@NinChocolate this really, thinking of mixing the biggest gaming franchise with the latest gaming fad isn’t a grand idea by any stretch you’d have to assume Nintendo had thought of it too. That being said it is nice to see these fan made projects

Basically wait and see, i'd like to think it is coming but for every retail "leak" theres another contradiction saying its not coming. Same with Mass Effect, article on here saying its not happening while almost simulatenously another on reddit saying it was. Until its announced it is vapourware.

But that being said its fun to guess! October Partner direct; Prince of Persia, Mass Effect and Tony Hawk 1+2

@johnvboy of course they do in terms of cash, but they don't make those profits by buying Bethesda and not making those games Xbox/Game Pass exclusives to bolster that service. The service itself is great but what they are missing is the games catalogue that Sony has, buying Bethesda et al is to bolster that aspect of their offering. Minecraft is the exception not the rule.

@johnvboy even with their never ending its of cash even MS cant afford to pay that much for Bethesda(or their parent) and not use that to boost the gamepass ecosystem.They will undoubtedly honour any existing commitments etc, but elder scrolls, Doom and Fallout being exclusives is a big pull for a lot of people towards MS ecosystem. I do expect them to still bring games to Switch as they have been doing with Ori and Cuphead.

@Ainz If it was the champions that would tempt me to revisit the game and buy the fighter pass!

@brunojenso Depends what you count the score as indicating. To me you should look it as how much does the reviewer recommend it. So a 10/10 doesn't indicate a perfect game per se(as you say thats impossible) but one that has the reviewers highest recommendation.

@AlecOfChaos true, it is a different tack than the other games but for £6 it is some of the best value on Switch. Doom 2016 will be next as soon as I find a cart at a decent price!

Currently playing through Doom 3, that has me pretty impressed so when I finally get around to 2016 and eternal it may actually blow my mind!
Hopefully this will see a pre Xmas release, there’s a couple more partner directs to go!

@PLATINUM7 I’d happily have ports of the original 2&3 just to complete the set.

@TimboSlice I think they have to grow the offering with a Pro model so it should be the same rails etc for the joy cons just improved build.

@zool you do have to factor in the fact it’s a merging of 2 product lines. It does irk slightly that the gameboy and DS lines are often forgotten when looking at where the Switch sits in terms of sales. That being said if you look at their previous gen the 3DS and Wii U they will sell more in less time than the 2 combined so I don’t think their standing is as bad as you think.

@nessisonett not sure you’d get both. I think it will either be BOTW2 and maybe a similar 35th pack as Mario. If no new game an old fave might get a remake ala Links Awakening.

I’m happy with the 1st party offerings to keep me occupied for the foreseeable future. Anything decent here is a bonus! Would love a Tony Hawk game though(although I think it’s more likely to come with Switch Pro).

@Kienda There's always a risk of flooding the market with too many custom Switch. This one makes sense for this part of the world, the same way as much as I liked it a Dragon Quest version isn't going to be a hit outside of Japan.

It has potential to be a fun little thing but it feels like the track kit needs to be more robust for the price, especially as it seems the gates are needed to create a track. And it needs a cheaper second car option(also opens the door to accessories too) to be viable beyond being a limited release for the 35th.

@LUIGITORNADO judging by those comments 2021 might be a stretch! In some ways between this and whatever does come out for Z35 next year I’d be happy to wait if it means it’s perfect

@BrintaPap except one of the reasons listed above or a multitude of other reasons. You may not like it but you have to assume there is a plan somewhere

@spirit_flame I feel the same, can’t say I’m desperate for either next gen console as of yet. Nothing particularly appealing about chasing the cutting-edge these days. The only thing I feel like I’m missing out is the new (old) Tony Hawks and there are rumours of a switch port of that.

Big disappointment here is the lack of RE 2&3. Not that I expected the remakes but I’d have liked a port at least. I find it really off putting that I can’t ply the entire series. Particularly as 2&3 are faves of mine. Code Veronica would be nice too!

@JayJ wasn’t it reportedly Michael Jackson? Both dealing with his estate and association with any accusations made against him would be off putting but as others have said there is alternate music.

No chance it will have 4K and it is completely pointless beyond a bit of marketing.
The Aya Neo isn’t comparable if it ever releases it will be twice the price with ***** battery.
The Pro(or new or XL) will be a slightly improved model with less slowdown and pop in. They would be mental to make exclusive games.
A sensible option would be smaller bezel(think the glossy area on the unit being screen) with a half decent attempt at 1080P both docked and handheld, better joycons and maybe some larger storage(or multiple SD card slots).

@Slowdive Normally yes, but I think the butthurt at a lack of a proper direct is going to give a lot of people negative thinking before it even starts.
Maybe I'm overthinking it the poll results would indicate that.

Looked fine but I think they're doing the indie devs a disservice by having a Nindies ahead of the proper Direct. Same with Partner or Pokemon or Smash directs.

@Octane you’re right does seem like the Wii U was one to avoid. It would have been nice if they offered some sort of trade in for ports as they seem intent on wiping the U from history.

@Octane isn’t that the point of the video? You’re in the vast minority here, most Switch owners won’t have played this or the other games that have been ported. Get that it’s disappointing if you have played it though! But that’s probably more to do with the slow trickle of new game into coming out of the big N

The medium isn’t the problem the quality and quantity of announcements are.

@Agramonte if you can and don't want portability the $5 version is the way to go!
I'm still hopeful the Switch version will get some performance patches. Its happened on several other games so no need to panic about this port.

I’m glad they are doing it, but didn’t feel like there was much there for me. I’m intrigued by SMT but it’s too far away for me to be excited about. Would have been nice to have more upcoming game’s for 2020 that wasn’t DLC or shovelware.
Low expectations, still slightly dissapointed.

@Steel76 it’s July, there’s no reason they can’t announce first part games later. It’s fairly nailed on we will get 1 or 2 more Mario games to celebrate the 35th anniversary. But the “main” first party game this year is Animal Crossing.

@khululy They’re kept out because of poor PR. WWE historically didn’t/don’t really care about the welfare of their performers or their families. There are lots of well documented cases on top of Owen and Benoit. From the steroids use of the 80s right up until the lack of any decent testing for COVID happening now.

@BenAV Totally agree I feel like they've hit the mark with Switch s well they should adhere closer to the handheld model(that gave Game Boy, DS and 3DS much longer life spans than docked consoles).
There is plenty of things they can add to the ecosystem to extend its life it's just whether Nintendo as a company can achieve them.

@westman98 but not that difficult. You would have to lose the developer interviews maybe but gathering game footage and editing it together with voiceovers are all things that can be done in relative isolation.

@retro_player_77 neat idea but going retro while great for nostalgia collectors it doesn’t really get the games out there. Perhaps they could do it as an e-magazine but not much fun for collectors.
Short of individual announcements I don’t see what else they do differently. Something like Stadia would be good for announcements if you could get a 5 min window to try out aspects of a new game. Or walk a virtual E3 (similar to how fortnite does concerts and trailers).

Safety first and all that. But it does seem there’s nothing stopping them doing a direct. Especially as we’ve had 2 Pokemon and a Smash presentation.
This does sound like one could be in the offing though.

@TG16_IS_BAE it would be nice but that would increase costs(and therefore price), battery life would be poorer(or a bigger battery and bigger unit). There’s always a trade off if you want to hit a certain price point. And it’s not that it’s not possible when you look at what has been achieved with Doom and Witcher 3.

@Richnj the thing is it could be or at least a worthwhile endeavour if they put the effort in. Quick ports while some might appeal, aren’t going to cut it on there own. They need something to win over the players who have a negative view of them. Then they could flood the switch with ports and people won’t take the stance of refusing to not buy EA games.

Always happy for decent Star Wars ports will pick this up eventually. Would love the Rogue Squadron series too!

@graysoncharles frostbite is in theory compatible with the switch it just needs EA to port it over (or hire a third party to do so)

@iulis84 in fairness it’s an update of FIFA 19 (which was an improvement on 18) just a shame they didn’t bother trying to improve it since then.

As much as a dislike EA I would be tempted by a half decent update to FIFA. I said this last time but something like the volta mode seems made for the switch.

It would be such a home run if they released a Wii kit for Switch. Along as they treated those who purchased from the shop fairly I can’t see how it would go wrong.
We bought a Wii on a great deal for some lockdown exercise and got twilight princess which I’ve never played.

@fafonio BotW is possibly my fav game of all time(at least current fav) but I wouldn't object to more in depth dungeons.

For the record this is the same score they gave WWE 2K18 which is an already poor game terribly ported to the Switch chock full of game ruining bugs.
It seems unfair to rate this the same.

It’s ability to function as a dock makes this interesting. Particularly as alternative/replacement docks are few and far between.

MK11 remains the only physical Switch game I’ve traded in. Once I’d played the story mode I didn’t feel like there was much I wanted to do.
Had some of the DLC characters been unlock able through gameplay I’d have kept it. May get this (as the actual gameplay was good and have played MK since the original) when it inevitably gets reduced(and preferably on a cart).

@TheFullAndy the general consensus seemed to be that there won't be a June Direct(that would normally coincide with E3) as Nintendo are not in a position to announce their exclusives. This is why Paper Mario got announced separately as that is ready.
What we'll probably get is more Switch games in developers own announcements throughout June(that would usually be in a Direct).

@LocalPenguin I don't think your lack of excitement around these games is down to the lockdown. I think the Mario focus was largely Nintendos big thing for the year, they are pretty focused on building the Mario brand(the Universal Super Mario World was due to open this year too). Maybe there will be a surprise drop of another big game, and if there's no Direct there's always a chance of 3rd party announcements too.
