Re: Turns Out That Leaked Nintendo Switch Was Stolen And Illegally Resold

@Kalmaro Mill and Bentham were the greatest ethical writers of their time, and I wouldn't say the nature of humanity has changed much in 400 years. But yes I am very much a situational ethicist. So yes if it would somehow help enough people I could even justify putting a newborn baby in a blender.
It seems that we disagree on ethics at a fundamental level so I can't see this going much further.
have a nice day tho

@shaneoh Im not saying that the entire blame of the theft falls on Nintendo, amd I feel that comparing it to a murder really is a false equivalence. What Im saying is that Nintendo, given the fact they are not being forward with Switch information, should have expected someone to steal a Switch to release the information to people.
I also believe that Nintendo deserved this to happen to them. They are currently selling a product which we know very little about and the public deserve to know about some very key aspects of what they are buying. If this means a console had to be stolen for the information to come to light, well Im certainly not crying tears for Nintendo. The end justified the means.

Re: Turns Out That Leaked Nintendo Switch Was Stolen And Illegally Resold

@Finntendo No I think stealing and leaking this information out is justified because myself and around 2 million other people are spending £300 for a system that we still dont know everything about.
I put down the money in January having faith that Nintendo would release more information. Nintendo has failed to do such a thing and so I have no qualms about somebody taking it into their own hands to provide us with such information.

@impurekind if you're talking about the Audi ad, i liked it and personally think we need more messages like them to be publicly broadcast, especially in the current climate.

Anyhoo as for Nintendo I think they hit the nail on the head with this advert. Clear messaging and a wide audience is miles ahead of anything they did with the WiiU. And even if it doesn't translate to loads more sales day 1 at least people will have heard of the system!

@dkxcalibur I think it's clear at this point that if you want the latest and greatest third-party content that appears on PS4 and Xbox One the Switch will not be for you. I think it's also clear by this point that the Switch will not be 'another Wii U' in terms of games release schedule.
The complainers are moaning that the games are not games that they want to play, and I can understand that. Sure you're not too fussed that Rayman Legends is rereleasing or maybe RIVE isn't your cup of tea. But does that detract from any of the other great games coming out on the platform?
My point is that more games are never a bad thing, it means more choice, and (perhaps more importantly) more to play between big AAA releases.

Re: Feature: The Rollercoaster Ride of Nintendo's Financial Reports

Untempered-Link

Tbh this really isn't surprising considering the few AAA titles Nintendo has released over the last year. The WiiU recieved no AAA titles whatsoever (StarFox and Paper Mario are B tier titles at best) so its no shock that it sold so few consoles.
The 3DS is where Nintendo put their effort and it seems to have paid off sales wise (although i wonder how this will impact the Switch)
As for amiibo is it any wonder that the sales aren't through the roof when both the figures and their uses in game have been so mediocre.
Im more than sure that the Switch will turn the financial year around for them though, and next years sales should be much more impressive.

Re: Parent Trap: Nintendo Switch Parental Controls Beat Console Rivals To The Punch

@DonkeyKongBigBoy Yeah we can't make a full judgement until Nintendo announce all the details. And whilst its not entirely true that we don't know anything I expect (or should I say desperately hope) there's something more Nintendo is keeping hush about to make this service worth the money and on par with its competitors.
Perhaps this all this speculation is pointless with the few details we've been given but healthy debate isnt an inherently bad thing 😛

Re: Parent Trap: Nintendo Switch Parental Controls Beat Console Rivals To The Punch

@DonkeyKongBigBoy Just to play the role of devils advocate (I am very much on side of "lets wait and see" personally). But from what Nintendo has announced so far their service will be a worse paid service than either Xbox Live or PS Plus.
The main reason for this claim has to do with the "free" software made available each month, which Nintendo have made clear will only be free for a single month. Also noted that it will be a NES or SNES title which have a value of £3-£5 (noted online will be added which will increase value). However this is a far cry from the service offered by Sony that this month offered £62 worth of free indie titles.
Next point is the much debated smart phone app. At this point it seems unclear (at least to my knowledge) whether the app will be compulsory for online interactions, but if this is the case again it would make it a lesser service to that of Sony or Xbox simply for the need of another peripheral.
Lastly the value of an online service hinges on how many games will be using it and to what extent each game uses it. To this end Nintendo will once again be playing catch up to PS and Xbox just because this is a new system with fewer games on it and fewer still that will use the online service to its full potential.

Once again I'll just say that we really should wait and see for what the full service will be. But from the details released so far Nintendos online service doesn't sound like it will even be on par with what is offered by their competitors.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Rattles Away From Wii U Release

Untempered-Link

You know what, I'm actually kinda glad they've done this, the devs don't deserve to waste their time on a system that only 5 people will still have plugged in by the time the Switch releases.
I do feel sorry for those people who were looking forward to this on WiiU but 99% will probably be gettig the Switch or have another platform to play it on.
As for the 'technical difficulties' line, it could have some merit, we've known for ages that the WiiU isn't the easiest console to develop for/ port to.
