I expect nothing less from a game that makes worldwide news. That helps more than any brand power could. The Pokemon name just ensured that it would establish a base worldwide audience. Mario Run will do the same, but unless it manages to crash cars and get people robbed (which only the media likes), and also fight childhood obesity and promote social gatherings, it won't be nearly as successful.

@MitchVogel Maybe they think this will bring the hype back? Seems unlikely though.

Disappointing. I wanted the first NX to be awarded to one of 5 lucky children that get to tour the factory.

The Wii U never had a big reveal...at least, I don't remember seeing or even hearing about one and I bought one within 6 months of release. Nintendo seems to be going in another direction this time since the Wii U has been an underperformer. They want to let the hype build as much as possible to guarantee the NX stays on the radar.

It's becoming obvious that ending club nintendo was a budget cut to their most loyal fans. Bad move Nintendo.

Having never played a Metroid game other than Hunters (I know, I know) I might pick this one up. I could care less about sticking with a protagonist if the game is still good.

@PiplupJ NICE. I'm pretty sure they only "admitted" to cheating when the info was leaked. Clearly they don't want that happening again (the leak, not the massive scam).

It'll be NX. Looks too good for the old 3ds, but the new 3ds might be able to run this.

Nintendo needs a new gaming platform, not just a console. It seems obvious at this point that the NX will mix console, portable, and mobile gaming in SOME way. Their IPs have officially proven they can dominate all 3 markets.

Nintendo is too busy making sure no one knows what they're planning to do to make games.

So it's a mix between a sea cucumber and a mantis shrimp...

I think they should do an ambassador-like program where you can get a few select Gamecube VC titles for free if you buy the system within the first few months. IMO that would give us an incentive to buy at launch without Nintendo throwing money away.

I can't blame them for branching out and trying new elements over the years. The original Sonic was simple, but inventive at the time. Updating that concept to modern standards can go in many different directions. It seems like everyone has their own favorite Sonic game that they want to see continued (or at least parts of it). It appears the goal this time around is to finally combine those favorite elements. This isn't another contribution to the Sonic cycle simply because it's what fans have said they want.

I think Nintendo would rather have a flavor-of-the-month mega hit on mobile than a consistent underachiever like the Wii U. Prepare to see a change in company strategy. I foresee another NX delay because of this 😕

There's obviously some jealousy there. But it takes more than just a concept like AR to sell a game. Pokemon has an unrivaled history and can make nearly anything marketable.

Luring players and ambushing them? That's unfortunate. Not watching where you're walking/driving? Your own fault.

At least the game is encouraging exercise. You can't help human nature, but it seems the app has had a mostly positive effect.

The market has changed since the movement toward downloads. Indie developers are able to profit from the "consumable" gaming trend and offer more affordable prices to match the size and quality of their games. Why should I pay a set price of $60 for a game when I can get one that's half the length but just as fun off the eshop for 10-15? He can't blame us for shopping smart!

Having a second handheld screen to use while my kid/wife use the tv was what allowed me to continue console gaming in my adult years. I need it to at least be an option in order for me to own an NX.

Of course Nintendo can build a console more powerful than xbox. The reason why they do not want to is what makes them Nintendo.

Getting lost means very little to me without surprises. If Nintendo is truly taking LoZ into a new age and not just introducing a new open-world gimmick, they need to consistently surprise us. When I'm well into the game, instead of thinking "oh look, another shrine" I want to still be wondering what is waiting for me. At times I want to forget that I'm playing as Link but be reminded by the end credits why this series has shaped my love of gaming. Open worlds mean nothing if they are still repetitive.

The story in Codename S.T.E.A.M. was awful. But the gameplay itself was awesome.

I bought it at launch and loved it until it started glitching out. I can't get through the 3rd world and after 10+ freezes at different spots that needed hard resets, I'm not playing it again until it's fixed.

When you know the uploader will obviously beat the level but your heart stops a few times anyway...
