There are plenty of scumbag companies in all industries that do this. The good news is that the more the public knows about it, the less likely the companies are to get away with it.
SEGA: "Time for another Sonic game! Let's throw 3 darts at the board to see what the enemies/setting/theme will be." New intern: "Wait! The fans don't want that again!" throws 100 darts at once SEGA: GASP
Whether this ends up being the Mario game we try not to remember or Mario's BOTW, it proves that Nintendo is more than willing to shake up its biggest franchises to win us back. I tip my hat, sirs.
Somewhere at my dad's house I have an old binder with all the original basic packs that were made by Wizards of the Coast. I should probably find them...
Nintendo certainly ramped up their marketing at the Target by my house. The decorative "balls" out front had Mario and Luigi covers on them and the buggies were decorated to look like mario-karts.
I live a couple hours south of Orange Park in Florida.
1. There is a giant inflatable gorilla in front of a tire store 3 minutes from my house. 2. Florida is the crazy state, seeing as it hosts most of the U.S.A.'s senior citizens and also plenty of rednecks in the northern part of the state, which is jokingly referred to as L.A. (lower Alabama). 3. Florida is a HUGE tourism state, so the upscale communities pretend they have giant homeowners associations to prevent anything considered "tacky" by residents.
Played this morning and watched a moblin look for his weapon and then pick up and throw a bokoblin at me instead. When he landed he looked back and yelled like WTF MAN. Hilarious.
The open world was nice, but not essential for success. As long as they keep the physics, I'll be happy. I will NEVER go back to the old physics engines.
Gamers won't typically care about the lack of streaming apps. The "casual" audience that Nintendo wants to pull back in from the Wii era, however, does care and always will.
The family scenario and the person-playing-alone-but-sometimes-in-public scenario are still the only realistic ones. They could show a children's birthday party, but I doubt Nintendo wants that image tied to the Switch.
I agree with the welcomed speed increase. Fragments of the Forgotten Past was excellent but between the poorly-planned menus and frustrating quest triggers, it was painfully slow.
This was just the result of our two-party system starting to crumble. The media painted him as some radical because he has no political experience. He's actually moderate and really only cares about the economy. Are there big changes coming? Probably not.
I remember reading articles that said the gamepad would have been better as just an add-on for the Wii. I thought that was a stupid idea at the time. In hindsight, it would have been so much more profitable.
Spot on. He's just covering. The Switch is another attempt to carve a new gaming niche just like the Wii. If it turns out like the Wii U, they'll have the 3ds to fall back on.
I used to be a manager at a call center (dead end job) and on Fridays we used to have a Wii and let the agents take turns playing in between calls. So on my last day I brought in my Wii U that I had just bought in March 2013. I set it up on this huge tv on the wall that normally scrolled company messages. The agents loved it and I realized Nintendoland was an awesome game when you could get a large group together. Funny thing, most of the agents were in their 20s and had no idea that the Wii U existed...
After the Wii U, they don't trust Nintendo to produce a console with more than one defining feature. They saw the video and categorized the Switch under "gaming tablet". I have to admit, I'm skeptical too, but I buy Nintendo systems for the games. Portability may diversify that experience, but for me personally it won't matter much. We just have to trust that by intending to "revolutionize gaming" Nintendo didn't just mean the ability to take their newest console to a park.
I'm in the U.S. and I got the email a week after my birthday this month. Looks like EU got the better games. The ones on my list are:

Mario Kart 7 New Super Mario Bros 2 Kirby Triple Deluxe Super Smash Bros 3DS Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Puzzle & Dragons Z + SMB

Isn't that what the backers wanted? A nostalgic rehash? Other than the Wii U backers of course, who just want what they paid for at this point.

@Gregory123 Of course.
It would make a less generic LOZ storyline though. Link and Zelda with an established romance and a child on the way? I like it.
