Re: Is This Our First Real Look At Nintendo Switch Mini?

@Jester151 Thats the pro/XL/, it will come but needs a title to launch alongside it and cant see at the moment what they would launch alongside it(as in a big Nintendo system seller not a port) that would have a noticeable difference in graphics than other switch models other than maybe either Bayonetta or Metroid P4. The former could work and may be why they are tight lipped about it so far.

@Damo Ah fair enough I didnt realise it was a proprietary connector assumed it was some form of USB.

@60frames-please I think you're right if they get it right. As long as they position it is a kids/secondary model (and dont give it any functionality that the Switch original doesnt have). From a marketing perspective they dont want people moaning that they are having to buy all of these extras, so it needs to be clear this is for you if you dont want/neex those features. ie for kids who just want to play Fortnite and Pokemon and are on an upgrade path from the handhelds not the physical consoles or a multi device household where you already have the dock/joy-cons available.

@Damo in fairness a lot of companies keep the costs down by not including a charger/psu these days as if its using USB power the assumption is you already have one. Big N and Sony did the same thing with the mini consoles and things like the Kindle or Chromecast dont have them either.

Making a device that fundamentally changes its functionality(no joy con sharing, not table top, no motion controls, additional controller needed for docked play) is a bit different. Even compared to the 3DS>2DS your taking away a universal feature that doesnt really affect gameplay not making certain games unplayable(at least without buying additional hardware)

That being said I dont think its out of the realms of possibility that they would do this but the cost savings for the consumer would need to be significant enough to make it worthwhile.

If they do go down this road I'd love to see them expand the functionality for party/group/active games and add optional functionality for Wiimotes(would only need a IR detector), Wii U game pads and the balance board.

Re: Feature: Nintendo E3 2019 - What Are You Hoping For?

Indeed, bucking the trend of the other devs who were touting a lot of 2020 games this Direct should be all/mostly 2019 games(with gameplay and release dates) and some surprise DLC.
Obviously Zelda tease would be immense but think they will hold off until the Jan direct to separate from the Christmas marketing.

Re: Mortal Kombat 11 Day-One Patch Will Be More Than Double The Size Of Base Game, Says Data Miner

I was really looking forward to this, it remains to be seen if I’ll be buying now.
If it’s similar to Smash where it’s a complete game with the addition of DLC. Or if it’s like the Power Rangers game where there are only a few playable characters and lots of DLC/Season Passes(which is fine in a free game).
If the whole game isn’t on the cart i don’t think I’ll buy it my general rule is a full price game is always a physical purchase. But if there comes a point where I need to maintain an SD card with patches on to stop the cart being superfluous it’s not a physical purchase.

Re: Rumour: This Year's 'Budget' Switch Could Take The 2DS Route And Ditch A Killer Feature

@DavidMac how dreadfully patronising.
Rest assured I took on board what you said and made my point why I think they may take a different path. All in the spirit of a good natured discussion around a common pastime. As you seem to have assumed what you are saying is some kind of truth, even though we are discussing the specifications of a hypothetical product I’m going to take my leave here and suggest you cast that critical eye on your own comments. Have a nice day.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Be Concerned About Google's Play For Gamers?

@Fake-E-Lee same here, unfortunately having to become a grown up meant I don’t think I’d had a console for 4/5 years until this Xmas just gone.
I’ve no real interest in another expensive iterative console. Google or Msoft really need to do something gamechanging to get my attention. I’d wager this is a common train of thought for a lot of Nintendo players.
