@Noelemahc they've otherwise been quite complimentary about it. There's no conspiracy here, just a screen that under test conditions shows areas where Nintendo cut corners to hit a price point but with 120hz/VRR/HDR.
Most people aren't likely going to notice the slow response time but it doesn't mean it isn't there.

@gb_nes_gamer Im sure they will, they already have two games out. My only pause is if their is value in them doing a big drop of back catalogue. RE9 looks like it could run on Switch 2 as we know RE engine is running well for SF6, if that happens do they want to cannibalise sales by dropping 2,3,4,7,& 8 in one go.
I'm sure they'll want Monster Hunter too. Could be they space it out a bit more.

I’d love to know if games like this will get basic patches for Switch 2. Obviously the Switch is more than capable of running it, but would be good to get 1080P handheld/4K docked

@SBandy1 in fairness I’ve had a fair few first party games that are still v1.0.0 although most of those will get updates for Switch 2 compatibility!

@spottedleaf it should map to the Switch controller it has the same buttons. Whether that maps to the original GC controls I don’t know.

@mariomaster96 I thought that as it didnt seem great, but looks a lot better in the Today app.

Are there more Pokemon in the overworld too? Seems like this is now the game it should have been a few years back.

I don’t think S2 launching the day before SGF starts was an accident. I fully expect to see several new games announced across the various shows. Including a Nintendo Direct(although that will mostly be dates for already announced games)

Dave Perry will love that rewind feature.

About what you'd expect, you would hope that Game Freak are working on something for the next mainline game. They will save any major improvements for that. And even for that they will want a big install base.

@Vectrex because someone has to do the work. I’d be surprised if other games particularly third party don’t see a fair few updates. It depends on the developer though and how easy it is to update. Something like No Man’s Sky I’d expect to be updated as it has been well supported throughout its life cycle, hopefully Minecraft will get the new visual upgrade on Switch 2 as well

@LegendOfStewart I’m hoping that while it isn’t increased it comfortably sits at 30 rather than dipping in busy areas.

@Jeronan I don’t think they have, I genuinely think we will either see a paid upgrade for 2 with mouse support and wonder levels or as you said a new release with 3D which would need a mouse to be usable.
If they didn’t care it would be a free upgrade like Game Builder Garage

Pikmin and Mario Maker its such a fundamental change they will likely hold onto it for a sequel or paid update.

I really hope they add the vibrant visuals to Switch (2?)

@Duncanballs yeah that’s why I was thinking a price drop after having given SW2 time to get a following. I think a bigger problem would be production being cheap enough to achieve a cheap lite model.

If they could find a way to get a £99/$99 Switch out there in a year or so's time once the S2 is established and hopefully the Tariffs are gone. Could see them easily topping the PS2.

@Grumblevolcano tbf to Square im fairly sure they did a multi disc release for the PS5 version of rebirth with the whole game. So hopefully they do the same here.

@-wc- I think its probably more designed in a way that N can easily change these parts and the stick bases for easy custom joycons that keep the sleek black look.

@The-Chosen-one the two LoZ games are free with NSO+. Kirby and Mario Party have DLC too.
They could have included the S2 upgrade with NSO and had a DLC only option but that would get confusing.

I dont think their plans for S2 upgrades is too bad, some stuff is paid some on NSO and some free.

@JohnnyMind I’m the same, not necessarily my jam unless it reviews really well. But what I do like is the start of indies that wouldn’t be feasible on S1 start to be announced for the new console.

Looking forward to seeing how many Switch 2 logos appear in the Xbox Showcase. I was surprised to only see THPS3+4 in the Direct. Hopefully we will see some others before then.

FWIW I think splitting up the MCC would be a mistake, but it would make an ideal candidate for the game key cart as you will want to pick and choose what games you have installed.

@Jedge396 you should be ok, in essence you purchased it from frasers group who are still operating they just sold it under the Game brand name.

@HammerKirby I think in part it’s just Nintendo pulling back the curtain and being transparent how many games are physical but not containing the whole game and require a download, but in doing so offers a cheaper option to manufacturers that is more desirable than a code in a box(I’m hoping this isn’t an option at all).
I’m a physical collector too so can’t say it’s my preferred approach but we have to be pragmatic unfortunately.

@Flugen code in a box is pointless, its an empty box with no additional value the second you start playing. If you want fully digital you can still buy it on the eshop.
This option at least gives the ability to resell or share with others.

@StewdaMegaManNerd I’m fine with it being a physical collector. I expect something that has a manufacturing stage to cost more, as long as the physical has a nice look and feel to it and ideally a manual!

@Oracles_fanboi Nintendo have no control over what retailers do regarding preventing scalpers so maybe a big part of that will be limiting how much goes to retailers and Nintendo selling more directly which they can control.

When you break it down they're not really saying anything beyond, you need the new console to play this. If they have as leaked 20m Switch 2 units over the launch window, and MK9 is a launch title the attach rate will be higher than the 45% MK8 is on Switch. So you're talking 10m+ copies in the first year which probably put it just behind GTAVI this year. I doubt Nintendo will be too upset by that.

While it would be great from a consumer perspective to promote what is left to be released on Switch 1 and provide some reassurance that it will be supported. From a business perspective the messaging that you don't need to upgrade to Switch 2 right away isn't the best idea.

@RaTheGrey well I'm hoping this would set a precedent that recent games at least get this as a free upgrade. Which sadly isnt very Nintendo.

@Anti-Matter likely won’t boost but could say get BotW running with AI upscaling at 60fps. Jury’s out on if it would be 1080P or 4K!

@robotreptile Ninja Five-O is a bit of a hidden gem and one of those stupidly expensive things to collect if you're a GBA collector.
They are probably trying to capitalise on that and it will be down to a few £ in no time

The biggest one which no one has mentioned is Fortnite. I don’t play it but assume switch players are at a disadvantage to those on PC when it comes to building?

@Servbot_EJ I think this is a nailed on release. id Tech is pretty flexible. But it will be telling for MS if they need a third party to port it for them.

@N00BiSH they(MS) let toys for bob go as a separate entity and then signed a deal with them to develop one of their IP. I’m hoping it’s this, and seeing as Xbox is now primarily a software dev there’s a good chance they will stick it on Switch 2!

@PinballBuzzbro I'd be happy if it was AC:Shadows at least close to launch. But if it's some time in 2026 when we've all already forgotten about it whats the point.
Overall though its a shame if Ubi cant realise their best outings are games that are made with devices like the Switch at least partly in mind rather than the shallow graphical showpieces they churn out for the main consoles.

@sixrings I bought what I see as the same game on 3DS for £8 the other day. Seems hard for them to justify the cost for this "HD" version.

@Mothertroid its the initial teaser so probably 2-3 minutes with a name and release. We will see games but we wont get until after is the Direct style look into games, if the launch is April/May we wont have to wait long for it. Looking back the launch trailer for Switch had at least 4 games in it so we should get a good idea of the key launch games.
