@Ralek85 I will never stop loving the HD-2D style. My biggest wish is for Square to remake Final Fantasy VI in HD-2D. The game is practically begging for it.
@DsheroX I have the exact same games for Switch 2. The lack of true physical releases is really bumming me out. That said, I prefer digital over game key cards, where the only benefit I can see is resale.
Maybe it's divisive, but it's objectively a good game, especially by NES standards. Whether it holds up as a good Zelda game is a matter of opinion. Personally, I prefer it over Zelda 1.
I said 5. Bananza is a "killer app" and MKW is good, but third party games leave something to be desired. Even if I ignore the fact that most of them are game key cards, they are mostly ports of old games.
Some good stuff looks to be coming by the end of the year, however.
I'll also say that I've bought a Switch 2 physical that I probably would not have just to support true physical games. Rune Factory: The Guardian of Azuma is full physical on Switch 2. This is a game I was interested in, but probably would have waited for a sale to buy it, if I did at all. Because it is one of the few true physical games available on the Switch 2, though, I went for it. It even comes with a manual, which was a pleasant surprise.
The only way I'm buying game key cards is with a steep discount. I'm sort of looking forward to the format flopping, after which I imagine I'll be able to get some at like $5 a pop.
The game looks good, but I don't know if it's worth $70 to me. Come November, there are going to be other games that I think I'd rather spend my money on.
I'll probably just buy the Switch version then, unless there are significant improvements with the Switch 2 version. In that case, I still won't get a game key card, though, I'll just buy digital.
@jake1421 Ok, but the system is launched. The cat's out of the bag, at this point. It's ridiculous that any developer who wants one can't get a dev kit.
@jarack That's exactly how I feel about the game. It's pretty much perfect aside from occasional camera jank that I don't know is even possible to get completely right, given the nature of the game. If there was a 9.5 out of 10 option, I'd pick that.
Looks nice, but what I'd really like are third party Joy-Con replacements. Particularly, I'm waiting for Hori to update its Split Pad Pro for the Switch 2. Much better for handheld play than the stock Joy-Cons.
I don't think it's a coincidence that the top-selling third party game for Switch 2 is Cyberpunk 2077, which comes with the full game on the cartridge. I buy both digital and physical games. I prefer to buy physical, but I don't ever intend to buy game key cards.
I would have bought Street Fighter 6 if it had been a real physical release. I still might get it digitally, but I have no interest in the game key cards.

I'm loving the Switch 2 so far, but I still don't like using the joycons in handheld mode. They feel a little better to me than the Switch 1 joycons, but I find the sticks too small and it's too hard for me to use the shoulder buttons. Waiting for Hori or someone to come out with something better (I love the Split Pad Pro, but that doesn't attach to the Switch 2).
Switch is still my primary console, with Steam Deck being a close second. Seeing as how I couldn't pre-order a Switch 2, who knows how long it will be before I can even obtain one?
Most of these are games that don't really need any upgrades. The two exceptions are Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom; if they've cleaned up the framerate drops in those games, that's great!

Re: Poll: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Out On Switch 2 And Switch This Week, Will You Be Getting It?
I hope to get it for Christmas. Otherwise, I'll get it after Christmas.
Re: Mini Review: Arcade Archives 2 TOKYO WARS (Switch 2) - Another Polished But Wafer Thin Hamster Port
They could have made this really cool and had online multiplayer. It would take a lot more work, sure, but it would add a lot more value.
Re: "These Shouldn't Be The Only Games Being Made" - Keiji Inafune Critical Of Reliance On Big IPs
I couldn't agree more. I'd rather play a game with a fresh concept that doesn't entirely nail everything perfectly than a well-polished rehash.
Re: Review: Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection (Switch 2) - A Killer Kompilation, But Online Is A Mess At Launch
I'll still get it! I'm not that interested in online play, and they'll probably fix it soon, anyway.

Re: Review: Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (Switch 2) - Rounds Out The Erdrick Trilogy In Style
@ryan_nil Right, that's my question as well. Is it worth it to get the Switch 2 version, knowing the drawbacks?
Re: Kirby Air Riders 'Global Test Ride' Demo Kicks Off Next Month
I've been converted from a skeptic to a true believer in this game.
Re: Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion Gets Another Switch 2 Update, Here Are The Patch Notes
@roy130390 Yeah, I want this game if they fix the performance somewhat. I'd love to support a publisher putting out fully physical Switch 2 games.
Re: Review: BALL x PIT (Switch) - Ballsy, Beautifully Balanced, Mercilessly Addictive
Looks right up my alley!
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Maybe they'll add more areas as DLC?

Re: Switch 2 Exclusive 'Drag x Drive' Scores First Major Update, Includes Local Wireless Games And Much More
@PinderSchloss That may be the reason they insisted people not say the game involved wheelchair basketball.
Re: Nintendo Adds One Of The Most Divisive Zelda Entries To 'Nintendo Music'
Maybe it's divisive, but it's objectively a good game, especially by NES standards. Whether it holds up as a good Zelda game is a matter of opinion. Personally, I prefer it over Zelda 1.
Re: Why Remake 'Dragon Quest VII' Before The Zenithian Trilogy? Yuji Horii Comments
I am very much looking forward to the game. Dragon Quest VII is my favorite in the series.
Re: Nintendo Direct September 2025: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
I didn't get what I really wanted: Mother 3.
Re: Dragon Quest VII Gets Reimagined For Switch And Switch 2 In Early 2026
I was pumped about this. My favorite Dragon Quest game.
Re: Pokémon's Former Chief Legal Officer Believes Nintendo's Latest Patent Will Be Ignored
If the patent is honored, we live in a very stupid world.
Re: "Everyone Is A Director" At Nintendo, Says Former Dev, But Don't Make Excuses
I'd be afraid to try anything outside of spec because if I ultimately can't implement it I'd be fired.

Re: Ubisoft Employee Explains Why Star Wars Outlaws Is A Game-Key Card
Can't they just copy data from the cartridge initially and put it on the internal storage? Install the game, if you will.
Re: Final Fantasy Tactics' Devs Had To Lean On Fans To Recover Original Source Code
They really give absolutely no thought to preserving these games, do they?
Re: Review: Kirby And The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World - Kirby's Best Shines Even Brighter
I never bought the base game because a 30 fps Kirby platformer seemed like a letdown after Mario Odyssey, but I might check it out now!

Re: Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma Ships Over 500,000 Copies
They deserve high sales for doing a real Switch 2 physical edition.
Re: First Impressions: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is An Attempt To Catch The Hardcore Again
I didn't realize this game was going to have real-time battles. I'm not excited about that.
Re: Octopath 0 Is A Game-Key Card On Switch 2, And Square Enix Has "No Plans" For A Switch 1 Upgrade Option
I'll probably just buy the Switch version then, unless there are significant improvements with the Switch 2 version. In that case, I still won't get a game key card, though, I'll just buy digital.
Re: Octopath Traveler 0 Will Bring More Adventures To Switch 1 & 2 This Year
They always hook me with HD2D games. I wish I could just inject that art style into my veins, lol.
Re: 'Mouse Work' Gets Second Trailer, But Can't Release Until Creators Get Switch 2 Dev Kit

Re: Marvel Rivals Dev NetEase "Already In Contact With Nintendo" About Switch 2
Nintendo seems to have dropped the ball with dev kits. The Switch 2 is out now; there is no reason any developer shouldn't be able to get a dev kit.
Re: 'Full Metal Schoolgirl' Announced For Switch 2, And It Looks Utterly Bonkers
Looks cool. Reminds of something you might play in the arcade in the late 90's, albeit with better graphics.
Re: Front Mission 3: Remake Appears To Replace 2D Art Assets With Generative AI
This is horrible and, dare I say, grotesque. An insult to artists and gamers.
Re: Feature: Every Switch 2 Launch Game, Ranked
@geiseldiesel It's based on Nintendo Life user ratings.
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
@PerfectFrost I was shocked that Metaphor was not a Switch 2 launch game. I would have definitely picked that up (I was fully expecting to, in fact;).
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
I would have bought Street Fighter 6 if it had been a real physical release. I still might get it digitally, but I have no interest in the game key cards.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Controllers
I need third party joycons for playing in handheld mode ASAP. Hori needs to hurry up with a Split Pad Pro 2.
Re: Talking Point: How Are You Finding Mario Kart's Open World?
Yeah, I thought it would be for me, but it isn't. That's OK. The actual racing is on-point, and I find it to be much more compelling.
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Crushes PS2 To Become Fastest-Selling Console Ever
@TheExile285

Maybe they really did have deaf kids instead of dev kits all this time!
Re: Hardware Review (In Progress): Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch
I still hate using the joycons in handheld mode. I hope Hori hurries up with a new Split Pad Pro for Switch 2.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Ghosting Switch 1 To Save Yourself For Switch 2?

Re: Game Devs Weigh In On Switch 2, And A "Much Better" eShop Is A Must

Re: Limited Run's Atlus Switch 2 Collector's Edition Is A 'Game-Key Card' Release
If you're not planning to sell or give away your games, the game key cards have all the negatives of having a digital game but none of the positives.
$250 for no actual physical game is outrageous, but I would never give LRG my money to begin with.
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Might Be Teasing The Return Of An Old Friend
I'm really excited about this game, but who knows when I'll be able to get a Switch 2!
