Re: Gallery: Unboxing Zelda: Link's Awakening Limited Edition On Switch

hadrian

I didnt love this game, maybe because I've finished it on GB and then GBC and again when that version hit 3DS eShop. I finished it very quickly, the upsides were the visuals...despite framerate issues which I'm very surprised were that bad considering its a Nintendo game. The QOL improvements just made an easiest Zelda title even easier.

Not worth £40 (shop.to is the place to go). You can get 3 excellent eshop titles for that amount. If you're new to this however then may be worth £30. This should have been a budget title.

I wouldnt mind the two Oracle titles redone in this style but if they're going full price I want both on one cart.

Re: Save The Damned City In The Contra: Rogue Corps Switch Demo

hadrian

Plays like a crap early PSOne game. Looks like a early PSOne game running through an emulator where you choose high res. No good, the price put me off originally but the demo has told me to avoid this like the plague.

We can do with a competant publisher buying Konami, firing the in control and take these previously fantastic IPs and give them to developers who know what they're doing.

Re: Super Kirby Clash Is A New Free-To-Play Game Launching On Switch Today

hadrian

Let the mediocre Kirby games continue! We had l this for 3ds, it started off amazing with 2 games and then some nothing Kirby games...sure "free to play" but I'd rather they put the resources in to make something more substantial. I didnt mind the Switch game but after the Wii games, Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot there should have been something so much better for its Switch debut

Re: Aladdin And The Lion King Are Reportedly Being Remastered For Switch

hadrian

Always preferred SNES Aladdin, just had better level design for me and seems more playable now than back then.

The one made by Virgin for MD/Amiga/DOS etc, along with Lion King, I just cant get into nowadays. Just those games that you played a lot as a kid but when you boot them up now you lose interest after 10 minutes.

Re: EA Looking To Bring More Of Its Successful Games To Switch

hadrian

They should do a compilation of their older stuff, they did one for PSP but I dunno if it was well done or not but people would eat up the Strike games, Road Rash, retro sports titles, older Need For Speed and maybe do "remastered" Medal of Honour titles.

There is a lot of untapped potential for when EA were making great games.

Re: Epic Games Opens New Studio With Factor 5 Founders At The Helm

hadrian

Eggebrecht has now the Turrican rights back...though not going to be really that excited until I see what this studio COULD produce and to be honest Factor 5 were way more than these two people plus Factor 5 really went down after the GC era and could hardly get any games off the ground (Kid Icarus, Pilotwings, Superman etc) and the one they did do was the mediocre Lair.

Wait and see.

Re: A Brand New Bubble Bobble Is On The Way From Taito, And It's Exclusive To Switch

hadrian

Looks good and doesnt just look like its the same old games but HD so that is a plus...I kinda wish they would do a proper follow up to Parasol Stars, not the same games but like how Rainbow Islands followed Bubble Bobble and Parasol Stars followed that, I know there is Bubble Symphony but I'd like to see them as Humans again with a new gameplay hook.

I would love a compilation one day! The arcade originals of previous plus, Bubble Bobble Part 2 NES, and then the other ports of those as some had different levels. It's a crime Parasol Stars and Bubble Symphony didnt get as many versions.

Re: Review: Friday the 13th: The Game - Ultimate Slasher Edition - An Asymmetric Multiplayer Gem Worth Hunting Down

hadrian

I had this "free" ( as long as you keep those services) on PSN or Xbox Live or whatever I cannot remember but if you can get it for I dunno...£10? And you'll play this with friends and friends only then yeah sure you can have fun but at that price Hell no, it's really not good enough. It is a pure 5/10 game, poor controls and really feels like a fan game, one by a bunch of inexperience kids and they spent 5+ years on it but they didnt have the experience to test it properly or fix what needed to fix.

I know its been patched since release but I last played it March this year and there were issues.

Re: Review: DOOM II - It's Hell On Earth With This Devilishly Playable Switch Port

hadrian

I remember when this came out and being quite disappointed that it was more of the same. It just felt like one new episode with a few bits added and you had to pay full price for it!

Nowadays I'm more forgiving, for £3.99 you get a lot out of this game but God Dammit Doom 64 felt much more like a sequel and I hope that this possible re-release comes to Switch...there is NO reason for it not to!

Re: Switch Is Getting A New Shooter Based On The Zombieland Movies

hadrian

Not heard High Voltage Software since the Wii years! They did intend on doing AAA titles for it and came up short. The Conduit games were OK enough, then they tried a Left 4 Dead style monster FPS that never got a release and I believe that got turned into a top down twin stick shooter though I cant remember if that came out.

They also did the piss poor Iron Man Wii game too...

Re: Review: Terraria - A Fine Switch Port That’s Missing One Key Ingredient

hadrian

Costs way too much! I bought this on Steam for less than £10 and thats when it wasnt even on sale. I know an absolute ton has been added since but still it costs more than half less elsewhere digitally.

Also this is a game that needs a mouse to. I tried it on Vita, Xbox Games Pass and Android and the controls just dont gel for me. I was actually hoping Chucklefish would bring Starbound (by some of the same people who started Terraria and is a ton better) to the Switch but I guess that would have the same issue.

Re: Story Of Seasons: Friends Of Mineral Town Gets Western Release And New Info

hadrian

Only going by the screens and it looks so half arsed and cookie cutter. The original GBA game many many years onwards had a way better art style than this. This looks like a first gen smartphone game.

Then you have gameplay and it looks like its using the other recent games engine which was functional at best and as much as I loved the original back in the day, Stardew Valley was initially a Harvest Moon knock off at the start of development and then just eclipsed every aspect once it came out and is still the best of its type. It simply did everything better than any HM game so much so I cannot play a single one of them now...aside from Rune Factory. When it comes to Harvest Moon, Marvelous hasnt done anything to the series than make it worse than the old games. They've not even bothered to look at Stardew to see where they can go and how they can improve, hey just do the bare minimum and shovel out a new games every couple of years and just hope the fan base and name recognition sells it. They should really do what ConcernedApe did and spend a few years perfecting it, carry on building on it and then do something new.

Hopefully the next none port Rune Factory has more attention given to it than this.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th July (Europe)

hadrian

It's nice to have a weeks breather, I've abandoned some games because better have come Crash Racing (mainly the damn loading), Bloodstained (waiting for a patch) and even Mario Maker 2 is taking a backseat as I've got into Graveyard Keeper too much...I dont need anything else to distract me.

Re: Review: Graveyard Keeper - Stardew Valley With Rotting Corpses? Not Quite

hadrian

@BitLounger
If it looks like your thing then get it. I've not understood these 6/10 or 7/10 reviews at all. I've been engrossed with this game, had it on Games Pass but I'm stuck with a TV on that however on the Switch it sings! Once you get into the groove of things it all works out and its been a good replacement for Stardew Valley while we wait for that next update. I never thought I'd be ignoring Mario Maker 2 for this game.

Re: Nintendo Download: 27th June (Europe)

hadrian

Spent way too much time with Graveyard Keeper. It's a very grindy game but like with Stardew Valley (but even nearly as good) you get into a rhythm and its a great game to take your mind of things.

Bloodstained hasnt gripped me but that could also be because of the performance issues so best wait for a patch.

Terraria...just too late of a release for me. Had on PC when it first came out, great game but I did play it on my Vita and the none mouse/keyboard controls didnt click with me and £24?? I'm pretty sure I paid under a tenner when it came out on PC several years ago!

Of course Mario Maker 2 may be the one that just takes over my Switch and poor Crash Team Racing may stay in the backlog, doesnt help that that game has cheap AI and poor load time.

Re: SolSeraph Is The ActRaiser Spiritual Successor You've Been Praying For

hadrian

To quote Belle & Sebastian "nobody writes them like they used to so it might as well be us".

Squeenix dont seem to care about their old IPs that arent Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Mana so go ahead Sega, do modern versions. While you're at it an open world version of EVO: Search for Eden? Maybe some of the ones you haven't bothered to do yet? Ristar? Dont let Sonic Team do it though...Wayforward? come on!

Re: Original Banjo-Kazooie Team "Pleased" About Duo's Return, But Unsure A New Game "Would Sell"

hadrian

Just shows how out of touch this person is, especially after all the talent has left. Yooka Laylee has done very well, Luckys Tale has done very well and A Hat in Time has done very well...but whatever I guess they are busy adding stuff to their mediocre pirate game and developing games that will get cancelled.

I'm not fussed if we get a new game or not, never really got into Rare platformers and they are full of backtracking and item collecting that are purely there to pad the game out but there is a need from gamers to see these return

Re: Random: The Internet Predicted The Switch Back In 2005, Kinda

hadrian

Well it is kinda an obvious idea, I thought of it myself as the Gamecube looled to be a flop but their handhelds went strong so i thought a hand that plugged into the TV would be the best option for Nintendo purely on that basis. Of course back then it wouldnt be as even the N-Gage could just about do PSX games and gamers wouldnt accept that then. Of course now HD haming has come a long way to at least look good enough while being affordable
