBA could have rectified.
This is a series I want Capcom to bring back more than anything else they've done (Sweet Home would be a close second). It had an fantastic art style that would stand out today and gamers would go for it too now.
@yaryah21 Graphics has nothing to do with it, the game uses a lot of memory for its randomly generated worlds. It could be possible to do it but there would be a dip in frame rate.
I think with the right studio and writers/directors who are passionate enough they could easily have some great animated movies. Something like Zelda would do great if handled like the How To Train Your Dragon movies and Metroid could lend itself well to a survival movie where Samus is stranded on an alien world.
This game was the first Zelda game I didn't bother to complete. I've gone back to it a couple of times but boredom sets in...same said about all of the Zelda's that followed afterwards. Now I did think it was due to me aging and having less time for games but I yearly go back to WW, IoT, MM as well as the 2D ones (baring the ones after the GBC titles) so can't be that. I guess the magic has left, there seems to be a lot of padding (more so than the treasure bit in WW), the games seem to be going through the motions purely existing because fans expect them to exist.
Man, I hope the Wii U game gives the series a serious shot in the arm and I don't care how many delays it gets until we get something truly worthy.
It would take little effort. Just get member of staff to look at the fan translation to see if it meets their standards, change some things if required and ask to use it. I'd doubt the people who made the translation would mind Nintendo using it even without payment.
Don't expect Nintendo to take an idea like Doodle Jump, Flappy Bird etc and slap Mario on. Look at what they did for the DS and ESPECIALLY the spin off Kirby games to see what Nintendo could do with an existing character. They have a huge wealth of puzzle titles (many with Kirby, Yoshi, Picross, Panel De Pin, Dr Mario etc) they could easily port but again this is Nintendo, expect the unexpected...for example a God damn Metroid Sports title.
What really annoys me about Nintendo is how they put zero effort into these releases and a title like this could be greatly improved with some minor touches .
