Re: Poll: Is E3 Still Relevant To Nintendo In 2020?

elpardo1984

I think Nintendo has the right balance with regards to E3. An extended direct so everyone gets to see everything you would in a stage show like MS does but in about a third of the time.
You then get a whole host of treehouse streams to go in depth on games peaking your interest.

Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

elpardo1984

This doesn’t seem unreasonable, the drip fed NES games seemed to garner more derision than praise so not far fetched to see why they want to change it. They’ve just dropped 20 in one go I don’t see why it’s necessary to add more right now or a month from now. I expect it will be themed drops timed with other releases etc probably next one will be around Christmas.

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 4th September

elpardo1984

@wollywoo I mean it says they are looking at 2019 games so not sure we will see any new Mario/Zelda outside of whats announced for this year. Although they did hint at some sort of Sunshine/Odyssey remake/DLC in that tweet, so you never know!
But the main focus will be cementing the release dates up until Xmas.

The Mario Maker DLC (additional game styles perhaps) could be a nice surprise.

I expect a few surprise 3rd party games(AC: Black Flag, Overwatch) and release dates for things like GRID that don't have one yet but are known.

And for the love of whichever deity you may believe in please give us SNES games!

Re: Feature: Where Does Nintendo Switch Fit In The PS5 And Xbox Project Scarlett Next-Gen War?

elpardo1984

@Priceless_Spork I agree I love the switch I’ve no drive to go for a more powerful console. And I like owning my games.

I think the switch has positioned itself as the alternative no need to worry about what MS/Sony are doing in terms of new consoles. That being said they won’t release for another year at least and adoption will be slow at such a high price (particularly if the UK and the US are in a recession which some have forecast) if a pro isn’t announced by then it will be on the horizon.

@RasandeRose this is so true, the cost to gain ratio goes up exponentially. So many games I’ve not played on those older generations as well as some I’ve loved I’m happy to see them come onto Switch as well as all of the new games will keep me occupied for years to come.
With what’s coming out this year alone will keep me busy until summer!

Re: Switch SNES Controller Confirmed, Nintendo Switch Online SNES Games Next?

elpardo1984

@dystome no indication of what this controller will do. The filing only has the back(for the fcc label). So time will tell hopefully it would be something more than a SNES only controller.
One would though that it will be a copy of the original in which case you’re right the 8bitdo would be better for most people. Although it would be a nice thing to have.

Re: Switch Owners Choose To Play EA Games On Other Platforms, Says Company CEO

elpardo1984

@NintendoFan4Lyf I get what you’re saying I was glad too and bought Fifa 19 although found it largely underwhelming. Personally(and this is just my opinion) there’s no reason they couldn’t develop a better and more engaging game(as it will be a different dev team anyway) with more features than updated teams in comparison to previous years. I’m not really interested in the journey mode but would have loved the Volta mode on the switch no reason they couldn’t have made that in the modified ignite engine. Or just put out a completely different game that’s called Volta(basically Fifa street) which is more multiplayer focused. There’s even the ability for DLC as they could make it Ultimate team style and charge for different players.

Re: Is This Our First Real Look At Nintendo Switch Mini?

elpardo1984

@Jester151 Thats the pro/XL/, it will come but needs a title to launch alongside it and cant see at the moment what they would launch alongside it(as in a big Nintendo system seller not a port) that would have a noticeable difference in graphics than other switch models other than maybe either Bayonetta or Metroid P4. The former could work and may be why they are tight lipped about it so far.

Re: Is This Our First Real Look At Nintendo Switch Mini?

elpardo1984

@Damo Ah fair enough I didnt realise it was a proprietary connector assumed it was some form of USB.

@60frames-please I think you're right if they get it right. As long as they position it is a kids/secondary model (and dont give it any functionality that the Switch original doesnt have). From a marketing perspective they dont want people moaning that they are having to buy all of these extras, so it needs to be clear this is for you if you dont want/neex those features. ie for kids who just want to play Fortnite and Pokemon and are on an upgrade path from the handhelds not the physical consoles or a multi device household where you already have the dock/joy-cons available.

Re: Is This Our First Real Look At Nintendo Switch Mini?

elpardo1984

@Damo in fairness a lot of companies keep the costs down by not including a charger/psu these days as if its using USB power the assumption is you already have one. Big N and Sony did the same thing with the mini consoles and things like the Kindle or Chromecast dont have them either.

Making a device that fundamentally changes its functionality(no joy con sharing, not table top, no motion controls, additional controller needed for docked play) is a bit different. Even compared to the 3DS>2DS your taking away a universal feature that doesnt really affect gameplay not making certain games unplayable(at least without buying additional hardware)

That being said I dont think its out of the realms of possibility that they would do this but the cost savings for the consumer would need to be significant enough to make it worthwhile.

If they do go down this road I'd love to see them expand the functionality for party/group/active games and add optional functionality for Wiimotes(would only need a IR detector), Wii U game pads and the balance board.
