RE games aren't for me (I don't do well with horror), but it's always good to see a critically acclaimed game selling well, especially on Nintendo hardware.
Ooof the Switch Era games get a tough ride here, as does the 3DS. I'd put Sun and Moon in the top 5, and Sword and Shield is definitely better than the OG Gameboy games, which haven't aged that gracefully at all.
Never played Fire Red or Leaf Green thanks to the crazy prices of the 2nd hand market. In comparison this is a bargain! I think I'll pick up Leaf Green but I'll want to check the different 'mons in each edition first.
Nintendo fans will always find a way to complain. I think the price is fair, and I'm very happy I can own it outright rather than have to subscribe to NSO.
Really looking forward to this one. Watching some of the video impressions it looks even cuter than the original trailer. If they pull it off the interactions with the Pokémon (villagers) is the thing that could make this go really viral! All this and we haven't even had Pokémon day (also my birthday) yet! What other surprises do The Pokémon Company have up their sleeve?
As expected. All those extrapolating from the Black Friday Sales figures were dead wrong. 17.3 million in under a year, with such a premium price point. Wowsers Nintendo is rolling in money. Let's hope this year can keep up the momentum!
Surprised at all the comments unable to tell the difference. I went in not expecting it to be all that stark, but was shocked at how much sharper and defined the image looked on Switch 2. Well worth a fiver to upgrade imo.
I could jump on the bandwagon chastising the utter tool above, but instead I want to say how cute these toys look. Catch em whilst they're young Nintendo!
Wow this set is completely perfect! In terms of minifigs, play value, display value and even price (for a set in 2026). Very glad Lego listened to some of the less than glowing feedback about the Deku Tree set
I'm back here just under a week later after listening to the majority of the soundtrack on the drive to work and unfortunately I'll have to agree with many of the above comments that the soundtrack is not as good as my memories of the other M+L games. I'm still happy to have more variety on the Nintendo Music service, but let's hope the next soundtrack they add from this series is Bowser's Inside Story!
@Twilite9 not to derail the conversation but I second this request. On topic I'm happy to see the Mario and Luigi Series get representation on Nintendo Music. I haven't played brotherhood so I'll give it's top tracks a listen to in the car this morning. I'll also continue my call for them to add DK: Tropical Freeze to the service!
I'll wait until we have firm numbers. If it finishes the financial year with anywhere close to 15+ million consoles shipped, it's selling like hot cakes.
Nintendo UK is probably finishing the year pretty chuffed, all their big releases from the year are in the top 10 or just outside along with a handful of evergreen titles, I'm quietly surprised to see Mario Kart selling quite as well as it is
Great price, especially with Christmas around the corner, but is this NoA trying to sell through the MarioKart Bundle?
Edit:
Selling MarioKart full price going forward would certainly make up the shortfall from this sale.
What a hefty soundtrack! Perhaps I'm revealing myself but I've never played a Mario Party game so this will be my first experience with it's music. Can't wait to get stuck in during the drive to work. And on that note, I will continue my call for Nintendo to update the app with Android Auto integration.
Sadly I rarely check the Nintendo Today app anymore, it was fun in the run up to the Switch 2 launch, but it really doesn't have anything that keeps me coming back. Maybe these updates might change that...
From all my years as a Nintendo fan I've learnt to never take anything for granted. The stars may align in the future and a new or existing IP may be thrust into public consciousness like never before. Did anyone expect Animal Crossing to be such a big success pre-pandemic? Not really, but almost overnight it became the Switch's number 2 best-selling software. I could see something similar happening in the future (although hopefully without quite the same impact as COVID!)
Hitman: Absolution is a real guilty pleasure. I know it's infamously the worst Hitman game, but it was my first, and I fell completely in love with the franchise. Also who doesn't love Nuns in BDSM gear?
For me the moment I realised Nintendo had turned the corner with 3rd party support was recently with the announcement of AC: Shadows for Switch 2. Having old AC remasters on Switch was one thing, but having this years brand new massive just blows my mind. I have no idea how a Switch 2 runs that game without instantly melting. Hats off to the Devs at Unisoft and to Nintendo for designing a console so small that can pull off miracles!
Nintendo Music continues to delight. Genuinely the drip feed approach, whilst disappointing at first, seems to pay off. It gets me coming back week after week to listen to new tracks. 10/10
This is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping the Switch 2 would see. Frame rate enhancements to ports that were held back on Switch 1. I remember when I first got my PS5, my most played game for most of that winter was Fortnite. Just because of how a silky smooth frame rate can improve an already captivating gameplay experience. There are loads of games (especially 'live-services) on Switch that are great fun, but could be boosted with patches, hopefully the next year or so we see publisher's roll them out as Switch players make the jump to Switch 2
I've just realised, with this along with 3D All Stars (for those who have access to it 🥲) along with the new Galaxy remasters, the Switch and Switch 2 have the greatest line up of 3D platformers of any console ever. Never been a better time to be a fan of the genre.
I was a bit disappointed when I saw the weekly notification pop up from Nintendo Music and saw it was this title. Having never played Princess Peach: Showtime, I had convinced myself it was a low-effort cashgrab aimed at young children. However having listened to the soundtrack that is anything but the case. There are some verified bops on there. Nintendo Music continues to give me weekly joy with it's new releases. Long may it continue!
