I don't think it's a coincidence that the top-selling third party game for Switch 2 is Cyberpunk 2077, which comes with the full game on the cartridge. I buy both digital and physical games. I prefer to buy physical, but I don't ever intend to buy game key cards.
I would have bought Street Fighter 6 if it had been a real physical release. I still might get it digitally, but I have no interest in the game key cards.
I got Cyberpunk physical. I would have bought Street Fighter VI physical, but it's a game key card. I'd rather just buy a digital version than a game key card.
I'm loving the Switch 2 so far, but I still don't like using the joycons in handheld mode. They feel a little better to me than the Switch 1 joycons, but I find the sticks too small and it's too hard for me to use the shoulder buttons. Waiting for Hori or someone to come out with something better (I love the Split Pad Pro, but that doesn't attach to the Switch 2).
Switch is still my primary console, with Steam Deck being a close second. Seeing as how I couldn't pre-order a Switch 2, who knows how long it will be before I can even obtain one?
Most of these are games that don't really need any upgrades. The two exceptions are Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom; if they've cleaned up the framerate drops in those games, that's great!
I have both a Switch and a Steam Deck. They're both great, but you are leaving out some of the biggest advantages of the Steam Deck. Namely, you can use a Deck like a regular PC and so you can do a lot of things that the Switch won't allow, like installing emulators or games from multiple storefronts. I can play games from Steam, Epic, GOG, and others on my Steam Deck, whereas with Nintendo you're locked into their store and ecosystem.
This points to physical media being on the way out for video games, which sucks. I have a ton of games on Steam, which has been a very good service, but even there you still get shenanigans like licensed music being patched out of games after a certain time period.
I have a question about the game-key cards. Is the key attached to the card itself, or is it attached to your account? Because if it's the former, it means that you can at least re-sell your game-key card if you want.
Ultimately, the companies will charge whatever price they think will get them the most money. If you think the prices are too high (I think the console price is fine and what I expected, but the games are too much), vote with your wallet. If people don't buy the games, publishers will have no choice but to lower the prices.
I'm most disappointed in Nintendo's cheapness. You have to pay for a tech demo? They spent a long part of the presentation talking about this camera that you have to pay extra for? $90 physical games? At least you finally get a price break for buying digital.
The new Donkey Kong game looks good, though.
Edit: Oh, and I forgot about having to buy a new SD card since you can't use the non-"express" ones.
I liked the idea of Unpacking, but I thought the execution wasn't great. It was hard to tell what some of the items were that you had to place, and the game was very short for $20. I bought it on sale for $13, but still felt a little ripped off.
@outsider83 You might be thinking of Balan Wonderland from 2021. It was Sonic creator Yuji Naka's pet project, and he got removed from the game's development six months before release. The game was roundly panned by critics.
Doing a hardware-only reveal makes sense if the system is a new concept, but since the Switch 2 is an iteration from the original Switch, I don't get the point of showing the system without the new specs and only a few seconds of game footage.
I voted poor. They didn't reveal anything we didn't already strongly suspect via leaks, and the design of the system itself is fine, but plays things very safely. It is nice to see that being able to use the joycons as mice is seemingly confirmed, and that digital and physical backwards compatibility is confirmed.

Re: Marvel Rivals Dev NetEase "Already In Contact With Nintendo" About Switch 2
Nintendo seems to have dropped the ball with dev kits. The Switch 2 is out now; there is no reason any developer shouldn't be able to get a dev kit.
Re: 'Full Metal Schoolgirl' Announced For Switch 2, And It Looks Utterly Bonkers
Looks cool. Reminds of something you might play in the arcade in the late 90's, albeit with better graphics.
Re: Front Mission 3: Remake Appears To Replace 2D Art Assets With Generative AI
This is horrible and, dare I say, grotesque. An insult to artists and gamers.
Re: Feature: Every Switch 2 Launch Game, Ranked
@geiseldiesel It's based on Nintendo Life user ratings.
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
@PerfectFrost I was shocked that Metaphor was not a Switch 2 launch game. I would have definitely picked that up (I was fully expecting to, in fact;).
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
I would have bought Street Fighter 6 if it had been a real physical release. I still might get it digitally, but I have no interest in the game key cards.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Controllers
I need third party joycons for playing in handheld mode ASAP. Hori needs to hurry up with a Split Pad Pro 2.
Re: Talking Point: How Are You Finding Mario Kart's Open World?
Yeah, I thought it would be for me, but it isn't. That's OK. The actual racing is on-point, and I find it to be much more compelling.

@TheExile285
I got Cyberpunk physical. I would have bought Street Fighter VI physical, but it's a game key card. I'd rather just buy a digital version than a game key card.

Re: No Man's Sky Multiplayer Is Currently Broken On Switch 2, Cross-Saves Also Causing Issues
Maybe they really did have deaf kids instead of dev kits all this time!
Re: Hardware Review (In Progress): Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch
I still hate using the joycons in handheld mode. I hope Hori hurries up with a new Split Pad Pro for Switch 2.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Ghosting Switch 1 To Save Yourself For Switch 2?
Switch is still my primary console, with Steam Deck being a close second. Seeing as how I couldn't pre-order a Switch 2, who knows how long it will be before I can even obtain one?
Re: Game Devs Weigh In On Switch 2, And A "Much Better" eShop Is A Must
I don't care whether or not there is hentai, I just want the eShop to run much better.

Re: Limited Run's Atlus Switch 2 Collector's Edition Is A 'Game-Key Card' Release
If you're not planning to sell or give away your games, the game key cards have all the negatives of having a digital game but none of the positives.
$250 for no actual physical game is outrageous, but I would never give LRG my money to begin with.
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Might Be Teasing The Return Of An Old Friend
I'm really excited about this game, but who knows when I'll be able to get a Switch 2!

Re: Video: 20+ Things We Still Don't Know About Switch 2
NSO price increase? Please don't give them any ideas!
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
I probably won't bother with these. My preference is:
1. Full physical games
2. Digital games from the eShop
3. Game key cards
4. Code in a box
Re: Switch 2 GameChat Choppy Frame Rate Explained By Nintendo
I will probably never use this feature, so this is a non-issue for me.
Re: The Switch 2 Won't Have Achievements Or eShop Music
I don't care about achievements, but I loved the Wii's UI music. It's disappointing that Nintendo has abandoned that.

Re: Please Make Sure You're Wearing Trousers When Using Switch 2's Mouse Controls
I intend to get one of those trays that you can attach to the arm of your couch and use that as the mouse surface.
Re: Hands On: Mario Kart World Brings The Utter Chaos In Knockout Mode
At least Nintendo is still putting out great games. Say what you will about their greed and anti-consumer practices--they still make great games.
Re: The Switch 2 Will Emulate Switch Games, Because It Shares No Internal Hardware With Its Predecessor
This explains the compatibility issues with some games.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Artist Shares His Thoughts On Kong's New Design
I'm not crazy about the new design, myself, but I'll get used to it, I guess. The new DK game looks great, though, I am excited to play it.

Lol, definitely not buying this.

Re: Digital Foundry Analyses The Tech In Xenoblade Chronicles X For Switch
I love games like this that come out late in a console's life-cycle and take full advantage of the system's capabilities.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct Predictions - What Do You Want To See?
I'm hoping to hear something about Decapolice and the new Professor Layton game.
Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 27th March 2025
Weird, but I'm not complaining! The more games coming, the better!

Re: Star Wars: Hunters Servers To Close Later This Year
I wish they'd just release all the code/server software when these live service games die so that people can still enjoy them.
Re: Chrono Trigger To Celebrate 30th Anniversary With "Various Projects"
I'd rather see a sequel than a remake.
Re: Review: Omega 6: The Triangle Stars (Switch) - A Fun Throwback Adventure From A Nintendo Veteran

Re: Mario + Rabbids Director Recalls "Fantastic" Time With Nintendo, Would Be Open To Collab Again

Re: An NES LucasArts Adventure Classic May Be Getting A Spiritual Successor
I only played the PC version of Maniac Mansion when I was a kid. Seems like it would be cumbersome to play without a mouse.
Re: Opinion: Forget Themes, I Want A Switch 2 Start-Up Jingle
I've been listening to a lot of stuff in the Nintendo music app, and the Wii Shop song is great. They should bring back a shop song.
Re: US Physical Game Spending Continued To Decline Last Year, Now Sits At Half 2021's Numbers
I'll keep buying physical games as long as I can. I hate the idea that digital games can just be taken away from you at any time.
Re: Talking Point: Did All The Switch 2 Leaks 'Damage' Nintendo Or The Console's Reveal?
