Classic open world racing title Burnout Paradise has apparently received a classification rating for Switch in Brazil.
The listing - which has since been removed - also mentions possible Xbox One and PS4 editions, which would hint at a forthcoming remaster project. The game originally launched on PS3, Xbox and PC back in 2008 and is widely regarded as the pinnacle of the (now dormant) Burnout series.
Interestingly, a Brazilian retailer listed Burnout Paradise for Xbox One and PS4 release yesterday. Coincidence? Foul play? You decide, and when you've done that, be sure to post a comment.
Burnout Paradise on the go. Please Santa, we've been awful good this year.

I've yet to play one of those games.
Switch just keeps getting better and better!
I loved Burnout Paradise on the PS3 and I'd be all for having it on the go but lack of analogue triggers of the Switch would probably put me off.
I'd gladly let it take me down to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty, all over again.
Especially if it leads to a revival of the series. :3
Oh man, all the memories of playing Burnout 3 back in the day!!! Please bring Paradise to Switch!
I have no doubts that if this happens the soundtrack will be different to the original. Some songs in there that I'm pretty sure would be very difficult to license nowadays like Paradise City and Girlfriend.
My absolute favorite racing game (not counting kart racers, of course), on my favorite current system? Oh man!
OMG!! I absolutely adored this game on the PS3 put hundreds of hours into it. Please let this rumor be true will buy as soon as I can!
Instant buy. This game is SO good! Put in several hundred hours on PS3 and would again on Switch.
I only ever played the psp one. What was this one like?
I wonder if they can still use the license for Paradise City, and more importantly that Avril Levigne song.
@AG_Awesome It set the blueprint for open world racers, and hasn't really been bettered or built upon that much.
NFS Most Wanted on Wii U was awesome.
I love this as well.
Do both while you're there, I mean every other Wii U title is getting re released so why not.
@Grumblevolcano @penfold007 never had issues playing on PC without analouge triggers.
For Paradise City song the would fix the license for sure, that song is almost bound to the whole game.
@penfold007 U are joking, right ? What do U need analogs in game like burnout ? Always pedal to the metal!!!
To even think of EA funding a new Burnout or a collection from 1 to revenge when Arcade racing games were crazy and not trying to be complete bore's like Forza Horizon or Driveclub with this fake sense of realism seems so odd to be true.
Nah...
EA doesn't actually release good games anymore, and certainly not on Switch.
If it isn't multiplayer only, mandatory online or chock to the hilt with loot boxes... they don't want anything to do with it.
If they only release this in Brazil I think they have some explaining to do.
Where does it mention Switch? Does anyone have a link to the website?
Why couldn't have been the good Burnout games?
@SimplyCinnamon53
https://theenemy.com.br/playstation/burnout-paradise-vai-sair-para-ps4-xbox-one-e-switch-sugere-classificacao-indicativa
At the end of that article there is a image showing all platforms including switch.
@JayJ It wont be released only here, probabily the classind (its like the brazilian ESRB) just published it online by mistake and the game its through rating worldwide.
I'd buy it. Port Burnout 3 and Revenge while you're at it.
I'm not interested in the PS4 version at all, but I'd totally be down for a switch release.
Why the heck Nintendo games keeps being rated on Brazil even though Nintendo doesn't exist here?
This would be pretty cool.....if EA doesn't screw it up. Let's not lock certain modes behind a paywall or lock unlockable cars in a lootcrate.
Someone’s hacked the Brazil ratings site and be trolling
Burnout 3 Takedown. Remade, remastered, whatever it takes.
My least favorite Burnout of them all. Takedown and Revenge are my favorites. I will hope this does well, as to open the floodgates for the aforementioned titles. Their set up was perfect.
Pick a place.
Pick a race.
Pick a car.
GO!
Had a blast just burning around the city on this one. The actual racing, sadly, is pretty slight.
I like Burnout but not Paradise, Burnout 3 is better. Open world racing is not fun at all.
I think Need for speed most wanted on the Vita is a better version of Burnout Paradise, it's basically an upgraded game also made by Criterion but published by EA.
You might want to fix something here ... "The game originally launched on PS3, Xbox One and PC back in 2008".
I'd be far more excited if it was any of the good ones, I.e.the ones that aren't open world-Forza Horizon is untouchable when it comes to that kind of thing. From the original to Revenge it was a brilliant series. Proper Arcade racing.
If EA doesn't make it crumble (they haven't ruined Burnout yet and this would basically be a remaster) this would be my go-to driving game on Switch.
But didn't EA kill off the Burnout series years ago??
Though I love the Burnout series from Criterion, I still say f**k EA. It's because of them that the Burnout series never came out on Nintendo consoles after the GameCube. Burnout 1 & 2 were awesome when Acclaim and Criterion released them for all systems during the PS2-Dreamcast-GameCube days but since EA acquired Criterions after Acclaim's bankruptcy, we never got any future Burnout titles for any Nintendo system. If this news is true, I'll gladly buy it again to support Criterion just like I did Need For Speed: Most Wanted U but if Criterion has nothing to do with this game, EA can go suck it.
This would make me so happy. NFS:MW on the WiiU was a huge let down with its 2 crappy camera angles. Great game, impossible for me to play.
I refuse to believe any rumor since we will end up without Dark Souls, Soul Calibur 6 and One Piece new game.
Namco is bipolar I swear. They are like: "the Switch is doing great and we want to release games". Also them: "Here are a bunch of new games none for Switch".
And yes, I know this is EA but to be honest that makes it worst.
This would be fantastic news - loved it on 360 and a portable remaster would be awesome.
@JJ286 Bandai Namco press announcement is later today though, right? Gotta to wait to see what they say before judging I'd say but you are likely correct that they won't give us what we want - we can keep dreaming until then.

I own the steam version of Burnout Paradise but I prefer NfS. Can't imagine playing this without analog though.
@RETRO_J "on Xbox One, Xbox Two, Xbox Three... and all the other three hundred and fifty-seven Xboxes"
@koekiemonster you mean, as a fan? Yes.
Got it for free on Xbox Live last year. Might check it out there to look if it's worth double-dipping for on Switch.
Some say that Criterion's later NFS Most Wanted 2012 had a lot in common with this one. I liked that game quite a bit, so colour me in the market here. If EA is porting its Gen 7 racers, maybe I'll live to see The Run and Hot Pursuit, too.
Considering Burnout Paradise is one of my favorite driving games ever, I'm totally down with this on Switch but I've got major fears considering what EA has become. IF this is a 100% fully featured and upgraded version of the original and includes everything on cartridge (disc for other consoles) including ALL DLC, they've got my money day one. BUT...if they try and force us to rebuy DLC separately (ala Modern Warfare Remastered) and find some BS way to force in microtransactions or lootboxes (special cars or skins for example), EA can shove the game squarely up their A$$. Sorry to get a little graphic but we all know that the odds are high that the modern "games as service" EA would absolutely try something like that for this 10 year old classic. Especially since they saw Activision do it with the 10 year old Modern Warfare. Here's hoping EA actually does good by the fans but I am fully prepared to just continue enjoying it on my 360.
I played this a lot on PS3, now I can play it on the go.
Sign me up if true.
The game looks great, just one problem: EA.
i'll wait for a review before deciding if this is a worth of the money.
eep!!
I've admired the Burnout series from afar for years, but the last one on a Nintendo console, if memory serves, was a rather sucky one on the original DS released way back during the launch period, I believe, in 2005, which I passed on due to overwhelmingly negative reviews.
Oh god don't do this to me. Seriously. I know EA are releasing Switch games and everything but that doesn't mean this is coming and it didn't have loot boxes so this can't be real.
Oh who am I kidding..... I WANT TO BELEIVE!
Well, heck. I'm always in for Burnout. After Outrun, it's my favourite racing series.
Damn, the Switch is steadily becoming a portable PS3 (in addition to all the wonderful new games) and I love it.
I was sad there were no plans for a new VITA, so yay
I loved Burnout Revenge but never had chance to play Paradise, this would be the perfect chance to catch up and even better on Switch.
Loved this game on ps3, back when EA let Criterion make great games.
I love the Burnout series, but Paradise was unfortunately not for me. I would be all over Burnout Revenge though. Which reminds me, Microsoft better take the opportunity to make the original trilogy backwards compatible on Xbox One next year, or I would be severely disappointed.
Think it a good possibility that this will end up being true.
@Oubie That’s one of my favourite racing titles of all time. The soundtrack, controls, pacing.... It was all spot-on.
Now with added loot crate fun!!!
I jest..... Or do I?
Don’t do it, EA.
@penfold007 Ya know, I thought this would bug me too with Rocket League... but it really doesn't. RL's arcade-y controls work just fine without fine throttling, even though I'd spent 150+ hours playing RL using an Xbox 360 controller (on PC).
If I recall Burnout Paradise correctly, it too is rather arcade-y in it's controls and gameplay, so I'm guessing it'll do just fine without analog triggers.
I absolutely loved this on the PS3 so I would be interested. Although it would have to either have some amazing new features or not be a full retail price
The reason I mention the price is that I could pick up the original xbox 360 version for about £3 on Amazon and play it on my Xbox one S though backward compatibility
I remember playing Burnout on the Gamecube. Must have been Burnout 2. Loved it.
Looks enticing.
If only EA hadn't bought Criterion and ruined them, if this comes out on any format intact it'll be a miracle but a very welcome one
Burnout Paradise was terrible, and I’m a big Burnout fan. Multiplayer turned out to be only online multiplayer. And you could never come home and have a quick race - you had to drive around and find one????
As its an EA property, its not so much wondering if they will screw up but how badly.
An open world game with online components and competitive gameplay; thats just crying to be monetised in their eyes.
@deejaayy I'm just down because I was super excited when Bamco announced Soul Calibur 6 only to have my dreams crush at the end of the trailer when they announce the platforms. Then One Piece new Open World game hits and same story and both games were rumor for the Switch.
just got burnout for my gamecube last week, BO takedown was my fav burnout, never had the chance to play this, so many ports of games I have not playd, love it!
Wonder what stuff they'll cut from the original release to sell as DLC and/or inclusion of lootboxes.
Not trusting this to be an unscaved normal remaster. Quite surprised this would even be a thing as EA continue to pretend Burnout never exsisted.
Superb, but for me I'd be much happier them remastering Burnout 2, you know, before the series got all loud, shouty and aggressive...all EA basically.
A personal favourite, day one for me if it ever happens.
But the switch isn't available on Brazil yet. (had to import mine)
I'd pay a LOT of money for Burnout 1 - 4. Greatest Arcade racers ever. I could never get into Burnout Paradise, I didn't like the open world and the 'outside car' view was way to low.
NAH BRAH!.... Burnout Revenge was PEAK!
Oh good God YES. I had Burnout 2 on Cube and it was one of my favourite ever games. Also loved Need for Speed on Wii U which I think was by some of the same guys? Anyway, really hope this happens!
Never got into the game myself but it'll be great for some to see it reissued and maybe its a sign that EA are looking to bring the series back especially as the NFS series has forgettable entries each year...I didnt even know one just came out!
Now a collection of the Burnout games before would be very tasty!
Why can't Criterion just stick to Burnout?
I would love to play this again on switch, big surf island was next level fun jumping the bridge gap with friends.
Hopefully EA getting their fingers burned with BF2 prevents them locking cars behind lootcrates, just give us all the goodies, cops n robbers, dlc cars and big surf island as one solid purchase.
That would be sick!!! DO IT!!!!
Instabuy if it actually means it's coming to the Switch
Yes, please. I would gladly buy the older titles as well.
@Savino Exactly.
Did everyone forgot that Nintendo dropped support for the Brazilian market a while back?
Omg yes please! Best driving game ever!
I LOVE the burnout series, but I couldn't get into paradise at all. The series just doesn't go well with open world in my opinion. You need a set course, as there's nothing worse then getting most of the way through a race just to make one bad turn, and have to find your way back to the starting line.
Hot air, ain't happening. EA aren't really interested in switch, I don't expect much support from them
@koekiemonster Mind your language.
I remember playing Burnout 1 and 2 on the Gamecube and Burnout 3 on the Playstation 2. Burnout 3 was my favourite but never managed to have a go on Paradise. This would be good if it came to Switch.
As excited as I want to be, Paradise was the worst. It had nothing I liked from the games leading up to it, especially the change from high speed chaos inducing focused courses in a pseudo open city to a straight up Midnight Club style open city. Some people like it, but if I want to play a checkpoint based open world racer, I'll play GTA5.
Remaster Takedown or Revenge and then I'll be excited. Or make a new one in the style of the original games. I might even be excited for a sequel to Paradise if it's done right. (I will admit one thing I did like from Paradise was the damage modelling and some of the different cars were gorgeous.)
Burnout 3 is the ONLY one that I want.
I have it on my 360 and still love it. i did get paradise on ps3 i think and it was fine but i'm kinda done with open worlds (and sprite art to be honest but that off topic ).
i'd still probably pick this up if it ran well portable and looked good. i like my switch but it's SCREAMING for a 2 year upgrade cycle (IF N stops hating the internet/logins and lets me just buy a switch 2 and download all my games without jumping through hoops; maybe that'll never happen).
Didn't EA mention a while back that they didn't do remasters. Maybe with all the negativity around them at the moment, now would be a good time to release 'fan fave collections' to get them back on side.
It was or is the greatest open world arcade racer. Ok you have no licensed cars and bikes, but the open City with ist sorrounding areas is nearly perfect. You have a lot to discover. And everything is composed so good together, that every part of the city is fun to drive .
@wazlon So how was Burnout 3? I only own and play Burnout 1 & 2 as I only got the GameCube back then and never got to try Burnout 3 not to mention it was the first Burnout game EA published and was the first one not to be released on the GameCube.
This was my favourite Burnout. It’s a shame what EA did to the dev, first forcing them to make Need For Speed games, which have been crap since Most Wanted 2005, but then closing them down. EA should have let them create why they were good at.
When Paradise came out, my late girlfriend and I would spend many hours playing it together, so it holds a special place in my heart.
thats like they release GTA but decide to port GTA1 or the chinatown thingy... why not a real burnout?
@Zefirka What are you on about, Paradise is the best Burnout game.
WHAT.
Burnout Paradise is my second favourite game of all time after Super Mario 64. If this is true and we get a release here in the UK I might actually just die from pure joy. 😐
@retro_player_22
it was the best imo. i didn't care for takedown (was that the first 360 title??)?
it just worked and worked great. plus it was an xb1/ps2 era game iirc so that would work swimmingly on a switch.
@Hughesy maybe if you are 10 and didnt grow up with good consoles like PSP, PS2 or NGC which had the real burnout games on them....
I think you meant, 'awfully good'
Make it happen EA, this was one of your good games.
Loved it back then, but my ps3 broke down. Day 1 for me!
@Zefirka What? I’m 33, played all Burnout games, and Paradise is the best imo. The rest are just average arcade racers, but Paradise is very unique, or was when it came out.
IF it comes out on switch I shall buy it.
OMG OwO.... I 103% Burnout Paradise on both my PS3 and Xbox 360, haven't gotten back to it on my PC but this is one one of my favorite racing/car/open world games.
@sword_9mm "it was the best imo. i didn't care for takedown (was that the first 360 title??)?"
Takedown was Burnout 3. It was only on Xbox and PS2. The 360 one is BC for the original xbox version.
@retro_player_22
Burnout 3 was the weakest of the non-open world Burnout games IMHO (though still better than Paradise). A bit unfocused and overloaded with numbers on screen. Lost a bit of the purity of 2, which was and still is utterly glorious.
@AshFoxX
gotcha. yeah the bc version is what i have. i bought (revenge maybe; the first actual xb360 version) and didn't care for it at all.
@Kalmaro I played the first one on the GameCube. It was pretty awesome.
@Koudai1979 oh? Looking forward to the next game then if we get it!
Burnout 3 Remastered for Nintendo Switch please!
@retro_player_22 Sorry for the delay. Burnout 3 was awesome, quite an improvement on Burnout 2 with lots more to do. The game just felt much more exciting (the sense of speed was amazing) and I remember not being able to put it down. There's also a kind of radio station going on at the start of each race which adds nicely to the atmosphere.
I think Burnout 3 was the first to include the 'takedown' feature which rewarded you for causing other racers to crash.
You can get it on PS2 and Xbox really cheap if you still have one, I highly recommend it.
Vai Brasil!
I'd totally triple dip on it (Xbox-PC) but this time on the Switch.
YES PLEASE! A real racing game like NFS, Forza or Burnout would be more than welcome on the Switch as there is basically nothing. Don't start me on Thumper, Fast RMX, Redout or Gear.Club Unlimited lol
