@PikaPhantom I would love to see Trails a Fantasy Life in their have and continue to enjoy both immensely. But while they(Trails particularly) have reviewed well it’s hard to say they’ve captured any real momentum outside of their core audiences. They’d probably have more of a case if it wasn’t such a strong year.
I'm glad games like this are coming across, while Ubi games have their negatives they can be fun in moderation. I've really been enjoying Outlaws and it looks great(runs better after the recent update).
Yup day 1 for me, although it has Terminator 2D and Metroid Prime 4 a few days either side of it so it’s going to be a busy time.
I played the demo and have to say it is shaping up to be a real hit. The characters having such differing characteristics makes it a step on from Shredders Revenge and I love that.
I would say because the gameplay is so tight I dont mind how difficult it is. I get a lot of satisfaction from doing the smallest thing, but I know I will hit a wall and at that point would like an easier mode.
I won’t comment on whether Geoff is a tool, I’ll let others do that. But the Geoff brand is worth too much to him(and his investors) for him to troll like this and devalue it.
DF are great and its always good for any journalism to be more independent. I had been thinking they were getting a bit click baity with some of their Switch 2 coverage and did wonder if this was Ziff's influence.
@IronMan30 I played the demo and dismissed it when it was released. Picked it up a after this new game was announced and while it was just ok(and hampered somewhat by the OG Switch) it was better than the demo indicated.
@AllBLK exactly my reaction when my Mrs rocks up with a new handbag! As gorgeous as that bag is the one I bought being £25 meant I felt less guilt about buying far too many games since the launch!
@Lizuka I think the fact youve had one for 6 months without need to use it explains why it is being discontinued. Afte rMP4 and ZA I doubt there will be any major releases for Switch 1 so they are kind of superfluous.
@ChakraStomps they seem to be hitting the right notes in that regard, revisiting all of the old IP. Provided they can get it right of course but I'd love to see Crazy Taxi, JSR, Virtua games, Sega Rally all appear on Switch 2.
@EarthboundBenjy i thought it was great. The mix of 2&3D and the traversing in and out of the book adds an interesting dynamic. Absolutely wait for a Switch 2 version though as it’s rough on the S1
@Jeronan no you’re not explaining anything you’re just trying to be right by moving the goalposts. PS Cyberpunk has max brightness, midpoint, pq saturation and white levels. But again PQ on/off is still a control, rather than no control which apparently no game had a few posts ago. TBH I don’t think we’re that far apart you just need to stop speaking in absolutes when that’s not what you mean.
@Jeronan you are as we weren’t talking about the ability to adjust. You said “there is no HDR in handheld mode”, that is categorically false and has been disproven. It then morphed into its not “true” HDR, while that may be correct it is more subjective. But for clarity the minimum requirement to be HDR is 400 nits, the Switch 2 screen is 450. As sub standard as edge lit may be for some it is still technically HDR. Now turning off HDR absolutely does make a difference, it may be slight in some cases(particularly in first party games) but it is there. Also having little no control over your settings is annoying but is an incredibly Nintendo thing to do. And the lack of controls doesn’t dictate if it is HDR or not, it just mean the big N thinks it knows better than you. Lastly the first 3rd party game I tried CP2077 has HDR controls.
Obviously Switch 2 on an OLED TV is far better but it’s disingenuous to suggest it isn’t there in handheld.
@Jeronan you're wrong their are literally 2 sections that say "console screen" and "tv" the former has an option to switch on/off HDR, it doesnt have any adjustments to make as its the native screen. The HDR adjustments are under the TV section as its an external device.
So August is this and Kirby FL update. So then September, November and December to fill with Hyrule Warriors, Metroid and Air Riders along with something to mark the Mario 40th(although WH being down as Winter could be Jan/Feb next year). That's a busy back end to the year.
@Noelemahc they've otherwise been quite complimentary about it. There's no conspiracy here, just a screen that under test conditions shows areas where Nintendo cut corners to hit a price point but with 120hz/VRR/HDR. Most people aren't likely going to notice the slow response time but it doesn't mean it isn't there.
@gb_nes_gamer Im sure they will, they already have two games out. My only pause is if their is value in them doing a big drop of back catalogue. RE9 looks like it could run on Switch 2 as we know RE engine is running well for SF6, if that happens do they want to cannibalise sales by dropping 2,3,4,7,& 8 in one go. I'm sure they'll want Monster Hunter too. Could be they space it out a bit more.
I’d love to know if games like this will get basic patches for Switch 2. Obviously the Switch is more than capable of running it, but would be good to get 1080P handheld/4K docked
I don’t think S2 launching the day before SGF starts was an accident. I fully expect to see several new games announced across the various shows. Including a Nintendo Direct(although that will mostly be dates for already announced games)
About what you'd expect, you would hope that Game Freak are working on something for the next mainline game. They will save any major improvements for that. And even for that they will want a big install base.
@Vectrex because someone has to do the work. I’d be surprised if other games particularly third party don’t see a fair few updates. It depends on the developer though and how easy it is to update. Something like No Man’s Sky I’d expect to be updated as it has been well supported throughout its life cycle, hopefully Minecraft will get the new visual upgrade on Switch 2 as well
@Jeronan I don’t think they have, I genuinely think we will either see a paid upgrade for 2 with mouse support and wonder levels or as you said a new release with 3D which would need a mouse to be usable. If they didn’t care it would be a free upgrade like Game Builder Garage

Re: The Game Awards Nominees Announced, Donkey Kong Bananza Up For GOTY
@Bobb E33 seems to be nailed on. But DK was the only one that had nothing but positive reviews by metacritics reckoning, so who knows?

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Switch 2 Compatibility Update Released
@Max_the_German I think generally that’s the right approach but for a game that released this year it seems a bit silly to hold it back.

@Magician came in to say the same thing am loving the Trails game!
Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?
I would say because the gameplay is so tight I dont mind how difficult it is. I get a lot of satisfaction from doing the smallest thing, but I know I will hit a wall and at that point would like an easier mode.
Re: Talking Point: Would Drag x Drive Be Better With Miis Or Non-Mouse Control Options?
Make it free to NSO members with non mouse controls and we have a game. To add longevity things like miis and other locations would be good.
Re: Review: Herdling (Switch) - A Serene, Soothing Animal Trek With Some Rough Edges
@rjejr I really like it, how long to beat says 3.5 hours. Would say it’s worth waiting on a switch 2 upgrade.

Re: Kirby And The Forgotten Land Switch 2 Trailer Showcases More New Mouthful Modes
Looks like a decent amount of content in the DLC, and was already a fantastic game so a no brainer for me!
Re: Feature: What We Expect From Nintendo For Super Mario Bros.' 40th Anniversary
I think a Wonder update for Switch 2 with paid DLC that is something along the lines of a remake of SMB1 in 4K 120fps.
Re: Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion Drops Two New Gameplay Videos

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Be Playable At Gamescom 2025
@RupeeClock
Yes, no
Or if we do see it, it will be "2025" still as MS will announce release date to co-time with their handheld.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Rating Spotted, Fuelling Nintendo Direct Hopes Again
@Yalloo I know, but both getting ratings that far out makes me hoeful they are getting ratings for the Direct.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Rating Spotted, Fuelling Nintendo Direct Hopes Again
Well that and Hyrule Warriors close together should mean it will be soon

Re: Review: Savage Raven By Skull & Co. NeoGrip For Nintendo Switch 2 - Does The Job Very Nicely
I got one and it makes a world of difference for me. I never had an issue with the S1 but games like THPS would be really hard to play without it.

@MontyCircus too many contentious figures, as well as a littany of rights issues unfortunately.

Re: "One Of The Slowest Modern LCDs I've Ever Seen" - Digital Foundry's John Linneman On Switch 2's Display
@SamusHunter182 It needs an update to take the 1080P output in handheld mode. But in theory that could be a quick and easy update for a lot of games.
Re: "One Of The Slowest Modern LCDs I've Ever Seen" - Digital Foundry's John Linneman On Switch 2's Display
@Jeronan it does. It's literally the first option in the display settings.

Re: Mario Kart World Update Is Out Now, Here Are The Patch Notes
@SBandy1 in fairness I’ve had a fair few first party games that are still v1.0.0 although most of those will get updates for Switch 2 compatibility!
Re: PSA: Switch 2 Updates For Multiple First-Party Switch Games Are Now Available
@spottedleaf it should map to the Switch controller it has the same buttons. Whether that maps to the original GC controls I don’t know.
Re: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Footage Shows 60fps Gameplay For Switch 2
@mariomaster96 I thought that as it didnt seem great, but looks a lot better in the Today app.
Are there more Pokemon in the overworld too? Seems like this is now the game it should have been a few years back.

Pikmin and Mario Maker its such a fundamental change they will likely hold onto it for a sequel or paid update.
