Re: Gunscape, the Level Creator and Cross-Platform FPS, is Now Due on Wii U in Q2

hadrian

@rjejr Actually many didn't buy into those ports, hence why 3rd party support dropped. Of course some of those were old games, some lacked content of the other versions but then the likes Most Wanted had the best versions on Wii U and sold poorly. Quite frankly it's not worth even farting out a cheap port as those still cost more than what they would recoup.

The WIi had a huge consumer base so publishers made the effort to say put the likes of Dead Rising onto Wii...and they didn't really sell. If those didn't sell on the Wii then why on earth would they do the same with a console that will never even remotely have even a quarter of the consumer base that the Wii had?

Re: Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge Launches in Japan This Month

hadrian

Nintendo could make a killing with its own Skylanders/Disney Infinity and drive Amiibo sales even further...but then they could make a killing with various remasters, compilations etc etc. Nintendo does what it wants.

NST does the MvsDK series so i reckon this is the Amiibo project they are working on and its yet another lazy title, NST have donevfar better than this but they seemed to be reduced to MvsDK all the time or providing assistance on other games. Would it hurt to do one like the first GBA title? Or even something different or work on a franchise that hasn't been run into the ground?

Re: Southwest Air Course Goes Live In Super Mario Maker With Sky Pop Costume From Super Mario Land

hadrian

@Kirk Yeah as much as I like the NSMB games they are very "cut and paste" when it comes to design for each game and graphically it's quite bland. I miss seeing Mario platforms that you could easily tell apart from screen shots because of styles rather higher resolutions . Mario Landvtitkes had such a different feel, look and character design that I was very disappointed when 3D Land turned out to be the same old thing but in 3D.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Can Exploit Its Rich History With More Remasters

hadrian

Super Mario Allstars is an perfect example of what they should do.

Imagine a nice F-Zero compilation, optimised version of the SNES game plus the two GBA titles (one translated) slap on HD remakes of X, GX (with AX's courses added) and a HD translated version if the 64DD game I'm sure gamers will snap it up...heck they'd take a online version of GX with AX's courses.

Or what about Mario Kart? Even if it's DD, Wii and the three arcade titles it'll sell a lot...it's Mario Kart!

Sure we'd all like new games but I'm amazed how Nintendo hardly bothers with its back catalogues, it can make so much cash to help fund riskier projects with these releases, small teams can deal with them and they wont cost much either. Look at Wind Waker HD, it had something like 6 months in development and has sold close to 1.5 million...easy money, now imagine what Smash Bros, Mario, Mario Kart and even Animal Crossing can make.

Re: Review: Minecraft: Wii U Edition (Wii U eShop)

hadrian

Never got into Minecraft at all but I'll happily buy Terraria again for Wii U and its spiritual successor Starbound...if the PC one is ever finished enough to get a port. Seriously if Starbound didn't delete my save when it updated I'd still be spending way too much time on it.

Re: Super Mario Maker Director Shares Details About the Upcoming Update

hadrian

@Raien I'd love a new Mario Land (not 3D Land) the 2nd one was especially great as it at a lot more variety with enemies, world's etc and they played somewhat differently. When the NX launches I'm sure there'll be another NSMB but I hope they take inspiration from Land as NSMB games lack the variety I liked from the older 2D titles.

Re: Video: Learn About the Intriguing History of Castlevania

hadrian

@johnodaz Nintendo have enough franchises people want to return that won't bring back, I'm sure adding to more to the mix will cause more arseache from fans.

Alternatively, I'd love to see smaller companies take most Konami and Capcom games and pass them on the the indie devs who truly understand what make these games tick.

Re: Microsoft's Phil Spencer "Would Be Happy" To See Nintendo Games On Xbox One

hadrian

Might as well do a "Nintendo indifferent about Microsoft Games on Wii U or NX"...I know I would be. Unlike Nintendo, Microsoft offers nothing other than the same experience s the 3rd party folk can. Sure they have Halo but I've only just learnt there was a Halo 5 out recently, so I guees people are bored with that series already.

Sony on the other hand, they always seem to have devs working on something different. Can you imagine Sony and Nintendo finally working together? Would be unstoppable.

Re: Kirby Stars Alongside Wario and Steamy Strategy in Nintendo of Europe Cyber Deals

hadrian

So yeah, I got Kirby for £13 new a few weeks ago and I held off Wario because even though it was £15 I felt it was too pricey for that game. Btw Kirby is a must have if you can find it for less than £20...which anyone can.

You know what I would paid £23 on? Maybe Bayonetta 2 or Project Frame (who else is gonna buy that now?). I can't see why they haven't done regular downloadable games or Virtual Console titles.

At this stage Nintendo should be doing more for us who have stuck with them.

Re: Feature: A Glimpse Behind the Scenes of FAST Racing NEO - Part One

hadrian

@Xenocity Nintendo may not spend as much as so called "AAA" titles but their stuff mostly is a lot more fun than what Activision/EA pit out AND they're but bug ridden. To me a AAA game is something like Mario 3D World or Zelda and Star Fox certainly fits in there considering the time and effort Nintendo puts in there. Any other publisher would have farted it out to meet the deadline, Nintendo would rather it's developers vision comes through.

Re: Feature: A Glimpse Behind the Scenes of FAST Racing NEO - Part One

hadrian

@Folkloner Honestly I've been happy with Nintendo's out put for the rest of the year. Yoshis Wooly World was a big suprise being quite varied in gameplay and longer than expected, just finished Project Zero, Mario Maker is still getting many hours, there's various eShop titles keeping me busy AND Xenoblade CX is weeks away. A nice variety if titles that have actually kept me away from gaming on PC despite that having some big hitters of late.

Re: Video: A Wii Wave Race Project Got Far Enough to Have Its Own Patents

hadrian

@Minotaurgamer Both GC Pikmin games sold over 1 million copies each on a single console that was my doing very well. Hardly a failure for such a niche title.

Pikmin 3 though, sure it's on a console that's doing worse than the GC but still it should have done better. I can't find any concrete lifetime sales (and I don't trust Vgchartz) but 2013 it was only around 200k for Worldwide sales which is poor.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Release Date Quirks in North America and Europe are Harmful to the Holiday Season

hadrian

To be honest I'm much happier with how things are than they were years ago. I've found NoE to be more in tune with its area than NoA. Without them we probably wouldn't have Xenoblade, Last Story, Pandoras Tower...games NoA had no intention of even touching until NoE did most of the translation work.

Sure there were a few games since the Wii era that the US had but we didn't but nothing on the level of say Earthbound. I can't say my heart aches for Excitebots...but on the whole since the Wii U and 3DS have hit has there been any Nintendo published titles that we've actually yet to have and there aren't release dates for?

Yes we could do with release dates to be more in sync but if it means better, far more faithful localisations than I'll lump the delays.

As for Project Zero...I have no idea why it's called that hear. I was talking about it to a colleague who hadn't heard of it at all and then she said it sounded a lot like this new Fatal Frame game she heard of...I know past games were called PZ but us fans know what it is whereas others dont so the name can do with being the same internationally.

Re: Super Mario Maker Still Leads the Way for Nintendo in the UK as Tri Force Heroes Stumbles

hadrian

Hardly anyone seems that bothered about GH Live, I still think a return for the franchise is too soon. As for it flopping badly on Wii U, well I've hardly seen it anywhere! It takes up far too much shelf space and Disney 2.0/Skylanders/ Lego Dimensions/Amiibos are far more important to retailers...all of which take huge amounts if space, shit I've seen Skylanders Wii around more than even the Xbone GH!

Re: Sega: Recent Sonic Games Haven't Been "Acceptable", Looking To Replicate The Past In Future Outings

hadrian

They should bring platforming back to the games...actually platforming just like in the original MD/CD games. They tried doing 2D titles on DS and also Sonic 4 but essentially they were was just pressing one direction and jumping sometimes which completely misses the point. Yes, he was fast but they made him too fast and now the games are either poorly made 3D games or ones thstvare more like endless runners.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

hadrian

I loved this game on the Amiga and NES but now I dont, its aged badly! Manhatten Project, Hypstone Heist, Turtles In Time and Tournement Fighters were a lot better. TMNT Movie GBA is pretty good beat em up unlike the other recent games.
