Re: Video: Are 2D Games Worth $60? Jon, Alex And Zion Share Their Own Thoughts

elpardo1984

I don’t think it’s a case of 2D being worth x as a whole the camera perspective isn’t the only factor(although it can indicate a smaller dev team compared to a big 3D game so dev costs are less).I think you need to look at the individual case though, to me on appearance alone this game does not look as good as a number of metroidvanias released over the last few years which are a fraction of the cost. I don’t have a particularly affinity with the franchise so I see little value in what I saw in that trailer.

Re: Nintendo Ambassadors Are Receiving "Extreme Excitement" Packages Ahead Of The E3 Direct

@JuiceMan_V it was pretty solid, I can easily fill my gaming year with game pass right up until Elden ring comes out. Would like to mix it up with some handheld action so high hopes that Nintendo bring it today. Although while the bar may be low(every showcase bar Xbox has been disappointing imho) there is plenty of scope for them to disappoint for example if this years big game is Pokemon remakes which we’ve already seen it will not go down well.

Re: Soapbox: When Is The Next 'Big' Nintendo Direct? Oh, Does It Really Matter Anymore?

elpardo1984

I like directs, but they suffer from always being on at a weird time for someone. They also only work if there is a lot to show.

I'd happily take regular smaller directs instead for Indie and Partner with ones dedicated to the major Nintendo releases(Metroid,BotW2 etc) or special events(Switch Pro). Maybe depending on how they adapt you could see a full direct for E3 time(but it in essence would be a bunch of smaller directs linked together)

Re: For Only The Third Month In Two Years, Switch Wasn't The UK's Best-Selling Console

elpardo1984

@JohnnyC That or age of Calamity for me.
Although I still advent started Galaxy so that may edge it!

Surprised Xbox was lower they must be really struggling in terms of production. Still undecided on which next gen to go for. Xbox is a better value proposition with gamepass(I missed last gen apart from Switch so its pretty stacked with games I havent played). But the PS5 has better games at the moment although that may change with the Bethesda Acquisition.

Re: EA Ignores Nintendo Fans Yet Again As FIFA 21 David Beckham Freebie Skips Switch

elpardo1984

The problem is EA have been allowed to get a monopoly on Football games. Theres a Wikipedia page for a list of football games and for PS4 13 out of 16 releases are PES or FIFA. They have a monopoly on the most popular sport on the most popular consoles. So when they decide its not worth supporting the Switch properly theres no path for anything else licensed to fill the void, which in turn empowers them to charge lots for minimal effort.

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - Not The Zelda Game You Want, But Perhaps The One You Need

elpardo1984

@Rayquaza2510 dunno, it seems "they" are pretty confident there will be some sort of new hardware. The updated tegra architecture is out there and seeing the BF deals on Switch hardware starting to pop up it feels like they are reducing price more than normal to maximise sales of the original.

Edit - realised I hadn't actually mentioned the game in question at all. I liked the demo although the frame drops aren't great. I really liked the last HW game and musou games if I know the characters(also liked Ultimate Alliance 3 but probably wouldn't have touched it if it wasnt Marvel characters).

Re: Poll: Which Will Be Your Second Console - PS5 Or Xbox Series X?

elpardo1984

Voted SX and Switch but in reality I will probably pick up the Series S for Gamepass. I've realised I could play half of the cross platform games I don't have on Switch yet(Doom Eternal, Outer Worlds, Bioshock coll. is like £7 instead of £35) and that would pay for a Series S itself, and there are a bunch of games that to keep me entertained on top of the Switch.

Re: The Plot Thickens On Prince Of Persia Remake As Switch Box Art Appears Online

elpardo1984

Basically wait and see, i'd like to think it is coming but for every retail "leak" theres another contradiction saying its not coming. Same with Mass Effect, article on here saying its not happening while almost simulatenously another on reddit saying it was. Until its announced it is vapourware.

But that being said its fun to guess! October Partner direct; Prince of Persia, Mass Effect and Tony Hawk 1+2

Re: Microsoft Has Just Bought Bethesda, Giving It Doom, Fallout, Elder Scrolls And Wolfenstein

elpardo1984

@johnvboy of course they do in terms of cash, but they don't make those profits by buying Bethesda and not making those games Xbox/Game Pass exclusives to bolster that service. The service itself is great but what they are missing is the games catalogue that Sony has, buying Bethesda et al is to bolster that aspect of their offering. Minecraft is the exception not the rule.

Re: Microsoft Has Just Bought Bethesda, Giving It Doom, Fallout, Elder Scrolls And Wolfenstein

elpardo1984

@johnvboy even with their never ending its of cash even MS cant afford to pay that much for Bethesda(or their parent) and not use that to boost the gamepass ecosystem. They will undoubtedly honour any existing commitments etc, but elder scrolls, Doom and Fallout being exclusives is a big pull for a lot of people towards MS ecosystem. I do expect them to still bring games to Switch as they have been doing with Ori and Cuphead.

Re: Nintendo Looks To Extend Switch Life-Cycle As Demand Looks Higher Than Ever This Year

elpardo1984

@TimboSlice I think they have to grow the offering with a Pro model so it should be the same rails etc for the joy cons just improved build.

@zool you do have to factor in the fact it’s a merging of 2 product lines. It does irk slightly that the gameboy and DS lines are often forgotten when looking at where the Switch sits in terms of sales. That being said if you look at their previous gen the 3DS and Wii U they will sell more in less time than the 2 combined so I don’t think their standing is as bad as you think.
